I fell for it and got hooked on a book after a few free chapters. I paid about $6 for access to more chapters without knowing the catch- after finishing a chapter, you have to wait 6hrs before the next unlocks without an additional payment (extra coins per chapter). Unless of course you want to pay for a year subscription.... I found this frustrating and absurd. Definitely won't be paying for any more chapters OR the yearlong subscription.

I signed up for the quarterly subscription because I got tired of waiting for chapters. There are definitely some good stories on here. Be prepared though - Galatea allows authors to post unfinished stories and (unlike Wattpad) there is no notification the story is incomplete. There's even some placeholders on the app - meaning when you tap on a book the description is there, but when you tap on the Read button there's only 1 single page that basically says "coming soon".

Addicted... I can not stop reading it doesn't matter I can not even remember how many books I've read, however before I am done with what I am reading I am thinking about what I will read next. This app is easy to use and affordable for any budget. This app just keeps getting better and better only thing I wish would get better is the cost of points and more options for free chapters.... I wish that there was a monthly or a bi monthly option to be able to purchase the unlimited subscription

The stories seem good, but if you don't want to pay for a year subscription, they don't allow you to pay for a month only. Instead they have you pay for points that exceed the price of a months equivalent from their subscription and still you won't have enough points to finish the book. They don't offer an option to buy a book either. If you don't want to commit to paying excessive fees for a single book, you will be able to read a free chapter every 6 hours! The app freezes often too! :-(

There are some good books on this app. However, it takes forever to open the app, and then to open the "story" "book" whatever...and then it doesn't keep your place....so you have to scroll through, and find where you left off. Idk I feel like for what is charged for a year subscription/buying points/chapters.....the app should AT LEAST be efficient.

The app has interesting stories and some of them have sound. The only drawback for me personally, is that it's expensive to buy a complete book. When I get hooked I like to keep reading for a few hours and the ads only let you read two free chapters a day. It can be a bit frustrating having to wait six hours to read the next chapter.

There are two issues that did not allow me to give this at 5. First issue is technical. For those of us who paid for a year it is very annoying to have to wait for each chapter to upload then the appearance of the white screen etc etc etc. The second issue is to include less stories where female characters, past 18, are continuing to act like pre-teens. Otherwise a great site and lots of fun!

Love this app it's the only one that I have found that have books available in audio version for the times I don't feel like reading but listening instead. I have had issues with the audio book stopping, and in order to continue listening, I have to close the app and reopen it. I wish there wasn't such a long wait time in-between chapters.

I like the fact that I can pay 1 price for a year of unlimited reading. However, it keeps stating I need to pay whe. I already did, the playback don't automatically start for next chapter, if I go to another app it stop playing and when I push play it restarts the chapter over. There are so many bugs and issues that need to be fixed.

I'm currently using 3 "book" apps & and I have about 6. The ONLY 1 I have put money into is Galatea. Books are enjoyable, & audibles are plentiful & choices for immersive reading (music while reading). My frustrations 1) Most of the audible books are unfinished, & even a month later, there are no new chapters. 2) I have premium, paid for it, but it bugs out with a pop-up window fairly frequently & and has even emailed for help, and not much has changed. :( I don't regret my purchase, though.

I love the stories but some of the wait times between chapters (current reas is 24+ hour wait between chapters) is ridiculous and discoraging. You can earn points but not enough to get very far. The subscription is a little expensive IMO but would be worth it if you can afford it. I have been back and forth with myself over deleting the app because of the points/wait times but I keep coming back for more.

If you want to read a whole book in a reasonable amount of time, skip this app. Chapters become shorter and shorter for an increasing point system as you go on. Music is annoying and glitches, so you can't shut it off. 6 hours between chapter wait unless you use points, and it just becomes unreasonable and expensive. I guess if you're a very, very slow reader, then this would work for you. Also, they stopped allowing you to read more than one book at a time. Disappointing

I've been using this app for a few weeks now, and so far, I really like it. The opportunity to accumulate free points in order to read more chapters is perfect, though I've definitely been considering purchasing the unlimited option. My only complaint is that the app seems to be getting bogged down with slow-to-load chapters and some glitches with music in the background. Aside from that, I can't complain about free reading.

Updated review 09.05.2023: This is my first time reading an immersive novel. I LOVE IT!!! I've always loved reading and would be in another world for hours with just regular books. But this is something else, the sounds and music provided are on point for the content. It's magical, it takes me away from reality temporarily, which is the best stress relief. The app just keeps getting better and better 5 out of 5 stars for sure!

I love this app! So many different types of stories to read. Without paying for the subscription, you have to wait (hours) for the next chapter to become available....but sometimes it's just the suspense you need! I do like it because I can get lost in several stories at the same time and still have plenty to read each day!

Great stories, but cost. I love the storylines. it keeps you coming back for more. But I guess that's to get you to keep purchasing to read the next chapter. I would rather pay a one-time fee for a book than to keep paying g for a chapter 💯. I made several purchases, and it would have been nice to get free points or an extra chapter or 2 as a thank you, but no. Sad to say, whenever I Finnish the book I'm reading, I'm deleting this app. So frustrating 😫

Like the app so far. The books have been really good. The only 2 problems that I've had are 1: the chapters sometimes take a long time to load and the major issue 2: there is sometimes this random music that will play even if I have the sound of for that book. It usually doesn't go off unless I close the app

I've never been an e-book reader. Always sticked to actual books. But I came across a ad for a book that interested me & it's solely as an e-book for this app. I've had this app for less than a week & already run into 2 errors. First the second book to the series that interested me in downloading the app wasn't loading. Got that to work but now the second book I purchased is no longer available & having to wait the 5hrs to read the next chapter. Reported it. Annoyed by so many bugs already.
