This app feels like an after thought and doesn't give you a smooth or complete experience. For example, you can't select "not interested" in the app, and the ux is confusing and not intuitive. It took forever to even find recommendations, figure out what clicking a button did (I got it wrong and it took forever to revert), and confusing to navigate. It doesn't update a screen after you take an action until you refresh. Just not a clean experience.

It's Great, But.. The app had all the books I was looking for, but at a price. It gave a sample piece then asked if you would like to go purchase the book or continue reading it on Kindle. I do not have any sort of an Amazon account, I just wanted free books and nothing more. Defininetly one of the better reading apps I've come across, but left with a sort of disappointed feeling.

Great app for sharing and reviewing books. I often use it to get others opinions and I can connect with authors through their pages. I even had a couple comment on my reviews and friend me, definitely a plus. Sometimes the date read feature glitches out and I have some books in the wrong order, which can be frustrating. I will sometimes find books I just read at the end of the list, and I can't figure out how to fix them. That's the only negative thing I can think of.

While the website is great, the Android app is annoyingly buggy. For months now, I've been unable to sort my "read books" by date started or finished. This is because the entered dates don't show up as having been entered--except when you go into the area where you enter them. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but it didn't help. Goodreads, PLEASE, fix this bug!
Absolutely Not.
I have a few problems with this app. First of all, I think that the page isn't very customizable/free. For example, you can't do .5 stars, you can't put your lists in a custom order, etc... Secondly, the rating system is just broken sometimes. For example, 'Turtles all the Way Down' has 43,000 reviews, but when I click on the button to see all of them, it only shows me one. Idk, might be an android problem but it's just broken.

No way to change your review to a specific edition of a book. No way (that I can find) to search only your shelves. No way to view previous years' reading challenges. You have to go to the desktop website, not even the mobile version, to do these things. The app is stable but its functionality is sorely lacking. The developer has responded saying that they would like to "add" the features. But these things were possible in previous versions of the app. At some point they were taken out.

This app is even worse than the Goodreads website, which navigates like it hasn't been redesigned since the 90s. My personal gripe is that mobile users can't search for lists! The only option is to filter by genre. And when you DO look at a list, be very careful choosing which book to tap on, because pressing "back" from a book's page to return to the list you were just on takes you to your home screen. It's infuriating.

Love being able to track books and seeing what my friends are reading. I really, REALLY wish there was a way to remove books from "currently reading" without the app thinking I've finished it and adding it to my books read that year. I'm constantly starting books and not finishing them in favor of something else that comes up, I feel like there should be a "did not finish" or "put off" option that won't add books to your reading challenge.

They removed the option to view the current year's books (like the end of the year one but you could see it as you added to it). I can only see it on the browser now so what even is the point of this app. Thinking of deleting it as I'm using storygraph now too and the app is much smoother and has more features that are pretty cool. Update: storygraph has the end of year wrapup thing too and it's much more robust. Think I'll start using that and encourage others to try it out!

It's an okay app, but it behaves strangely sometimes. I'm not sure if it's that the data just isn't refreshing properly or what. As an example, when I add a new book into my "Currently Reading" shelf, it will show as Read in certain views, but Currently Reading in others. And then because of that, I can't actually update the reading progress of the book. I often have to go to the website to get things synced up properly again.

I enjoy this app when it works, but it has a lot of bugs! It's fun and informative to be able to read reviews and see what my friends and favorite authors are reading. A lot of times books I add to a list (i.e read, reading, to be read, etc.) mysteriously vanish from that list, and are either gone completely or reappear on the wrong list. This is SO frustrating!

I love that I can set a goal for the year and update my progress. I wish that I could edit the page numbers for the book I'm reading though. Some editions have a different number of pages than what goodreads has programmed. And finding an alternative cover is not a common solution. If I want an accurate progress report, I have to use a calculator to find the proper percentage to enter. It's pretty annoying. Also, you can't search for people unless you are friends on a separate platform like FB

The Android app has always been great, but a recent glitch won't let me move a book from "currently reading" to "read," (won't update with dates or read status, and doesn't add to my Reading Challenge). I was able to go to the online site and do it manually, but it's still not working on my mobile app. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but it's still not working. For me, this completely ruins the functionality of the mobile app.

The last few updates have been terrible! I have been using Goodreads for YEARS and tracked my reading across so many series. Books that I know I've read, appear on my Read shelf, sometimes say read on the list page and sometimes they say want to read, and when I tap on the book and go to the page, it says want to read. It doesn't always show that I've read the book. This makes me not want to read! I've chosen podcasts many times instead of books because this is confusing!

I like the android version MUCH less than the ios one. Firstly, the fact that you're unable to change or even look at other editions of the book is very frustrating. Now I have to go onto the computer/desktop version to change editions. Also under the 'my books' tab, not being able to see the progress bar for current reads unless you go individually to update each book is also inconvenient. Why is this version lacking? Otherwise, I've always loved goodreads and it's my #1 for book tracking!

I love Goodreads for the ability to keep track of my reading and reading goals, and I enjoy seeing what my friends are reading. The app, however, doesn't work correctly on my android phone. I can't update my "currently reading" books on the app; they keep switching to the "want to read" shelf, no matter how many times I try to change shelves, restart my phone, restart the app, or reinstall the app. I decided to just use the web version.

I honestly love this app. But it seems to be kinda glitching out lately and adding books here and there to my read or currently reading lists randomly. And then it says read on a book I just started it and when I try to change it to currently reading it will not work. Even if I remove it from my books and try again it still says read and will not change. I truly love the app but it's frustrating.

I love Goodreads, I do, or maybe I did? Things that used to be features, like comparing my books and ratings to those of my friends seem to be silently disappearing, while the bugs of this app seem to be piling up with no fix in sight. Between the slow deterioration of the app and the lack of developer response to reviews, it almost feels abandoned. And yet it still gets updates. The worst problem? Hit or miss if you'll get to read the reviews for a given book on the app.
