Description of Hanping Chinese Dictionary Pro

Look up Mandarin Chinese words offline using English, Pinyin or Chinese characters (Hanzi) in a clean, intuitive, yet powerful interface.

Please report any bugs or suggestions to us via e-mail. Most emails we respond to within 12 hours (often 1 hour, sometimes 1 minute!).

This is the paid version of our old free version Hanping Lite. For the past 5 years, active development has been for this Pro app only. If you are coming from Lite, then these are the additional features to expect:

★ AnkiDroid Flashcards support (bulk export as well as auto-export when a Chinese word is starred/tagged) for studying using Anki flashcards (spaced repetition system)
★ Backup/Restore starred/tagged Chinese words, notes and history
★ Over 7,000 example sentence translations
★ 376 additional Hanzi Stroke Animations (839 total) - single-character headwords auto-animate. For multi-character headwords, use long-press
★ New History screen grouping items by date. If you prefer the old history style, then you can revert in the Settings screen
★ Stars and custom tags now also show in search results and word popups
★ Support for HSK 3.0 (as well as 2.0) and the ability to import predefined lists as custom tags. For example, this gives you more control over what, if any, HSK tags show next to each headword

I've been in China studies for over 50 years. What a convience to have a dictionary in l can carry in my pocket wherever I go. It's not as complete as those I have on my bookshelf, but its size more than makes up for that.

TOTALLY NECESSARY APP. -More stroke animations than Pleco (Paid feauture) -Best App available to practice pronuntiation tones and pairs. (Paid feauture) Much better than any books. Excellent sound quality.

Well worth the money! I LOVE this app 5 stars but PLEASE! I love the layout and the way you can save words into your own tags. but pls make it easier to copy the pin yin. it's a little frustrating.

Hands down the best Chinese Dictionary available. It's intuitive, and much less "clunky" than others and has a cool flashcard widget. 10/10 would recommend

Very happy, I also enjoy the additional example sentences very much. I love the pronunciation, I am able to listen slower and also normal speed.

Amazing dictionary, i love how it interacts with anki By the way, can i save a custom sentence and incorporate it with the dictionary? And i don't see any "search" feature inside tagging system, so how do i search sentence or words in my own tagging system... I made some own sentences to aid memorization and i want to be able to search the sentence in the future

Been using this app for years. It's a good counterpart to Pleco. I like the HSK tags which make it easy to look up the characters and words for each HSK level. I'd give it 5 stars but when I try to report an incorrect entry my email bounces back as their server says I'm spam.

There are some characters that can't be searched via "writing" those Chinese characters. I have to use the google keyboard to write that character down and then paste it over. This would be a perfect app once this problem is solved.

A wonderful app. You can enter English or Chinese and it easily brings up the opposite language. Ability to add words and sentences to AnkiDroid for extra practice. Add-ons available.

2022-9 Love the new update. Far more info for diving into on screen. Hanping pro is once again a must get for Chinese learners! -- Always been my go to chi-eng e-dict. The screen reader ocr blew me away with happiness months ago in my Chi-lang studies. And now I found hanping Anki card set it blows past the multitude other android chinese card reader apps I thought were good. Totally worth anki learning curve

Love this app, the UI is really good. I also like the "tag" menu. I hope Hanping pro can add more sentence examples (especially for HSK 5 and 6 because although I purchased ABC CN-Eng add on they don't provide many example for higher HSK level). I wish hanping pro can also add HSK list based on the new version (HSK 1-9).

Area for writing characters with your fingers is too small now. I also don't like their new decomposition of characters (it looks messy to me) but maybe other people dont mind it. The reason for the low stars is due to making the writing area too small.

Id give 5 stars but I have a problem with the widget app. Every time i press on the flashcard widget to open the extended info about a character it opens a new instance of the app instead of replacing the previous. It sometimes creates a very large number and uses lots of ram. Looking for a fix.

SCAM!!! I paid money to this app like 9 years ago and recommended it to dozens of people but now they force payment for basic stuff. I mean nowadays I speak, read and write fluent Chinese but Google translate does a better job without having to pay double. They keep replying like I'm a madman complaining about nothing. They're charging extra money for a completely free service now. I search jie hui and get 70% behind a pay wall. This is a scam app and don't listen to their reply, read my edits.

I've been using this app since 2015. No regrets ^_^ . I love the ease of use and the fact that it includes the radical list with examples and writing options to find characters you don't recognize. Totally recommend!

Long term user of the app, bought all addons, super useful. 5 stars. -However the latest update is visually not helpfull. Please let me switch to list style for recent searches as before. -Font size way to big when pasting text -Clunky feeling now. Please let me go back to old behaviour, I'll even pay extra money if you let me go back.

It would be fantastic if developer could include tone pairs for reading three or four words that all contain "third tone." Developers can "spice up Widget," and it would be fantastic if they could add new features under pro, such as "lockscreen theme," to make memorizing Chinese words more fun.

I have been using this App for many years and loving it. My Chinese friends are also very impressed. i added dictionaries and stroke order as well. i find it has many errors in the Radicals, this area needs a full review.
