Can no longer hear translations whenever I try to click on it. Upgraded to Android 14 recently which is what I think has caused the issue. Strange that Google can't keep their apps up to date...

What happened to the app?! I loved it so much, new voice feature is so horrible, I say things in one language it hears it in another although I clearly chose another one? What happened?! One update made translations uncomfortable to be seen, another ruined my favourite voice feature.

Thank you for fixing the problem. Now I have tried the application and no errors appear, such as: It asks you to go to the Google application and click on Allow mandatory access permissions for Photo and Video Gallery. Once you click, everything is accessed automatically. I'm sure your action to remove the error will not last, it is temporary, and the mandatory permissions will return. But I will alert you when the error comes back again

Overall improvements in translation but the convenience of being able to highlight certain parts of a photo was removed so the entire picture is translated. Which CAN be very useful but i find it terrible when I wish to translate a single part of a sentence and I have to tediously drag through all the characters and it's a pain to do when it accidently highlights other words. Also, I am really annoyed google lens must be downloaded, wasnt needed before. App still has ways to go....

Nice app, but it would be great if it showed alternate translations below the main translation. The website used to have that, but I don't see it in the app. Google often misses regional colloquialisms, which isn't surprising, but seeing alternate translations would help clarify things. Also I'd love to see Cherokee included in future updates.

Our little made a Hispanic friend who recently immigrated here with her family. While play is a universal language (they can play together for hours with talking) this app has really came in handy for when we do need to communicate with her friend or her family. It misfires every now and then, but that's to be expected because of different dialects and accents, but as a whole it works great!

Google Assistant already immediately Translates tons of languages With Audio. Idk why they made a separate app to Translate, since Google Assistant is far more useful, and can do immediate Translation with Audio Incase you dont know how to pronouce words in other languages. However, Google has some of the most useful tools available to all. This one just seems a lot less useful.

Very bad experience with the new current update. It used to be better. The problem I have is converting Simplified Chinese to Traditional Chinese. You would expect the least error, because it's not converting from one language to another. No! It totally change many words or terms! It even insert words that I didn't type!

Lens is not available? Then what is the point of this type of application if you cant use a basic feautre? I have a book that is 100% in Hindi given to me by someone who doesn't know what it says. My one shot to finally find this out is ruined. Thanks a lot. And i see that you have thrown a lot of people under the bus beecause of connstant errors.

I have used Google translate for about 10 years, and mostly without issue. However, given that Google translate is over ten years old AND supports a number of somewhat obscure languages (Aymara?; Mizo?; Tatar?), it is unacceptable that it does not support Cantonese. Yes, it offers traditional Chinese. But Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese Chinese are two different languages. Why no response, Google?

Love it overall, except one thing. I wish I could hide "all languages" drop down list. I keep accidentally hitting one of the languages under this list by mistake and then that language shows up under my "recent language" list automatically. And there is no way to remove that language from the "recent language" list. I therefore have to uninstall this app and reinstall every time I accidentally hit any other language, which is quite annoying.

Update: Since my last, (scathing), review much has been done to improve the translator's UI. Since then Google's Translate app is back near the top of the heap, though I still avoid the floating translate button. (-1 star) The instant translation feature using the phone's camera is especially useful and the inclusion of "translate" within most cut/paste dialogues is also valuable.

Good, working, helpful but since the Google lens was imbedded in it's functions, the app is slower and often doesn't produce results. Multiple times it just crashes. Downloaded languages are shown not available offline or notified to re-download the languages. Oops! It is hard to see that no Kham Magar languages is available or included yet including Tibetan languages. Add Kham Magar languages and Tibetan languages and you get 10 stars!

I don't know why recently this app can't translate anything anymore... it keep showing "check your internet connection" while I have high speed internet connection at home through Wi-Fi and mobile data. It keeps happening even if I've restarted my phone. Is it a bug or something?

It had been useful for me years ago, but for the past year it keeps on telling me it can't translate because it can't connect to network (but all my other apps and mobile browser are working, even on mobile data). Clearing data, uninstalling, restarting phone, then reinstalling would work for a day, then same error happens again. Apparently a lot of users also have same issue from the Help and Feedback site for this. UPDATE 8/6/23: Still cannot translate after a while after restarting.

The reason I'm giving 4 stars is because of the speech output. Your app does not have the speech output of some few languages which I wanted to hear! Please add the remaining speech outputs in the new update as soon as possible If possible please add all the maximum amount of speech outputs.Otherwise, it's a great app and I will give you 5 stars if you do this quickly.

What happened in this app??? I was able to use it conveniently without any problems until just a few days ago, but suddenly an error message started appearing. Even though I'm connected to the internet, the message "Please check your connection" appears. I even downloaded it so I could use it offline! Am I the only one facing this problem?

Not working on my android after a recent system update. The app doesn't translate regardless of the language selected. I uninstalled and installed the app back, but the issue remains. It is not working at all.
