Description of Android Accessibility Suite

Android Accessibility Suite is a collection of accessibility apps that help you use your Android device eyes-free or with a switch device.

Android Accessibility Suite includes:
• Accessibility Menu: Use this large on-screen menu to lock your phone, control volume and brightness, take screenshots, and more.
• Select to Speak: Select items on your screen and hear them read aloud.
• TalkBack screen reader: Get spoken feedback, control your device with gestures, and type with the on-screen braille keyboard.

To get started:
1. Open your device's Settings app.
2. Select Accessibility.
3. Select Accessibility Menu, Select to Speak, or TalkBack.
• For TalkBack, you can also press and hold both volume keys.

Android Accessibility Suite requires Android 6 (Android M) or later. To use TalkBack for Wear, you'll need Wear OS 3.0 or later.

Permissions Notice
• Phone: Android Accessibility Suite observes the phone state so it can adapt announcements to your call status.
• Accessibility Service: Because this app is an accessibility service, it can observe your actions, retrieve window content, and observe text that you type.
• Notifications: When you allow this permission, TalkBack can notify you about updates.

Note: Switch Access has been removed from the Android Accessibility Suite. You can download the Switch Access app instead (https://g.co/play/switchaccess).

Talkback activates randomly which makes the phone practically unusable unless you use the Hey Google feature. I'm sure it is a useful feature for some and glad it is an option for others. For me the problem is the random turn on of Talkback.

Too larze accessibility shortcuts learn something it must be best visible like easy touch app not be in a very bad visual look it's display too larse it must be too small and without displaying accessibility icon symbol over of it...too poor service team Google.

I have programmed point of sale and Window PC's for over 20 years, I now have glaucoma, my right eye is completely blind. hence the reason why I was trying to find a service that would help me stay in the industry. I thought I found that service , instead I got anxiety & pretty sure PTSD. I feel that permissions and settings are purposely misleading so disabled GOOGLE features. Google, it's way to intrusive , change the way you "assist" it's a gateway for crooks. My 100% honest opinion

Awful , Awful, Awful...... I could not figure how this was helpful. I wish i could disable or uninstall it. This app is more trouble thans it is worth . switches off permission to apps i have given permission too. including my AVG permissions which it turns off repeatedly . this then enabled malware to infect and brick my phone. lifelong android user is now going to try Apple . thanks for 20 plus years off loyalty being lost.

Seeing the changelog with 'bug fixes' is so disheartening. We've now been relegated to the same dev team as youtube, clearly. Imagine using a piece of software to actually read the screen. In other words, imagine someone tore your eyes out for a software update, threw them back in and were like okay, we've fixed the bugs in something you rely on to use your phone successfully. But don't worry, we can't pay the development team to write, at most, a few hundred words to tell you what's new. RIP!

I selected this app so I can let my Samsung Galaxy s22 5G Ultra Android phone read to me long news articles from the Notes app while I am working out. It didn't work. Audio is coming out of the small speaker for phone calls instead of the large speakers used for speaker phone calls or videos. Uninstalled

I am told that hackers are now using accessibility features. Is it Google? At many sites, I get a tiny accessibility symbol that will not go away. A tiny outstretched blue man in a tiny blue circle. The Google toggle has no effect. Google won't help. Sometimes do-gooders are as bad as evil men. Or are easily used by bad people.

OMG! Somehow accidentally turned this on and thought I was going to have to throw away my phone to stop it. It made it totally unusable, even rebooting the phone didn't turn it off. What a very, very, very bad idea. This app should not come preinstalled on phones! Even turning the volume button to mute couldn't be quiet it. What a horrible, horrible thing to wake up to!

I agree with others about the bugs and drawbacks of the current version. I want the old version back; I could operate my phone more easily. The voice slowed and i can't get it back to where i had it, no matter what I do. Who the heck thought this would be an improvement? I hope google is paying attention. Please put gestures back to what they used to be.

Ever since this last update when i try to use gboard boice input button, it keeps talking while i'm trying to speak. Saying"listening ... Speak now..." every two or three seconds and it drives me nuts. It could be from the receint gboard update too. I've went through the setting of both apps and haben't been able too figure out how to stop it. If you even CAN stop it? I wish I could just go back to the last version.

9.1 - i can no longer listen to ebooks due to the terrible lag between when i tap the screen and when it actually starts reading the text(30 seconds) Please please fix this. I used this app daily and have not been able to for a while now. Roll back whatever... This is not the only issue. Fix it. This is quite literally unacceptable for multiple reasons.

CANT DELETE! UNINSTAL. STILL THERE I'm sure it's very helpful to a particlar population but it's not what I thought it was. I can't uninstall it; I tried twice. I also tried turning my phone off and restarting it. I can't get rid of this app. The icon floating over the screen is very distracting and I keep tapping it in error. I did contact the developers for help. I gave it 5 stars because I have no complaints about how the app works. I just can't uninstall it. I hope to hear from the admins.

I love the concept of this app and it has helped me considerably when used; however, it is difficult for me to access due to where it's located. We should be given the option to have it either placed on the navigation bar or as a slightly transparent floating icon that can be freely moved around on screen. This would provide me the ability to easily access it higher up on my screen when I need it and would let me move it to a location that fits my needs. I beg you to PLEASE consider my idea!!!

I tried turning on this app because I thought I could use it for hands free operation when I'm driving. Instead it almost totally disabled my phone and started loudly reading every icon on my screen. Luckily I was not driving at the time. I couldn't figure out the double-tap to activate, and it took me several minutes to navigate to settings and turn the silly thing off. Hopefully I can uninstall it.

I was typing to someone and out of nowhere the screen started clicking off and on. I have lost my typing, and now my screen is in a locked landscape view. I always view in a locked portrait. I can't seem to change it, nor can I find assessibility in settings. This phone has more issues wrong with it everytime I update, I should have left it alone, it was fine before. I would have given this 0 stars, but zero is not offered.

Please, just copy the way Apple does select to speak. I love everything about Android except select to speak and will have to go back to apple. Android Select to speak does not work if you don't have a navigation bar at the bottom. I get with this app the "no readable content" error on content that my iPhone can read. It also interferes with video play back on YouTube. You have to "x" out if the play next menu vs it going away on its own. This is a real deal breaker for the visually impaired.

I don't love that I have to reopen the Talk Back reader and press play for the select to speech function on every single page of an ebook individually, but that's been my only real gripe so far. I love that I can change the voice pitch and speed of the AI voice to make it more comfortable to listen to. Also, the transcribe feature has been a lifesaver on a few occasions. Overall, it's a great addition to my phone.

Terrible! I can't adjust it and it won't auto scroll. The voice is a chipmunk on crack. It goes so fast it is completely unhelpful for those of us with text based disabilities. I mean I'm a smart person but I need to hear things a bit slowed down or I can't understand them and this is so fast I usually have no clue what it's saying. There is also no easy way to make it work with text that is longer than the screen so I end up hearing repeats innstead of seemlessly hearing the article.
