It's decent, but the management of contacts and your message history is muddled and confusing. They should give you more control over what messages are backed up and how instead of it being a random thing between devices, and the option to keep all your contacts in Skype separate from the contacts on your phone or other linked accounts.

I just want the app to work. That includes accessing voicemail messages. They never play, but the little wheel spins like it's trying to play. And spins and spins and spins. I close the app. Try again. More spinning. I restart the phone. Try again. More spinning. I uninstall and reinstall. Spinning. I have to go to my desktop and access voicemail through it instead. This is worthless. I've reported this, it's been going on for more than a year now. FIX IT, GENIUSES!

Skype has come a long way. It's a much better app today than it was years ago. The calls and video are clear, and if you lose connection, the app does its best to hang on to the call until the connection is restored. Sometimes when two people may talk at once, one gets drowned out (the audio cuts out) and you miss what's said by the other person. This is an otherwise great app that helps keep me connected with people around the world.

Alerts dont work well. It doesnt make any sound when messages OR calls are coming in, and yes- I made sure all my phone and app settings were correct. Video calls don't work, on at least one side most of the time, and calls very often do not go through on/from either party. App icons do not appear for new messages either. Yes, I have it enabled.

I don't like the interface. In general it seems like it could be easier to use, specifically I don't like that it can't show which chats have new messages or notifications. It notifies you that there are new messages to read but it doesn't show you which ones they are in. If it's not in the first few chats in the list above the scroll line, you have to go looking for them.

This app works well on my tablet, as expected, and is pretty similar to the version on my laptop. But I'm having audio issues that I can't correct, such as, after a long silence on voice call, the audio will have become hypersensitive, picking up the slightest sound, and is jarring to the other caller when it kicks back in. I'd like an option for adjusting the mic settings beyond built in auto adjust and mute. Other than that I love this app. Thanks Skype. 💕

Right now, I'm outside US and trying to set up a monthly plan to make calls. First off, the app constantly disconnects from the network. I'm on a fast and stable connection, literally never had an issue. Second, I'm trying to set up a monthly plan to make calls back home. Can't, they decline my payments even though everything is right. This app has been nothing but frustrating and a waste of my time.

still a really decent and useful app, but it's slower, clunkier, and harder to deal with than old versions. Just upgraded my phone, and I'm mildly disappointed at all of the dancing smiley faces everywhere, and the fact that it takes three to five times as long to place a phone call. if you guys had a simple interface, that was fast, and light, I would totally go for that option.

it works well when it works at all which is rare. i can hit both the call and video chat button until I'm blue in the face but i can't call or video chat anyone. it can't send messages either because it says "sending" and stays there for all eternity. it will not do anything. it's not my wifi because i have full, good quality wifi and I'm connected to it. so....might want to do some serious debugging.

new notification sound is absolutely horrible. it's super quiet even with notifications turned to max(which makes my other apps play annoyingly too loud). I have missed every single message over the last two days because of it. I have been using Skype on mobile since I had a BlackBerry in 2009 and long before that on pc. about done with it now. you would think after all these years they would allow you to customize notifications. will not be updating the app on my other devices until fixed.

Skype has been my go to video conference platform for nearly a decade. Some of that time was kind of underwhelming as Microsoft was taking it through multiple botched iterations. I think it is better than ever, even with some limitations. I don't use the mobile version that often but on some calls last week I was impressed with its responsiveness, intuitive controls and modern look. Microsoft needs to make it better: better integration with GroupMe, Onedrive integration etc.

The latest version has made Skype almost completely unresponsive. There's long delays in button inputs and sending basic messages. Simple texts become a chore. There's now many options and competitors. If Microsoft wants to keep up, they frankly to need to start considering how to out perform the rest instead doing bare minimum. We will migrate if this keeps up. Otherwise shut the service down MS.

Nothing but problems with this one. Using on a Note 8. Everytime I get a video/audio call, the notification sound keeps playing over and over again during the call. If I try to dismiss the notification it just comes right back. I have to disable notifications for Skype completely to get it to stop, but then I don't get notified that I'm getting a call or message. I've tried going through all the settings in Skype and my phone to get it to work properly but no luck. Gonna probably ditch this one.

I've used the Skype app on my phone for 5 years now for business when I am traveling. For last year and half the app has a glitch that they still haven't fixed. The app rings but you can't answer the call it just shows the call history but doesn't show you the actual incoming call so you can answer the call. I end up missing half the calls coming in. Maybe only 40 to 50% of the time it shows the incoming call and you can successfully answer l. Skype real needs to fix this problem.

Great voice/video quality, but I do not always get notifications or sound alerts. Sometimes I'm waiting for texts while using another app, only to find out I received it 10 minutes ago but wasn't alerted. Also, it scrambles the order of messages in a conversation then reorders properly after reopening the app. Would be nice to be able to change ring tones, backgrounds, etc.

The app works great when it does, but is at the mercy of the strength of your data network. I also have a lot of issues with Bluetooth. When I am connected to my car and I turn off the car, the call is disconnected instead of switching to the handset. In fact, switching away from any active Bluetooth device disconnects the call instead of defaulting to the handset like all other apps do. In the previous version there was an option to manually select another bluetooth device but now its gone.

Great app! video and audio quality can be improved, but wifi quality probably contributes to that. So far, this app has only had a 3-4 second delay. Others are much worse. I really like the fact that I can use Skype on any device without paying for a phone line. Not sure why, my recently updated version does not have an audio only function. I can't send audio messages. No microphone button included. But overall a very good app.

Overall the app is fine. It has the loudest call speaker of any app I use, the video quality changes resolution based on connection, and the UI is quick & easy to use. That said, I have my issues with the app. The audio drops on my end while my friends hear static, leading to whole sentences being muted while we both try to find good connection spots, and my battery also drains rapidly when I'm just texting even if my phone is charging. The battery drain is what really kills the score though.
