The new update is awful. Everytime i go to the remote, i have to reconnect it to my TV because it disconnected after 2 seconds. The interface is horrible. EDIT: 3 years later and they messed it up again. Even if i close out of the app for a second, it disconnects and i have to close and open the app again. Ever. Single. Time. Please fix it, it's so annoying! Has been like this since the last update. Edit #2 they updated and broke it AGAINNNNNNN

Still love the headphone option for private listening! But......recently the app has had an update that removed the solid background with some sort of distorted background which I find annoying and unnecessary. I wish you could choose your desired background, this new one or the traditional solid black. My vote would be solid black.

I have been using the Roku Mobile App for years, & it use to work so great & was a life saver when the kids would loose the remote. But now it's kicking me out of the app or it says my tv isn't on the same wifi when it clearly is or I'll be in the middle of an app on the remote and boom I get booted off. It's becoming more glitchy & it's a huge hassle now. Also it's not my wifi because my signal on both phone and tv are excellent and my phone is a newer model. Idk but I'm over it.

Uses notifications to display ads, so automatic 1 star. Doesn't matter if I can use android to disable that, that abuses users who don't know how to. As well, the remote widget this app gives is useless. It will stop working after you haven't had the Roku app open for a while, and has to start the app back up to keep working when you interact with it. This means it literally acts as just an oversized shortcut to start up the app half the time.

the full size units with the earplugs remotes are essential for anyone with Bluetooth hearing aids. the channel, not so much, too easy to accidentally add premium content Update. And taking away a couple of stars. 1The above function linking to the Roku and using the android phone bluetoothed to the hearing aids no longer works with Android 14. using the private listening on the app now freezes it and cannot use it with the hiring aides connected to the phone. i don't know if it updated or what, but now everytime i open the app, it says "no network detected." i have to close and reopen it several times for it to stop. there's also the classic issues that this app has had the entire time I've used it, like how it takes forever to start working when i reopen my phone or switch back from another app. it makes it really difficult to do anything with the remote quickly. UPDATE: the last update resolved these issues for me

Just did the update on my android for the app and now the remote function does not work at all. It clearly is connected to my devices when I review connected devices on the app. But the remote is completely non responsive for all of the actions. Even tried voice actions with no response. I restarted phone, reinstalled app, disconnected and reconnected roku from TV, checked wifi. Nothing worked at all.

I'm sorry but this app is utterly useless. I used it when I lost my remote and just used a sibling's remote to turn my TV on since we have the same type of Roku. Tell me why the app on my phone wants to connect to everything BUT the TV sitting right in front of it. I always thought it was either my phone, TV, Internet, but it's the app. It either needs work or something cause my sibling is having the same issues after ONE use of the app and it's ridiculous cuz their everything works fine.

I like the simple interface. It works very well with my S9+. I don't mind having to reconnect to my Roku Streaming Stick each time I return home. Some have voiced displeasure with that aspect. One suggestion: If possible, I'd like to see a volume control function added so as to remove my reliance on my TV remote for that.

This app never works. When I need it for a remote, it can't find my TV. When I want to connect my headset to the TV, it can't find my TV. A so called "smart" tv cant even connect a headset without having to use a phone and an app, not exaclty smart. I'm really tempted to sell my TV and buy a new one with no roku on it.

This app is great if you never plan on touching your phone or whatever device you have it on. You must remain on the remote feature at all times or else it will disconnect the private listening feature and revert all sound back to the TV without pausing what you're watching. Why in the year 2023 we can't have an app that allows for multitasking is beyond me. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Both my girlfriend and I use this app as our Roku TV remote, and 9/10 times it either won't connect or even register the TV at all. When I do get it to connect it will randomly disconnect and become impossible to reconnect. Sometimes it connects randomly to other close by rokus we've never connected to and when I try to forget them it just immediately reconnects. It would be a really convenient app if it would just connect properly.

This app will absolutely NOT connect to my TV with any device no matter what I do. I literally had to put the TV in guest mode to connect the app to use a Bluetooth speaker. Yes it's on the same wifi; I even tried connecting it manually with the IP address. It just sat there searching. I put the TV in guest mode and POOF there it was. What a huge pain.

app constantly crashes. I receive an error more often than not when trying to watch something. Eventually, it works. it's not conducive to a pleasant watching experience. avoid if possible. EDIT: Knocking down to one star. This app is worthless. Still constant errors or video freezes. Avoid like the plague

This is the worst app I've ever used. I'm consistently being told "No devices found on your network" despite my Roku tv being ON and connected to the internet. My Roku tv does not show up no matter how many times I refresh, close the app out, and connect/disconnect from my network. It takes an unfortunate amount of time for my app to find my tv. I'm very disappointed with this app. I would give it zero stars if I could.

When you are finished using the app, you MUST force stop it or it will massively drain your phone's battery. If you try to limit background battery use, the private listening feature won't work--the sound will keep cutting out every few minutes. Roku is aware of the problem, but keep repeating the advice to limit background battery use, which they know cripples the app.

I'm not sure if this is a problem with the app or the Roku streaming stick. But the app has suddenly stopped being able to find our Roku device. This has never really happened before, we confirmed all of the steps in the Support page. Sudden updates (in either side) breaking regular behavior for the app is very inconvenient.

Horrible remote control update. Roku added a busy and super distracting background picture behind the remote buttons, making it much harder for people with vision issues to clearly see the remote control buttons. It was a neutral color backdrop before, which made it super easy to see the control buttons. No it's awful. I want the clean remote back. If I wanted to view random pictures, I'd go to Insta. No way to change settings back to neutral backdrop. Bad idea, Roku.
