Description of BVG Fahrinfo: Route planner

BVG Fahrinfo is the official Berlin city transport map and ticket purchasing app, use it as your personal journey planner and buy tickets for all transport in and around the city. 🤩🚆

The BVG Fahrinfo app has maps of all transport throughout the city including the bus, train, subway and tram.

How does it work? 🤔

For years, I would have rated this app at 4 to 5 stars, but recently BVG started pushing their Muva service without any option to filter it out from the search results. Since Muva seems to be faster than a regular bus, I can't search for bus connections anymore - annoying!

Worst application.... Cannot trust at all, D-Ticket is not displayed when you need it most during checking. I have a Deutschland ticket subscription and the payment is deducted every month on time yet I often have to suffer from the inconvenience of being accused of travelling without the ticket as the ticket disappears automatically from the application.

About as useful as a printed timetable, though slightly more comfortable in size. Is it really that hard to filter out connections that are not currently available? Foreseeable and scheduled outages like, say, a strike? I mean, you even put up a banner, saying: caution, there's a strike. :facepalm:

A good app in general, but a bit slowly sometimes and I can't adjust the email address used for PayPal... My BVG account uses another email address than PayPal, but this app wouldn't let me change it, so I can't pay with PayPal. @BVG Dev Team: PLEASE separate the account email from the payment method email, it shouldn't be a big deal ;)

The UI is getting better. However, the service behind is getting worse. Services are not reliable (sometimes it shows buses coming on time but they don't even come), and it's not possible to report incidents. However, reporting problems via the web form also doesn't make BVG react. Delays, driver's lack of education, services that never came, nothing seems to be taken care of. I'm paying 64 euros per month for mediocrity not compatible with the quality and punctuality Germany promotes abroad.

Constant internal server error Update : constant error dissapeared, but in case of train cancelling the alternative routes that app suggests are wrong: they are not updated and following trains are being cancelled constantly. I'm surprised how simple rain can cause transport collaps in Berlin

Trip planner works well. Can't tell how to search for a stop to see next arrivals, so I always end up searching for a trip and then clicking on the stop in the trip. Could be useful to have a map that shows the entire trip, like the website does.

In Berlin it apparently is only possible to pay your ticket on the tram with change, bills are not accepted by the machine. Why!? We did not have enough change and could not buy a ticket beforehand because it was a small stop without machine. I installed this app to try and buy tickets. I could not find how to buy multiple tickets at the same time, so I tried to buy them separately. When selecting PayPal as payment method, it required me to install Chrome Browser. Why!? We did not buy tickets.

Works fine, except for when you find a connection and then 1 minute later the app has forgotten about it completely and you need to start again. The only way to use it is by taking screenshots every time....

Searching for stations autocomplete suggestions should show in the near stations first to easier the spelling of the station name, not by alphabet. There is no easy way to know whether you are in zone A, B or C. There should be an option to report any delays or situations during travel.

I think there is a bug that if connection is lost or if app is minimized during the time when I'm waiting for purchase confirmation - ticket fails to download even though money had been paid. This happened many times to me and is very poor engineering. Luckily I hadn't run into ticket police yet under this circumstance.

A bit slow and doesn't seem to cache results for subway stations. Also I don't understand how the lateness indicator works. If it says the train arrives at 12:40 but it's +37 minutes late do I have to add that onto the 12:40 or is the lateness already included in that time? It looks like it's not but then some of the connections it shows wouldn't make sense either.

Generally nice app, but beware of payment issues. I experienced an error during payment which resulted in money being charged with no email confirmation and no tickets. Contacting support didn't help much and I don't want to spend time fighting about 2€, so just be aware

I want to post here a wish/request for this app. TL;DR: I had trouble reporting an elevator out of service because the people behind the hotline number that I found inside the app were not able to get reports in English. I wonder, how difficult it can be to have a button in your app to report this problem automatically without having to call any number, so that even non-native speakers can use it and this kind of issues can be solved more quickly.

For the last year I've been using app fine. Last 2 weeks, I've had pre bought tickets magically activate. And missed several s bahns due to connection time out. The one occasion I took the gamble, a ticket inspector took pitty on me after saying there are lots of problems at the moment. Gone old fashioned until the issue is resolved

Twice has the ticket purchase delay in this app led me to be falsely accused of not having a proper ticket. Nowhere does it clearly state that the tickets must be valid two minutes before entering the vehicle. I have purchased my tickets (over 200 now) as the doors open and I'm still on the platform. Never will i use this ticket application again. Good try to digitalize the system but the enforcement difference of the paper versus digital ticket is insane as it is considered less trustworthy.

Tried to pay via credit card, doesn't accept it because it can't do 3D authentication (or doesn't work). Tried via PayPal, but app links to the online version (not the app) for which I don't know the password by heart. Short: I wanted to pay, but couldn't. Bad payment system.

Can't make payments anymore. I press 'pay', see the redirection to my bank and them i see the http response with the payment redirect url, but nothing happens. I get no ticket and no money is collected. This means I can't use the app to buy the tickets. Always worked fine until yesterday (first time i noticed the issue) Edit: problem has been solved, can pay again :)
