Description of WiFiman

WiFiman is here to save your network from sluggish surfing, endless buffering, and congested data channels. With this free-to-use (and ad-free) app, you can:

* Detect available WiFi networks and Bluetooth LE devices instantly.
* Scan network subnets for additional details on detected devices, such as Bonjour, SNMP, NetBIOS, and Ubiquiti discovery protocols.
* Connect to your UniFi network remotely via Teleport - a free, zero-configuration VPN.
* Conduct download/upload speed tests, store results, compare network performance, and share insights with others.
* Relocate your access points (APs) to nearby data channels to instantly increase signal strength and reduce traffic volume.
* Test the connection speed between your UniFi Dream Machine or UDM Pro and mobile devices.
* See enhanced details about all of the Ubiquiti devices on your network (UniFi, AmpliFi, AirMAX, EdgeMAX, EdgeRouter, EdgeSwitch, UISP, AirCube, AirFiber).


What information does WiFiman show?
You'll see IP address, netmask, gateway, DNS server, SSID, BSSID, signal strength, wireless channel, ping latency, and packet loss information.

WiFiman's network tools include:

Use it all the time. Good app. However, the speedtest results are often very different to other speedtest provider results. Possibly as I am not using Ubiquiti kit

I have about a dozen apps for Wi-Fi analysis, and this is the best. By far. And it doesn't send your info to a hundred, literally, URLs.

VPN keeps turning off without me turning it off. There should be an "Always On" setting. Auto-restart on crash. Something. I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY IT DOESN'T STAY ON.

Latest update don't show overlapping Wi-Fi channels of 40 MHz Wi-Fi bandwidth properly. It used to be good, and there is a dedicated page for showing detailed network information. This is Subjectively for Unifi/Ubiquity devices.

It does a great job. The app allows you to do a quick internet speed test as well as see what networks are available around you. I just wish there was a way to export the speed tests so I could share the results with my ISP.

When you update this app you never know whether it's going to get better or worse. This time, with the UI redesign, much worse. Cell signal graph doesn't work again and it messes with wifi. Wish I hadn't updated.

Used to be great, #1. They ruined it with the latest updates. The scan / network view was great before. You are trying to fit to much into one screen. Rename "scan" to "networks", cause thats what they are. You took away radar discovery mode, why? Put app back like it was 4 updates ago.

I've never reviewed an app before. WiFiman is the best among the 3 apps I tested for reviewing WiFi strength and interference. However, the reason I am rating is instead because I lost my hearing aid on a trail yesterday. It got caught on a branch, then was flung back. With the location beyond a near impassable branch, I wouldn't have possibly found it without WiFiman's bluetooth strength detector. The app saved me >$1000 and possibly saved my life later due to an incident with hearing horn

Fast, simple and ad-free. Made it easy to figure out I was on a locally crowded channel 1. Found there was no one on ch.6, so changed to that one...improved speed drastically! Had no idea this issue was impacting the speed SO much. Went from a dismal 6mps to over 30mps on the 2.4ghz band and 74mps on the 5ghz band. Well worth your time to check this out. 👍🏼

Not adds. Gets to the point of seeing who's on your network. Wifi speeds are accurate for the most part. My only problem is sometimes it displays inaccurate devices connected. I KNOW those devices are not connected. But yet it says they are. Either way I still use it to this day. Decent app.

Man this app is great. I know Android's privacy concerns and battery conservation techniques have limited what they can do in terms of scanning, but this really is the most in-depth tool for a beginner to intermediate networking individual. Discovering the device to device on-network speed tests is a godsend. No more unexpected drops in bandwidth when testing!

Great app and intuitive UI. Allows you to map your wifi signal throughout the house and identify weak spots. You can determine when your device has switched access points to decide where the next access point should optimally be placed. If u are using unifi gear, it has throughput and a lot more information about your network. Highly recommended app for wifi diagnostics and troubleshooting.

This is a great app to have in your arsenal of tools. It does WiFi and BLE scanning, network discovery, and has a built in speed test. It's great for performing WiFi roaming and handoff checks, as well as checking link speeds. Doesn't require a UniFi network to work, but it does have extended functionality on Ubiquiti networks, like Gateway WiFiMan speed tests and AP names. Only improvement I would make is full duplex speed testing, and making the gateway speed test more prominent.

Nice clean interface. Useful for quick information grab. If I could adjust the polling time for the signal strength meter, I would give it 5 stars. As it stands, it doesn't work for my most frequent use-case (tracking down rogue wireless devices) because the poll rate is just too slow.

Combines a couple apps i already use into one, and includes a dark theme. That's pretty good. I do wish that the discovery functionality wasn't automatic. Probing for hosts on a network couple get you flagged as a potential bad actor. It would be best for the user to manually invoke it, perhaps with a warning screen

This app is a no brained for those using a Ubiquiti device. How'd ER you don't need to have a Ubiquiti device to use it. It will work perfectly for any wifi network to analyze your network. The speed test is z great feature to see if you are getting the speeds you should from your Android device through your WiFi metork and from your ISP. Whether you need an in depth look at your bands/channels or signal strength, the app is a must have! No Ads and free!

This app is pretty good for the most part, giving plenty of details. The only issue I have is with the speed test. It seems to pull download speeds fine, but upload speeds seem to be artificially limited for some reason. Every other app I try with give me right around my full 300 Mbps upload on my fiber connection. This one always tops out at 100-150. The web version of the same speed test works fine and shows much closer to all the other apps I've used. Something about the app version has an issue with upload speed test.

Just one suggestion: I find the app easy to use and appreciate the clear UI, but history could be better. For example, when I'm comparing various rooms of my house, I'd like to label the results "bedroom" or "dining room" for example. When I review results on another day, I'd like to be reminded where or how I tested. If this can be done now, I don't see how
