A powerful app and the standard for those of us needing geo located Forest Service maps. Outstanding customer service. My only complaint is the difficulty creating complex routes. Edit... The newest version took a bit to get used to, but after a while it became apparent why the changes. A superior product to begin with now even better.

Indispensible maps for staying on the right path. On the trail, this app is useful. As a tool for trip planning, I found it difficult to match up with Google Maps for things like grocery stores that I would be passing. Maybe I just need to learn how to use it better, but it could be improved with info about good places to camp and get water.

I've had this app for 2 years and I've only just now discovered it's true power, and I haven't even seen its final form yet. From downloading maps to making your own maps, two expanding on existing maps and exporting them, to adding layers to maps and exporting the layers to other maps, to navigating and tracking in so much more, this is the best app if you are an outdoors person.

This app with the use of the Bayfield WI snowmobile trail map help us get out of the woods because the trails were not marked well all the time. We were running low on gas and it was starting to get dark. We had been trying to get back to our starting point for over 1.5 hours. This app showed us exactly where we were on the trail. It is highly endorsed and recommended. Just remember it does use GPS and you can always lose the signal so you should always have alternate Maps available.

Use it almost every day. I'm a full time traveler and find it super useful to be able to download the same free maps from the forestry service that show where dispersed camping is allowed. I often buy the color maps that have more information and have had no problem updating them when a new version comes out. I use it while driving the first roads at the same time I have Google Maps running on my trucks console through Android Auto. Very useful to have both going at the same time.

I only have this app because I'm forced to use it for some national scenic trails and parks, but even that is getting less every day as apps like Gaia map out more trails. I've yet to download a "sourced" map that tells me where I am on the map tile, it doesn't hold what map you're looking at in memory, and the list of maps doesn't seem to keep itself in any discernable order. With any luck, this apl will be made completely obsolete sooner than later. I could go on, but I'm out of characters.

Seems to be a very good app. I'm using the free version, and I've imported a lot of USGS topo maps as well as BLM and recreational maps available in the store. I might upgrade so the imported maps are referenced. I live where there are thousands of square miles of BLM land, relatively unmarked, no phone signal, and when I go into the field I carry GPS units, compasses and paper maps as well as my phone with this app, but in late winter sitting at home this is a great research tool.

This app does exactly what it says it does, with exactly the kind of common sense functionality that is missing from so many apps. All the features you'd want are here, and they're all intuitive to use. Sometimes maps have trouble loading or downloading, but it's pretty minor and my phone is old anyway. TLDR this app does what Google Maps don't.

I use it for mountain biking, dirt biking, and hunting on DNR and Forest property. It is basic but works really well and the location accuracy is really good. I also recently started using the tracking feature with keeps track of your distance and overlays your tracks of the map. The one issue I had was before I used the tracking was that when coming up trail intersections, the direction I was facing wasn't always spot on and I wouldn't know which way to go.

I absolutely LOVE this app!!! We travel a lot and stay on people's property across the U.S. and I always download maps for the areas we are going to be in. I love checking out the older topo maps and seeing what I can find and it's really fun to show the property owners what used to be around. I've also found a cave that a property owner didn't know they had, super cool! I also use it for metal detecting to find good places to go! 10/10 this app is awesome!

Excellent maps! They are great for navigating roads that often have missing rd signs. My only very small complaint would be that they have used older versions of these forest service maps (at least in Oregon). So, you sometimes are on roads that aren't on the map, but are on newer versions of the map. However, this is a not very common issue. Also they work with no cell reception.

I love Avenza. I used them for a field job and now I use them for hiking. Very useful when you're back country without cell data... it's the next best thing to a paper map. The phone's GPS is relatively precise. We used it last weekend to navigate a wilderness area and only got lost once. The biggest downside is you have to find georeferenced pdfs to download. The Avenza store has many available but it's definitely the biggest limiting factor. But it's free (unlike Alltrails!)!!!!!

It's ok. Used some free maps from USGS. Didn't have time to learn much about the app before using. Mostly used to double check where we were in relation to the river we were hiking up. Annoying that I had two maps to bounce back and forth between when I was close to my destination though...but worked fast and efficiently picking up my location(they were free...you get what you pay for). I haven't used any other mapping apps so it's a solid 4+ stars.

Amazing - so easy to navigate hiking trails. I thought that this would be a glitchy app - not sure why I assumed that, but it is insanely helpful, especially if you are in a park with trails that are not marked well. It also helps you know the upcoming elevation changes - obviously that depends on the individual maps that you download, but for state parks in Minnesota, this is a game changer.

I sent in a review previously because the search method has changed and I couldn't find maps. Tech support contacted me about the keyword setup and then it seems they have done an upgrade to works much better also. Thanks!. I have beena fan for a long time before that, and now I am happy that I can add new maps easily. I love how you can make a track of where you go, especially when hiking off trail as I can the go back later and look at where I have been and where I might want to go next.

covered many trails this summer and app worked very well with the exception of one area. Maps were accurate but nearly 1/2 mile off actual location. This only happened in one area so im not sure why. Everywhere else in the state it was right on. I always used in conjunction with BLM maps and GPS. It would be a good feature to be able to orient map in this situation.

This app worked awesome. I have been a outdoors person for years. Paper topo and a compass navigation for 40+ years. With this and the local map downloaded I do not know how one could get lost. It had me correctly placed on the map. I did have a paper map with me just incase I lost or damaged the phone. That's just good practice. I recommend the use of this app hands down. A personal thanks to the developer. This saves time and let's me play more. Download and start the adventure.

Perfect for what I need. I got it because I like to hike but I'm very directionally challenged. I also am working towards a hiking miles goal this year. This app keeps track of my miles, shows me on the map where I've hiked already, and as I point my phone, the arrow on the map points in the direction I am going. So easy! Also I like that you can use this while offline (when you don't have service). Planning a solo trip in two months in an area without service, and this'll make it easy!
