Description of Voice Access

Voice Access helps anyone who has difficulty manipulating a touch screen (e.g. due to paralysis, tremor, or temporary injury) use their Android device by voice.

Voice Access provides many voice commands for:
- Basic navigation (e.g. "go back", "go home", "open Gmail")
- Controlling the current screen (e.g. "tap next", "scroll down")
- Text editing and dictation (e.g. "type hello", "replace coffee with tea")

You can also say "Help" any time to see a short list of commands.

Voice Access includes a tutorial which introduces the most common voice commands (starting Voice Access, tapping, scrolling, basic text editing, and getting help).

You can use the Google Assistant to start Voice Access by saying "Hey Google, Voice Access". To do this, you’ll need to enable "Hey Google" detection. You can also tap either the Voice Access notification or a blue Voice Access button and start talking.

To pause Voice Access temporarily, just say "stop listening". To disable Voice Access completely, go to Settings > Accessibility > Voice Access and turn off the switch.

This app uses the AccessibilityService API to help users with motor impairments. It uses the API to collect information about the controls on the screen and activate them based on the user’s spoken instructions.

First of, it would not even download. My phone is the latest Samsung galaxy S23 plus... so, I don't believe it's any problems with the version of my phone

The app works well BUT I need to turn it on and off. Stop listening only ends the session, not the app. When I unlock my phone, it runs again on its own. You typically want to use this for example while driving and stop using it wen you get out of car. So some easy way how to turn it on and off is needed. Going to settings and turning off Voice Access every time is so annoying that it makes the app unusable.

Although a good idea, and it often works well, it is not without it's glitches. One I find most annoying is: Often, when I give a command, it has the irritating habit of repeating it. For example, if I say "go back", it will often go back two screens, rather than the desired one. And when typing by voice, if I dictate, e.g., "For example", it will type it twice. And when, after saying "show numbers", I select a number, it will select it twice in succession, taking me to an unwanted place.

Being a recent quadplegic, discovering this app made my life easier in so many ways. Despite the odd glitches and crashes every now and then, would still give it 5 stars. Only thing I miss is having a 'spell' command to spell out any word or phrase that it wouldn't recognise. Additionally, having the option to display a numbered grid on full screen to subsequently click on any click-able surface that the app doesn't recognise, would make it a complete package.

Found this accidentally - it turns out this app is great, lets you control nearly everything on your phone just by voice commands. I found it very helpful as you can swap between apps, you don't need to type text, it supports different languages as well. It will need some tweaking with taking screenshots and photos - it doesn't work on my device but may work on others. You can scroll down, have basic control like Volume up and down, restart the device and much more. Yes, it does consume your battery,but the features it includes are really powerful.

Does not work as described. Does not help access app buttons or anything else normally does not hear me or understand me she does hear me he whatever. But tells me all the time I Don't understand. Then I have to tell stop listening. Not optimum performance.

Never correctly understands what I'm saying, especially when you say "back" it always says "next" the words aren't even close to being the same. It's just honestly terrible. It needs a major update please I rely on this app to help me

I've only been in the app once, so i can't give a full report. BUT... is the Voice Access app REQUIRED for Google Assistants voice command to function properly?? every time I uninstalled this app, my "Hey Google" stopped working every time.. It's the only reason I have the Voice Access app installed. can someone please tell me what's the truths?

conceptually this app is wonderful. but it has more bugs than I can fit in this review box, and while its a game changer when it works, it rarely does. its depressing to see this is the only app of its kind on android. apparently all that google funding can’t even get you basic functionality that consistently works

Well the experience is good an all. But it would be alot better if we could stack the commads and make the grid square a bit smaller and add more square in it. because the numbers does not reach certain areas on the screen.

Hi there. The idea behind this app is amazing, and it is nearly perfectly doing what it's supposed to. But we are in 2023, so I was expecting better : Why does the white top panel hide everything under it? Maybe add transparency to it? Why no copy and paste? Why no unzooming and zooming gestures for any apps (like Maps or Waze) without going into magnification mode? Why no option for long pressing? Will give you 5 stars when this is updated. Amazing app for drivers.

50/50 when it's working it's great but it needs major improvements!! Unless it's my pixel 5 thru AT&T IDK it needs to be way more responsive!! Better interacting with all apps as well and even speech-text really gets me upset 😡🤬😡🤬 when I need it to work is when I'm using handsfree options so I can keep my eyes and hand's what I'm doing while driving so I can pay attention more driving without me having to pull over and turn on my hazard's Lol

I've been trying to turn off the annoying voice that tells me things about what I have searched for, immediately after the search has completed - I still want to be able to use voice commands, but I dont need Google to talk afterwards, like I'm a child, who doesn't know how to use the web*!!! Fed up of trying - I have a Google Pixel 7 Grrrrrrr '

Voice access app is a very nice app in the extent that you can use it in different ways but this one problem You cannot switch data with it Also you can Awake the phone by voice Try to modify that in the voice could be recognized and only that voice can access the phone That's all other things are fine Have a very nice app indeed Congrats just Imagine you can use it to offline Also make it to be able to detect different language

It takes a bit to get used to it but then it's useful. The floating button can be quite annoying but an inconvenience I put up with for the sake of driving safely. Recently the recorded text doesn't transfer into the relevant messaging app, which is frustrating. It would be great to see that fixed

Overall, excellent functionality. Major flaw not having a voice recognition setting. It is very frustrating to have this assistant constantly trying to respond to everyone around me. Please add an option where the app learns and responds only to the user

Tried to set up Voice Access and immediately it started to download a language update that is needed. Problem is while it does say it's "downloading", it's not doing so. Yet every time I reach for my phone I get a.pop-up telling me it is "Downloading". It's been downloading for days now... Yet I cannot get rid of the pop-up! And I cannot finish set-up until the download is done.

Doesn't work that well with my phone's pre-installed accessibility app. It actually stops it from working. I need an app that does what it's supposed to and doesn't interfere with anything else. Damn, it was a VERY stressful experience to get it sorted!
