Worst experience ever for anything. Do not switch to Google Fi. Terrible app, even worse phone company. I ordered a phone (Galaxy z flip 5) and got setup with Fi. I noticed I had no service anywhere. I would have one, maybe two bars anywhere I went. Chatted with support maybe 10 times, each time doing the same troubleshooting steps over and over again. Finally, it gets sent to the engineers.then I don't hear anything for weeks. Finally case is closed with no resolution and no help. Terrible...

It's unfortunate to see Google Fi fall down so hard lately. I've been a customer since they went by Project Fi. Service was always amazing. However, between major outages, lack of redundancy despite their claims, and horrible support (it used to be amazing, which makes this so hard), I'm making the switch away from them. The app itself is great, but the overall Google Fi service is a flop. I hate to say it, but this is what they've become.

I'm a long time Fi customer and the app does a good job of tracking things like data usage and billing. But the 'Shop' functionality is really poor, because you can't add multiple items to your cart (e.g., a phone and a case) or initiate trade-ins. I've talked to 7 support agents in the last 90 minutes and the only solution is to return my device and place a new order on web with a trade-in. Which is such a waste of resources! Don't purchase your device on the Fi app.

So far I've had nothing but problems. I spent almost 2hrs with a tech trying to get my voicemail fixed and ended up breaking voice calls too. I was told a specialist would contact me to fix these issues. This was the 7th. I'm still waiting and thinking about switching back to my original service. Yes the data speeds have been faster but that does nothing for me if I can't make and receive calls. And unfortunately I can't rely on voicemail transcription because it too does not work. Disappointing. Update: Going on 4 days now with no service and very little help.

Had Fi since 2016 and it was fantastic up until this year. Data speeds/connectivity are incredibly unreliable. I'll be in the middle of town standing in a parking lot so there's not even interference from getting inside a building and it'll have no signal. Never had this issue before this year and it's gotten worse since about February. Worked with support multiple times but nothing's seemed to work consistently. Switching to another provider

This service sounds good, especially for a single person plan. It is TERRIBLE. The coverage is bad. Calls drop and dip all the time, even when VOIP on high speed wifi. It's not compatible with most phones. The "Device Protection" is a TOTAL SCAM. All the customer support is templated responses and they do not help with anything. They send responses that are confusing and off-topic and when you ask specific questions like "How do I do this?" , all you get back is more nonsense. It painfully is obvious that Google tried to get into the cell business and failed. Save yourself time and a lot of frustration and choose a different service.

I hate Google Fi app & network, the worst! I've had it for over 2 years now, only because it is inexpensive, but never had any good phone service. Calls get interrupted and drop constantly. I haven't had a successful phone call (no drops, no dead air, no interruptions) in the last year! So fed up with it, but don't have time to look into switching. Complete garbage and customer support is non-existent. Join any other network than Google Fi!!!.. You've been warned.

The app is absolutely beautiful and a pleasure to us. Wish every cellphone company had such an app. However, the service is not that good. Like someone mentioned, one of the reasons to get the fi service is their reasonable international pricing, but It does not work that well once you travel. I constantly struggled finding good network and it seemed that most of the networks internationally were blocked and you only have access to one which was known to be a budget one.

I've had project fi for over a year and it has steadily gone downhill in terms of quality of service. This is classic Google form to take a really good product and make it crappy. Call connections are extremely slow and can often take 15 or 20 can take a very long time. Browsing has become extremely slow and using Speech-to-Text drops after three words and often times takes two or three attempts to connect to the server.

Just don't. The customer service has no interest in helping with problems. The last update has made it to where there's no service when your phone connects to wifi. You can't send or receive texts or calls. There's an option to do wifi calling but that doesn't fix the texts when you turn it on. But that's the solution. And to get to that you have to provide screen shots and time stamps of everything. If you don't they won't help you. If you do they'll still disconnect you.

Service is terrible, lose data connection WHILE I'm listening to music, connection will not restore unless I unlock my phone and wait like 30 seconds. I get missed calls all the time with my phone sitting right next to me, it doesn't ring. The whole switching between networks is executed very poorly. It's not a smooth transition at all and I end up with no signal at all until it finally decides to find a tower. I wish it was better, I want it to be great but it's just not. Been almost 2 years.

It's a great service plan. I enjoy it more than my last one. However, there's some communication errors regarding billing. When I set up auto pay, they did my bill in 2 separate categories instead of 1 full category, thus not paying my full bill and shutting down my plan. I do not appreciate having to be stuck in the snow and not have service due to an error on googles end. If you all could fix that error, that would be great.

For the most part the service is great. Here are my cons: 1. service is spotty in places it should not be, extremely high traffic areas do not have adequate coverage, if any at all. 2. the service prioritizes using your cellular data for EVERYTHING, even when you are connected to a WiFi network. Unless, you explicitly turn off cellular data while connected to a WiFi network, it will prioritize sending data over the cellular network, instead of the WiFi network.
Zack
Loved it at first, been a customer for 2 years. It has really gone downhill as far as coverage. Seems when I started I'd have connection on road trips in places no one else in the vehicle did, but now I have 1 bar at my home in a city with zilch on road trips. It's very expensive compared to many options out there now, with pretty bad service, just not worth it anymore. The app is great, very efficient, and useful.

I cannot recommend Google Fi. Calls and data are both terrible. More often than not, if I'm calling someone, the call will drop before it even begins to ring. The data is so slow, most apps are unusable or will show that I'm not connected. I live in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex, and when I had AT&T, I never had any issues with calling or data speeds. The only saving grace of Google Fi is its billing system - pay for what use. And as my data speeds are so slow, I'm hardly ever able to use it.

Fi service is spotty and unreliable. Sometimes, we can stream movies in the middle of nowhere. Much more often, we can't send texts in the middle of cities. It's completely unpredictable and absolutely infuriating. The app is also pretty bad. No visual voicemail and the autotranscribe has never once worked. 2 stars because the price is, at least, as promised. No inexplicable charges (unlike Sprint).

Had Google Fi in the past (when it was Project Fi) and it was excellent. I've been trying to set up service again with the same phone and keep running into an error. [snip due to length] edit: Giving up on switching back to Fi. It's unfortunate that the support team aren't given the tools they need to help the customers. It seems like they all want to help, but instead have to escalate to "specialists" that never respond.
Kevin
I've been using googleFi for a few years now. Got it when I was traveling a lot and didn't want to mess with carriers. I learned later on that the network switching was locked down to designed for Fi phones. Annoying but no big deal, I wanted a new phone anyway so a year later I bought a Samsung phone that was supposed to be designed for it. That turned out to be false, automatic network switching still doesn't work and I lost access to the visual voicemail. What happened to do no evil?
