Description of RAR

RARLAB's RAR is an all-in-one, original, free, simple, easy and quick compression program, archiver, backup tool, extractor and even a basic file manager.

RAR can create RAR and ZIP and unpack RAR, ZIP, TAR, GZ, BZ2, XZ, 7z, ISO, ARJ archives. List of functions include repair command for damaged ZIP and RAR files, benchmark function compatible with RARLAB's WinRAR benchmark, recovery record, usual and recovery volumes, encryption, solid archives, utilizing multiple CPU cores to compress data.

Additionally to standard ZIP files, unzip function supports ZIP and ZIPX with BZIP2, LZMA, PPMd and XZ compression also as password protected ZIP. Unrar command is available for all versions of RAR archives including the latest RAR5, password protected and multipart files.

File management functions include copying, deleting, moving and renaming files and folders, creating new folders and installing applications from APK packages.

This is a pretty good archive app. It has quick and professional email support. The paid version is very reasonably priced. I highly recommend it.

No percent process in Big Split files.. Rar.part01.rar 128mb loading animation process 0%—100% Rar.part02.rar 256mb no loading process, just stuck 100% on part01, but you will just have to wait... RAR will ask for rar.part03.rar 384mb **inshort it is processing but it's just there is no loading animation percent process. ±_________________Rar.part01.rar 128mb Rar.part02.rar 256mb Rar.part03.rar 384mb____________________________±

I installed this app a decade ago when it first became available and I have never needed to use anything else for file management or file compression/archiving. Can be used for free but worth the $.99/year to support the developers.

Had a sub for some time. For the first time tried to create a file of photos. Failed. The help information is incomprehensible. Nothing like as good as the PC version.

Can create password protected files. Unfortunately it cannot create 7z files, which are capable of hiding even the zipped filenames when password-protected. This would be a major differential if implemented. I still miss a better UI for quickly setting and accessing favorite places. Overall, this is a good App, which can be improved. And, NO, it is indeed not able to hide filenames.

Causes too much data corruption with larger archives. Either I get unexpected end of archive, or I get hash mismatch. Terrible product.

Extracting individual files from solid archives created by RAR versions older than 2.0, could fail in RAR 6.20 and 6.21. It didn't affect extracting the entire archive, which was performed correctly. Fixed now.

1. Folder modification timestamps are also restored when unpacking TAR and TAR based archives like tar.gz and tar.bz2. Previously only file timestamps were restored for these archive formats. Timestamps are restored only if Android version is a new enough to allow an application to set them.2. File overwrite mode saved in extraction dialog with "Save settings" button is also applied in extraction commands invoked from context menu.
