I always have to go through the process of giving the app access in order to scan. It is easily turned off after I give the permission or after a scan. And I have to scan 3 or 4 times in a row to achieve desired results. My conclusion is that ( all! ) of you so called mobile security companies, even with upgrading, just go through the motions. It is like the ( old! ) Walmart. If you were of low income, you needed them in order to survive. Trash now! Better than nothing!

I turned on the real time scan a few weeks ago but later decided to turn it off. But it still showed in my notification bar as active no matter how many times I turned it on and off, restarted my phone, etc. My battery has also been draining extremely fast and I was trying to troubleshoot it in other ways, but reading these recent reviews I now realize that it's because of this app and the real time scan feature that won't turn off. I'm deleting and never reinstalling again.

Frustrating. Constantly finding that this has disconnected on its own, so what's the point of paying $12.95/month to be unprotected? Also, totally unable to set up Safe Browsing because the VPN section is greyed out and won't allow me to do anything at all. So, I'm paying for a basic WiFi scan and a notification that my email is in some shady databases. Wow. I'm going to cancel this before the end of the month, there's really no point.

This app is constantly underperforming across eveey platform. Phone, computer, anywhere - they've managed to make using it the most obnoxiously difficult to navigate convoluted layout possible. Want to add a new device? Good luck figuring it out. Have the full version? Why not have an incessant 'upgrade' icon for the rest of eternity. Absolutely terrible.

I purchased the device security and virus protection multiple devices programs, I have believed that the app was synced with the software, it was making my phone very fast originally. At renewal time I used some discount offer so I wouldn't pay for the full $129 software. Apparently they give you a substandard version if you don't pay the full price. I think that I will not renew my subscription again. Have to find better software deal.

Update: waste of money. Have to delete because it is killing my battery. Having to charge 2x day from 100% to zero. I have no idea if the app is good or not. No issues with security. However, as it scans every app out notifies me. Constant notification ringing from 11pm to early hours. Can't find a way to shut their notifications off so I have to mute entire phone. Fix it or next year I go with Norton.

This app has gotten much worse after the most recent update. The VPN no longer works, and whats worse, it will notify you constantly that the VPN is on, but when you check the app, it will be off! VPN takes a very long time to turn on if at all. Way too much focus on a fancy user interface and education, not enough on implementation. Would not recommend for mobile devices until they can work out these bugs.

This 6.x "UPGRADE" is actually a major DOWNGRADE! Many 5.x features have been removed & the new interface is horrible. I paid for a year of McAfee Total Protection. This 6.x version is NOT what I paid for. It's like buying a fully loaded car & when you take it in for service, they strip out most of the features you paid for. I should be given the option to keep all the features I paid for until my subscription ends or given a refund. If this is not remedied, I will not be renewing.

It worked well when I first got it, but the last couple of months it's getting frozen and malfunctioning. A few moments ago I had to, once again, delete and reinstall the app to get it to function properly. I like McAfee and do not experience the same problems on my PC. The issues are limited to the mobile app. Update: Followed the advice in their reply and so far so good.

Free version is great because it's easier to use than most other mobile security. Mostly in that you have more options to use with the features made available. Plus, how fast it works overall once you choose which function you want or need to use. I would give it 5 stars except that my upgrades beyond the free version I purchsed for both of my phones are not working as they should. I definitely look forward to call blocking being restored to use as well, that was a major benefit to me.

Cannot get most of this app working. I upgraded, and none of the upgrades work at all. I click on them, and it goes to a screen to upgrade. Cannot get connected with VPN, etc. I went to that link, tried to do it, but the ONLY options for a paid app was around $30 to $40. I was trying to get the monthly subscription for $9.99. It does not give me that option. I tried cancelling the subscription here, and it won't cancel the free week. Ugh.

I bought this as a two year subscription in February. In Early May, the VPN would not stay on. Only 'Safe Reconnect' mode worked. Here we are 4 months later, and it stopped! They want to give me a 'free trial' for another download, when the first download, which I paid for, malfunctioned less than two months later. I reinstalled it, and it has everything working. If they try to charge me after I have paid already, they can have it. Sorry to vent.

Junk app. I WANT A REFUND ASAP. Doesn't work half the time, and now it won't open. I keep getting useless notifications even though I managed the notifications. Today I've been getting a notification saying that the scan is in progress. It's been showing for over 3 hours now, and it doesn't seem to be scanning anything. Can't get rid of the notification either. Pathetic app. I don't trust these people at all

Lost ability to track my other devices on my account. You have grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory. My wife/me track each other's phones when we travel (even in other countries). This is a security issue and worked well under the prior releases. I'm sure others use the same feature for the same reason or even to track those who have other health issues such as a disability or memory problem. I should not have to pay for another app that had the same feature as this one had previously.

The latest update has completely ruined this app. They used to have the vpn as a separate app you could add or not add as you chose. I worked with them for a long time trying to get the vpn to work, but they could never fix it. They knew it was a problem, where it blocks all data service, yet they bundled it in to the primary app now. And guess what? Now the anti-virus blocks all regular data transmission too! I had to remove the app to be able to use my phone again. I am a paying subscriber...

App was very good while I had it. After canceling, however, I have had some serious problems. Could be coincidence or could be app/company issue. Immediately after canceling most apps would crash upon opening. I had to spend 2 full days trying to fix this. Also, I immediately started getting an excessive amount of telemarketer calls. All from CA, where they are based, and all having the same recording. I am on the do not call list. Coincidence, perhaps. Sounds fishy to me.

It's obvious majority of customers want ability to clear cache, manually scan, etc., not have education constantly forced on you even though you went through it all when setting up the app. Since renewing to this latest version, I can't access one of my banking apps. Extremely annoyed, and not happy about price going up. I and my family have used McAfee since mid 90's. I've always been happy with the product and have recommended to family and friends. No longer!

Please redesign the home screen. Even after agreeing to the suggested upgrades, the suggestions stay on the screen. How about just having virus scan, and options to free up memory on the home screen. I absolutely hate the the application the way it is now and won't be renewing. It's definitely time to find an easier to use application.
