Description of DuckDuckGo Private Browser

The DuckDuckGo app provides the most comprehensive online privacy protection with the push of a button. With one free download, you get an everyday private Internet browser that offers seamless protection while you search and browse, and access to tracking protection for emails you receive and apps you use. Many of these protections are not offered in most popular web browsers by default.

Have to reinstall too much. Slower than Firefox. Too many search suggestions as you're typing your search, you can't turn that feature off anymore, and it's very distracting. Downloading/installing is way slow from your server. Everything else from Google play store flies onto my phone, but your download drags on for minutes.
Mr. Multiverse
A much better option if you're a fan of privacy. Pretty much always on incognito mode and you're able to clear all data with the touch of a button. Saving is added in case you did not want to clear certain website or passwords which is convenient. The more I use it the more I like it and it might go from four star to five after I test drive it a bit longer. It's definitely worth looking into though, worst that can happen is you don't like it and you uninstall. But as I said it's worth the time

It's one of the best privacy based browsers out there but there are a few things that could use some polishing. The open in app functions can be a little wonky and will pop up and take you back to a previous page that has no relevance to what you just clicked on for instance. Also the UI could be a little better but that's more of a preference thing. 3.5/5.0

The app tracking block is phenomenal! Install it and turn on app tracking block and come back in a day or two. You will see thousands of tracking attempts blocked per app, a real eye opener. However it really should incorporate a real vpn. I also wish it would explain *exactly* why a block is turned off by default for an app due to a known issue. It may be I can live with the issue and would be ok with it turned on. As it is I have to trial and error to see if I can identify the issue myself.

I do enjoy the search engine, but it seems a little buggy. It will stop in the middle of opening quite a few links. Hopefully the speed and quality of this search engine will get better. It is still my go to. Update: Aug 2023- The app is doing better. I have noticed less issues with opening links. They now have a pop up to let you know you are leaving the app to open the link. I like that feature.

I like this one mainly bcz it lets you highlight a word anywhere on your phone and run an internet search - super useful. It's also a decent browser, easy to use, and lets you know when ppl are trying to track you. Usually, it can also automatically stuff tracking cookies and similar junk into a place the sender probably didn't intend it to go, which is handy AND cathartic. Eat it, trackers!

It seems like a nice browser. I like their goal for privacy. I just wish they were a bit more focused on "Quality of Life" features. For example, when you long-press a picture, you simply get the option to "Open in background tab" or "Download". But you have no option to rename the file. I also have NO idea where it put it. Most browsers download *ALL* to the DOWNLOAD folder, not DuckDuckGo. Why?

So much to like about this app! I'd give it 9 out of 10 stars if that were possible - have made it my default browser in all of my devices. I like the privacy features and the tracking blocker so much! The ONE thing that is bothersome is the lack of the talk-to-text feature that is very important to me - especially when traveling or in a brightly lit place (outside in the sun!) where I can't see my screen.

I love using this app. You would think that an app like this would be a bit finicky like others that strive to accomplish the same thing. But it has a very easy to use UI (User Interface) that even your nan can comprehend. If I were to make only one complaint it would be that I wish the browser had actual tabs that you can just hop between right at the top or bottom of the current tab you're viewing. Having big hands makes tapping the tiny square and then a tabbed window a bit of a chore.

Love that I am not getting all the pop-ups and other advertisements. Some sites I've gone to before using DuckDuckGo I couldn't even place an order without some ad popping up and blocking the site content! (Good way to lose business!). Using DuckDuckGo...I have not had that problem. My battery seems to be lasting longer also, now that all the trackers are being stopped.

I love it !!! I've been using it for about a week now and it's so nice to be able to see the screen without all the pop up adds that take over the screen with google. Also the things I look up and then mysteriously show up on Amazon, NOT ANYMORE... ha ha ha google I'm finally FREE. There's been a couple hiccups but I'm sure there will be with anything new. But if you're hesitant ? Don't be afraid you'll love it, its free, and it works, no one behind you spying on what you're searching.

I've been very satisfied with this app for a few years, but lately it crashes whenever I hold down my finger as if to highlight text to copy and paste. This happens regardless of if there is anything to actually highlight, so if I hold my finger down too long while scrolling it also crashes. This is making the app increasingly hard to use

I changed my mind this browser isn't safe. No proof it's safe! You can't manage or block cookies, no way to stop pop up adds. They run in the background, and you can't block them or the add domains. There' a huge lack of privacy options! When you have these problems, it shows it's not safe. Just because they say all protections are running in the background doesn't mean its true. Respect is to make all these privacy options available otherwise its not worth downloading. No reason to trust it.

I have recently installed the app. My wife has been using it for a long time. I have a habit of searching around areas were I probably shouldn't. I had been getting pop up ads every time I was on line, now that I have switched, I am getting fewer and fewer. Try reading an article on something, and have some unwanted ads pop drives me crazy. The exciting part is watching the flash of the flames 🔥 eating up your searching.

Update: they lose 2 stars because they don't allow voice search on Android phones. I don't have time or desire to type search strings with my thumbs! Also, on PC, I often want to proceed to a file or hostname destination, but it ALWAYS does a search instead of opening the destination -Really frustrating. I still use it for any search I don't want Google to track. Clean, fast, browser app that puts customers first!

Perfect. For years now. How do they do it? Added 7/1/2023: Priceless to know my stuff isn't out there for the creeps to paw through. Peace of mind at no cost in terms of important features missing. Now I'm using the Windows Duck browser, too. 9/1/23: minus 1 star. Latest 'about' statement lapses into technobabble when addressing the Microsoft/Bing partnership. Remove earlier fluff and level with us.

It doesn't actually stop anything from tracking you. It likes to show you "Look what I stopped", yet I have all of those settings enabled and everything. I bought a new pair of shoes from the retailer with this app and less than 10 minutes later, I got an ad from that company. At least using Google it takes a few days to get ads from things you've seen, looked up, or purchased

I rarely give 5 stars for a review but DuckDuckGo goes a great job of doing what it says and seems to be very transparent. If you take a minute, look closely at the bells and whistles in settings. You can answer a lot of your questions and be surprised by some functions that might not have been apparent if you're new to duck. I recommend checking it out and pushing some buttons. It's user friendly. You can't break it or your device. But their customer support is good at answering anyhow.
