A good place for finding info about all kind of routes and excursions. Very convenient for following a posted route with the pro option. (Used by a friend of mine. Considering to get it) On the cons, you run out of battery pretty fast. We would like to disable the by default recording option when a route is followed.

I could not really get this app to work. I could find trails, but as I understood it, I could not find my position on the trail without buying the premium version. I understand you have a revenue model, and I am happy to pay for a good app, but maybe it would be better to allow full functionality on the app for a few days. Because the free version was very unimpressive.

I love this App as it allows me to share trails I've done. What's best is they are picked up by Google and dropped into Google Earth, so anyone browsing an area can spot them, as long as they have the layers activated. Maps are also downloadable to be used offline. Great when you are out in the countryside with no phone service.

I've been finding it impossible to renew my Premium subscription. Unfortunately Wikiloc's support have been totally ignoring my requests for help. UPDATE: Issue was resolved after 10 days and four emails to Wikiloc. It is a good app but somewhat spoiled by slow customer support and a few usability issues. I will persevere and look forward to improvements.

Some really annoying bugs prevent this app from being useful. -Most of the time it doesn't find my location or doesn't remember the map from last time. It starts me out in the ocean , requiring incessant zooming and scrolling to get to my real location. -search results are almost not useable, gives me the wrong bubble each time. Needs fixing before I can recommend it. Also not a fan of almost every feature bring premium. Viewranger is better in almost every way, it just has less user tracks :(

Bad navigation design logic. The only way to do it is to record an existing route, which is a huge battery drain, at least 3 times more than Google Maps. Recording should be separate from navigation. Also it is 100% reliant on Google Maps to get you to the starting point but it makes sense only because of the aforementioned bad navigation design. Also the realtime map navigation is bad, map is too zoomed out and if you zoom in manually it no longer follows your location.

Nice app. 2 bugs developers should improve: 1) The "head-up" display mode needs to be stabilized. The whole map is constantly shacking as you walk with the phone in your hands. "North-up" mode is even worse. 2) If you leave a track you are following (and recording) for whatever reason (to have a lock at a spot 30mt away in my case) it loses the recording modus and shows just your position on the map, but isn't tracking correctly anymore.

Lots of problems with this app. It always stays on keep recording, I have to do the force stop every time. The GPS doesn't work right, on the phone or tablet doesn't tell you where you are in the map, having one in paper will do the same work. Plus the trial are not verified, so everyone can put a 4x4 trial and you end up looking for something it doesn't exist....

I've been using this app since March, and initially it seemed great at first, but lately it won't record any routes. Says it's recording, but when looking at the stats, they all read zero. I've had this issue on two different phones, sometimes get a message at the top saying "low GPS". I have no idea why this should be. Used in different areas of the country, with clear view of the sky, so why a GPS fix can't be obtained I don't know. I have to say, it's brilliant when it does work.

I have the paid premium subscription and seriously, a paid GPS app that doesn't support landscape mode? I use this in my sxs and have to turn my tablet sideways to fit in the holder. App doesn't rotate to landscape so everything is sideways. The app is not user friendly or intuitive. If you want to just see the map and not follow a specific route, you have to start recording a trail just to see where you are on the map. Great idea and lots of good features but the app really needs some love.

If you like hiking and need suggestions for great routes at all levels of difficulty, this app and the community behind it have you covered. The app provides great real-time navigation, with excellent online and offline maps. Lt also doesn't appear to be too battery-hungry, so with a fully charged phone, you're generally good for a day's hike/cycle/whatever.

Free version is a pain to use. Paid version is kinda ok but not stable enough. I tried tracking two long hikes and both times it lost the GPS signal and stopped the log. I use other tracking and navigation apps for different sports without issue. Even if the track goes their smoothing algorithm is useless and counts the little jumps as elevation gain. This is common issue, there are tons of saved routes which shows many times more elevation gain than in reality in their database. But it's cheap.
What's not to Hike
Good but could be better. I think the guide triangle is stupid, as it has three points so you never know which one is the one that you should follow. Also, offline maps only has one option of what kind of map, even for premium members, you should be able to choose any type of offline map, street, topographic etc, depending on your environment. Not sure if I'll renew once my subscription is over, depends on what improvements are made.

The idea is great, and I use the app regularly just to see where other people have gone and where the accessible paths are. The app does have some annoyances and bugs, but there is active support. I have problems planning routes, the map keeps placing blank tiles at random positions. This is being investigated. Filters should be storable. Following a trail has great ideas, like giving a sound when you go off track, which could be improved with settable sounds.
