Description of SBB Mobile

SBB Mobile: your personal travel companion for public transport.

Want to know ahead of time if your train will arrive on time? Want to have quicker access to your ticket during ticket inspection? Want to be able to find your way better at the station and have reliable map information? We have good news for you! SBB Mobile can do it all. And much more.

The heart of the app is the new navigation bar with the following menu points and content.

Plan
• Plan your journey with a simple timetable search via the touch timetable or use your current position as the origin or destination, locating it on the map.
• Buy your ticket for the whole of Switzerland in just two clicks. Your travelcards on the SwissPass are applied.
• Travel particularly affordably with supersaver tickets or Saver Day Passes.

Trips
• Save your trip and we will provide you with all the information you need during your journey under ‘Single Trips’: everything from departure and arrival times, platform information and service disruptions to train formations and walking routes.
• Set up your personal commuter route under ‘Commuting’ and receive push notifications about rail service disruptions.
• The app accompanies you from door to door as you travel and you will receive information about delays, disruption and interchange times via push notification.

EasyRide
• Check in, hop on and head off – across the entire GA Travelcard network.
• EasyRide calculates the right ticket for your journey on the basis of the routes you travelled and charges you the relevant amount subsequently.

Tickets & Travelcards
• Show your public transport travelcards digitally with SwissPass Mobile.
• It also gives you an overview of your valid and expired tickets and travelcards on the SwissPass.

Shop & Services
• Buy regional transport tickets and Day Passes for the GA Travelcard area of validity quickly and easily without searching the timetable.
• In the ‘Services’ section, you can find lots of useful links about travel.

Profile
• Straightforward access to your personal settings and our customer support.

What permissions does SBB Mobile need and why?

Location
For connections from your current location, the GPS function must be activated so that SBB Mobile can find the nearest stop. This also applies if you want to have the nearest stop displayed in the timetable.

Calendar and e-mail
You can save connections in your own calendar and send them by e-mail (to friends, an external calendar). SBB Mobile requires read and write permissions to be able to import your desired connection into the calendar.

Access to the camera
SBB Mobile requires access to your camera to take pictures directly in the app for your personalised touch timetable.

Internet access
SBB Mobile requires internet access to search the timetable as well as for ticket purchases.

Memory
To support offline functions, e.g. station/stop list, connections (history) and purchased tickets, SBB Mobile requires access to your device’s memory (saving app-specific settings).

Be very careful using easy ride feature. Yesterday I've got fined because the feature is not reliable. I am very honest person and never taking public transport without the ticket. Easy ride just stopped itself after one hour and I couldn't prove, that I haven't did it myself. SBB you need to introduce more safety to this feature.

After the update I'm not able to keep my SwissPass in the app for longer than maybe 2 minutes. Whenever I want to access it, the app shows me that a "connection could not be established" (spoiler alert: I had a stable internet connection during all those times I tried) or a "Oops, something went wrong". This has been going on since the update and I have since uninstalled and reinstalled the app at least five times.

Overall good app, but the CFF collect and store too much data which concerns me. Sometimes just keeps the loading screen and I can't buy my tickets on the app, but apparently this was due to a punctual cyberattack.

After downloading it and when using easy ride for the first time. It crashes. Then it crashes after opening on every subsequent time. My current phone is a Google pixel though and it works on my older Samsung A30. Other than that, it's got great features especially easy ride - makes your travel experience seamless! Edit: Bug has been fixed Thank you 😊

Really frustrating user interface/UX. The developers for sure don't use it on a regular basis. For example the searches are reset and lost each time you reopen the app! Instead they app could just be checking if they are still valid. Also then you have to search in the past or memorize everything. To use SBB mobile you have to struggle with it a lot. In the end I use screenshots so I dont have to redo the searches every time I do a timetable search. This is an aberration.

Overall the application is great and very useful. But the last update focus on a superficial redesign that makes the app less efficient. The animation at the bottom when moving between tabs is useless and slows down the transition to the new tab. The general layout feels overcrowded despite the fact that it doesn't seem to bring new information. I would prefer if SBB could focus on usability rather than on superficiality.

The app sometimes doesn't use the correct "current location". When one opens the map, the actual current location is shown to be completely different that the one listed as "my location". Worse still, there is no way to refresh it in the standard timetable interface, even though the correct one is shown in other map interfaces within the app, and it will always show the wrong location until the app is killed, or even after that.

EasyRide doesnt work. It keeps buffering when I try to end my journey and I can't start a new one. This takes several hours, even with good internet connection!! In the old version of the app, easyride couldn't find my destination when I kept walking after getting off the bus. I won't wait and stand there for the app to search my location for several hours. Other features are good and work well.

The new design really feels like it favors form over function. It definitely looks better than the old one, but I find myself needing more clicks to do anything compared to the old app. It also seems like some features were even somewhat removed. I used to have my exact trips planned on a weekly basis, and they've now replaced that with a weird commuting function that doesn't quite fit the task. I was somewhat looking forward to the redesign, but I am kind of disappointed.

You are sharing my datas without caring my satisfaction! This is why, I left your Super SwissPass in your Luzern HB sbb desk. That's it. If you want to grow and would like to have more satisfied customers you need to reach and learn something from me that you are not caring about which are basic level of my expectation and I am stopping to use public transportation.

Downtime of the service is too high this year. So don't rely on this app. It just doesn't work at the most important moment.

Terrible app . Yes, its easy to buy tickets, but even when logged in, you can double buy tickets and it doesn't warn you. Its a money scam the way they've set up the ticket buying process.

Forget it if you are not Swiss. Neither Visa nor my passport are working as payment/identification options. This makes the app simply not usable. Update (response): I agree that the app should work in theory. It does, however, not in practise.

The app doesnt work on multiple devices. I no longer use my iphone and am operating on an android. Changing billing information on android didnt work, but it did for the iphone. At 23:00 at night, the people who check the tickets should allow the passenger to pay on board the train given the fact that I was honest that the app wasnt working, showed it, and there was no chance of buying it before getting on the train because the app wasnt working and should instead be given that flexibility.

I don't like the new layout. You didn't change the design, just made it smaller... Also I'd love the possibility to change a recommended journey. I regularly travel from Jona to Luzern and when I have to change in Zurich, I don't need 20mins to change. I understand that for most people that's better than 5mins to change but that's why I'd like to change it once or even be able to set my change duration for a train station. Currently I have to keep it in my head and not the sbb app

They're trying to force you to login and share personal details. App can easily be used anonymously. To that end,extremely extremely annoying that they removed from easy access (ie can't find it) the feature to add demi-tarif settings when calculating ticket prices.

used to be stable but as of lately the app is horrible and unusable for me since update to version 12.14.0 (46). can't login anymore with swisspass. error code VXA-7034, even after I wiped the app cache and data, un-installed and reinstalled several times. And mobile connection is alright. Please fix your app!
