How do I log in with the DigiD app?
Logging in with the DigiD app can be done in two ways:

1. On your phone or tablet you log in with just a pin code.
2. Or log in on a computer using the app. You take over a verification code, scan a QR code and then enter your pin code.

DATA PROCESSING & PRIVACY

The DigiD app processes the IP address, the name and version of the operating system of your smartphone or tablet, the unique identifier of the mobile device, your mobile phone number and the 5-digit PIN code you select. When performing the ID check, DigiD processes the document number / driver's license number, date of birth and validity.

By downloading and using the DigiD app you agree to this processing, which is also subject to the following provisions.

1. The user's personal data will be processed in accordance with applicable privacy legislation. In the privacy statement you will find who is responsible for the processing of personal data for DigiD, which personal data of the DigiD user is processed and for what purpose. The processing of personal data by DigiD and rules on the operation, security and reliability of DigiD are included in legislation and regulations. The privacy statement and legislation and regulations can be found at www.digid.nl.
2. Logius has taken appropriate technical and organizational security measures against loss or unlawful processing of the user's personal data.
3. The DigiD app complies with security measures that are comparable to the security measures of DigiD. DigiD also uses the security mechanisms of the operating system.
4. The user is responsible for the security of his mobile device.
5. For the DigiD app, updates can be automatically downloaded and installed every now and then via the app store. These updates are intended to improve, expand or further develop the DigiD app and may consist of solutions for program errors, advanced functions, new software modules or completely new versions. Without these updates the DigiD app will possibly not function or not function properly.
6. Logius reserves the right to (temporarily) stop offering the DigiD app in the app store or to (temporarily) stop the operation of the DigiD app without stating reasons.

The app works okay. After a successful login it makes a callback to the browser app, regardless of which app the request is made from. For example, if you used the Google search bar and logged onto a page through DigiID in that app, this app gives you authorization, but calls back the default browsing app, which you don't have the webpage that you were willing to log onto.

I have trouble with the QR-code scanner. It barely works on my Huawei P30 Pro and there is no alternative in the app to solve this problem. I've tried several distances, set my laptop screen on maximum brightness and I even dimmed the surrounding light, but it didn't make a difference: it just doesn't scan. Also, on my phone screen the QR-code looks warped and sometimes slightly distorted. With my ages old Samsung I have less trouble using this app, but I can't keep using my old phone.

A dumpster fire (see the automated reply to this review for confirmation - they don't even bother to check the language) . Constant error message telling me that there's a new app update available, even though there isn't (I checked on the play store). Clicking the link in the pop-up takes me to a Play Store page that says "item not found" (so, not even this page).

Pretty clunky app, could definitely be streamlined and improved a lot. QR code scanner works terribly, constantly missing focus, never had this issue with any other QR scanner before. Also, on the web interface where you scan the QR code there are 2 fake QR codes and my phone has accidentally scanned the wrong one before so I have to hide the fake ones with my hand now (who the hell designed it like that!?). I would really hope to see fingerprint auth added instead of the 5 digit code so that way as soon as you open the app you are authorised. English option would also be a nice to have.

Terrible app. It feels more and more forced onto Dutch people. You MUST use this app to be able to log into your health enssurance or request something at the CBR. Yet I can't log into the app because each time it crashes when I try to scan my ID card with NFC. And then I got to wait several minutes to try again... I tried 10+ times. Still won't work. I tried scanning with nfc on other apps. Works fine. So it's not my phone or the ID card. It's the app that's broken.

Completely useless. QR reader distorts the camera so it can't read any QR codes. Other apps on my phone that use QR readers don't have this issue. This is an official government app, how can you not get the basics right? This has failed on two different phones for me on different Android versions, so it's not a problem on my end. Please fix this!!

It is amazing how bad this app is..First of all,it seems that it's pointless to have this app in the first place.The login with 1.password is replaced by logging in with the 1.code then scanning 2.QR code and then using your 3.passcode,so you have two more extra steps.And of course, no fingerprint option,etc..Second of all,so I wanted to login from my tablet,it looked like the website would open the app and maybe there would be less(!) steps,I was intrigued! But the app doesn't work on 2 devices

It generally works fine and is very useful in the Netherlands, but it's absolutely terrible if you ever need to use it while travelling abroad (nothing works, you can't get required updates, etc). Please change the configurations to allow for this to work abroad too!

App keeps rejecting my pincode and forces me to reactivate my DigiD or even apply for a new DigiD

Keeps crashing since the latest update on 28.06.2022. In addition to this App Berichtenbox won't start either, because it needs DigiD to be able to login. Update: Thanks for the help. In the App Settings I deleted the cache and the app data. Basically it did a reset and reinitialized the settings. Working again now.

Works very well. "Koppelcode" is only needed when using the device to do two factor on another governmental website; if browsing on the same device, the app integrates seamlessly. No problems with QR scanning (theme on the PC?). My only issue is a (known) bug that it's impossible to change the email address when logged in via the app, which makes me VERY reluctant to set "always use the app", defying a bit the real two factor security.

Unfortunately, after the update, I'm not being able to login in Google Chrome in my laptop anymore with the help of the app. I add the code and scan de QR code, but after that, the screen doesn't reload to login as it did before. I'm just able to login using it in Firefox or in my mobile phone.

I'm not being able to change my mobile number through the app. When I click to change phone number, nothing happens. What should I do?

I have activated an app last year in November and yet I have been unable to use it for the whole year. For some reason it thinks I own two identical phones and states so on the website. After trying to reset my phone data I've even lost my pin. I am shocked that a "developed" country's government app can be so inaccessible.

Annoying! I needed to log in to Belastingdienst, the app suggested an update and I updated it. It started rejecting my pin code which was correct, I am 100% sure. Then it told me to reactivate but it keeps on giving error. So I cannot reactivate the app. And the call center doesn't respond, the line is cut after a 10 second announcement. How am I supposed to get help?

The NFC Reader in the app is a nightmare! I live abroad 14+ years. When I opened the app, it demanded an update. After the update, it had to be reactivated again. Part of the reactivation is an NFC scan of my passport. However, NFC reading keeps failing; I tried > 50 times, no success. Another way to activate is via SMS, but that requires a Dutch mobile number (don't have). To add a number to my record, requires a Dutch address (don't have). So I'm in a deadlock because of poor programming 😡
