Description of Should I Answer?

Get rid of the unsolicited calls once forever. Safely and absolutely free.

Telemarketers, phone scams or „just“ unsolicited surveys? The Should I Answer app can get you rid of all such calls.



How does the app work?


Whenever some unknown number calls the app checks it in its permanently updated database - immediately, without internet connection. If it finds out that other users reported the respective number as nuisance, it warns you against it. Or if you want it so, it can block it directly, the caller will not be able to reach you.

It is just the database used by the Should I Answer app which is an absolute unique part. It is composed directly by the users of the app: after each unknown call the users can rate it anonymously either as safe or spam. After approval given by our admins the report is then visible in the database where all users can benefit from.



What the app can do?


• It can protect you effectively against the unsolicited calls. You can set the level of protection exactly according to your needs: from simple alert of unsolicited call to direct blocking.

• It can block even hidden, foreign or premium rate numbers. Also you can write your own lists of blocked or allowed numbers.

• The app can be used as fully functional dialer app: you will find all your Contacts, favourite Contacts and complete call history in it.

• The app can protect you even offline. If you need to update the local database it waits for your wi-fi connection.

• It’s simple, even your grandma can use it :-)




How does the app deal with your personal data?


Everything is happening directly in your phone, and in your phone only - your data is never by passed to some 3rd party. The app can’t „see“ even your own phone number, all reports are fully anonymous, the app doesn’t send even your Contacts anywhere.

There is a bug that appears to happen when I turn off my phone then later boot it; I get a notification saying I have a missed call from someone in my contact list only to find out that person never called me. The call does not appear in the call log when opening the app. Other than that this app, so far, does what it claims. EDIT: Also, hidden numbers are not truly blocked if the option to auto hang-up is chosen. The call goes to voicemail.

I installed the app and changed it to the primary filtering app. I had been using Verizon's call filtering. When I switched it to this app, marketing calls were blocked much more effectively. My phone wasn't ringing near as often as it had. This app works. Please, mark the few calls that come through as unsolicited or telemarketing. It adds them to the database and silences them for others. The more people who use this, the more affective it gets. In my experience, it is better than Verizon.

This is a really FANTASTIC app. I like its features and I did make a donation to last year's version. The donation button for this year (2019) allows you to start a monthly subscription at one of 3 tier levels. You can easily cancel after a month or whenever you choose by taping the menu in the upper left and selecting "Community". The level of your current subscription will have an "Unsubscribe" option which you can tap to unsubscibe.

Love it, but I wish it would work without making it the default calling app, because the interface is ugly and it can't be customized. It has the ugliest screen showing when on a call. I wish it could use the theme I have installed. The colors I prefer are very muted and very feminine. The color Should I Answer uses is bright blue. I'll probably switch back to using my phone's calling app after the election... that's how much I dislike the screen colors.

Blocking features are great. Uses a community database which other users can see when they receive a call from a particular caller. I never realized how useful this could be until I had it and used it. AWFUL: During a phone call, I cannot access phone features; unable to mute, control video, etc. Give me back control and I'll hand you a fifth star. :-) UPDATE: I made the recommended changes, and all is well. FIVE STARS!

Excellent for blocking calls. Recognizes telemarketer calls, robocalls, blocks automatically. Your phone does not ring at all, with these types of calls, as it does with some apps. No more checking to see who it is, no more disturbances, just one time, to Block other calls that the app does not have negative reviews, on. It's easy to use, I highly recommend it. I lost count of how many numbers I have blocked, still haven't reached the limit! Wonderful app that has made my life better!

Update: When I first tried this app, there were some blocking issues. Now all of my unwanted calls are sufficiently blocked and do not make it to my voicemail. If you try this, stick with it, the developers are helpful. Also make sure it stays updated or blocked calls will get through. Update: This app is still holding steady after 1 year. You have to make sure the data base is updated at least once a week for it to continue to screen calls according to your setting. I would recommend.

update- your suggested fix worked. thank you. original- Didn't work for me. set to block all calls except contact list. when saved contacts called, screen would show incoming call, but would not ring out loud. does no good if phone is in your pocket. must be able to hear ringer. if you know why it's not working, please let me know. like everything else about it. will give 5 stars if once this is fixed.

Decent, but could use an update. When I first installed the app, android would not "allow" it to be used as the default phone app. (I have Android 9) So, I had to change the phone app settings. After I did, it seems to work ok, but is not seamless in its operation. Could use some updating, and streamlining. All in all, its decent, and recognizes spam calls.

Blocks 97% of junk calls (actually, I think it really does block 100%, but that sounds like an exaggeration, so I'm going with 97%). I have it set to block calls from anyone not stored in my contacts - they end up in voicemail and can leave a message if they're legit. Easy to temporarily deactivate if I'm expecting a call from someone not in my contacts, like from a repair person on their way to the house, for example.

This app is amazing. I love the feature that makes it so you can automatically hang up on a blocked caller. also I love how when you deny it makes the operating noise on the caller as if it is out of business or no longer in service. awsome app hands down. You do not have to use their screen as a calling default app. You can simply switch it in the settings

Best app! Glad I downloaded this. It's blocked so many scam callers, without blocking calls I want to receive. The settings are easy to use and easy to adjust to your own special preferences. And no ads or purchase promos. Thanks for that!💙 I just have a question...why does my sychronize date remain the same? After each time I synchronize, it's still showing the date I downloaded the app instead of most recent date of synchronization...? Other than that, it seems to be working properly. 👍👍👍

It's working, I'm assuming, because the number of scam calls has practically disappeared. However, now I can't use my phone. I just tried tapping on my phone icon to make a call and got a screen that asked me to make the app my default in order to make calls, etc. I went thorough the steps, including restarting my phone. Now tapping the warning screen, to make the app the default, no longer disappears, I can only close it, so no longer have access to to my phone. I'll email support.

Just downloaded this version of the app so my review is actually based on the old version. It does exactly what it supposed to and gives you many options for the level of blocking that you desire. Sometimes it can be a little tricky when a business that I don't have all their numbers stored in my contacts tries to call; but I've been able to work around that pretty successfully. I'm always amazed and thrilled when I look at the call log at how many calls have tried to come through! Works!

Edit: This app has a bug that support can't/won't fix despite my contacting them multiple times. The phone rings, but the screen to answer the call does not always pop up. Can't answer the call! I've spent lots of time trying different "fixes" but none work. Uninstalling until the problem is fixed. LG G6. This app keeps my phone peaceful and quiet.... I have set it up so only contacts ring through. Wonderful!

It's doing its job of blocking all calls from numbers not from my contacts, but it creates some issues. For one, I want it to be the default for receiving calls, but I still want to make calls via my phone's original app and I don't see an option. Dialing using this app slows down my phone quite a bit and sometimes fails completely. I don't like the UI and that I can't search my contact comfortably.

Did what it says. Which is great. It stops a bunch of calls which would have gotten through otherwise. Unfortunately, it's eating up my battery and the "phone" functionality of the app is always getting lost when on a call and switching back and for to it, etc. Doesn't have many of the ease of use functions of the built-in Samsung phone app.

The best there is! This app blocks phone calls from anyone you don't want to hear from - they can't even leave a voice mail if that's what you want. You can reject the call, or have it disconnect if unwanted party calls, or have them hear busy signal. Lots of options! I've shopped around and this is- by far- the best out there! Highly recommend! Would give 6 stars if I could! Thanks developers! You're awesome!
