Pending Status for sent messages??? Not really sure what is up but for some annoying reason, messages for certain conversations on my end appear as though they are pending however the recipient/contact receives my texts. Wish I could include a screenshot in this review to show what I am referring to. The icon that is displayed indicating my messages are "pending" to be sent looks like an hour glass, basically; yellow color. Developer/team, please assist on this ... Tx

This app was great except for 2 things. I really didn't like the pop-up. Most texting apps will briefly show a preview of the incoming text and then disappear. Handcent's is huge and doesn't disappear until you dismiss it. It even opens its own app page. You can turn it off, but then there is no visual notification, just a sound. I know that sounds picky, but it bugged me enough I had to switch. Plus, it started showing me ads. I'd rather use the stock texting app than see ads all the time.

I love this app so much. I love how you can personalize groups and CHANGE THE NAME, which you can't do with many default Android messaging apps. I love the backgrounds, and how you can have different backgrounds for different chats. The ads aren't too bothersome, although I have had a couple ads take up the whole screen, which is a bit bothersome, otherwise this is a great messaging app.

I've used Handcent for several years. I like that you can customize everything from background, bubble style/color, font, font size, font colors, notifications, group text options, blacklist, etc. You can choose the color of the notification icon and light (may not work though). My only gripe is the themes aren't updated very often. You can change the background to whatever picture you find and create your own.

I've been using Handcent for all my texting needs for about 10 years. Over the years I've tried many apps, but I've always come back. This time it feels kinda different, this time I'm not just curious and trying out a new messenger. It's fallen behind with lack of support for RCS messaging, and although this app very customizable. Grainy pictures and videos are no longer acceptable. I hope they update, if so I'll be back to check it out, but until then it was good while it lasted.

I've been used Handcent since my first smartphone back in 2010. Besides some hiccups along the way. We're talking 3 or 4 since 2010. At least on the 6 phones I've had to date. A quick message to them and an instead fix is sent! I've been given a few tips on quick fixes. These normally fix most problems on their own! By far, one of the greatest apps available on Android! The customization is out of this world. Going through the settings gives one the sense of developing your own app!

The SMS part on the phone works just fine. Just about every SMS app does...so no big deal there. The value I was looking for was the ability to do SMS from my Android tablet. That's where everything fell apart badly. Once I overcame all the correct permissions settings (glossed over in their video and documentation), communication between the phone and the tablet was inconsistent at best, and non-existent the rest of the time. It was more of a headache than a help. Uninstalled.

Update: the MMS has become unreliable. I only get a few messages from my group texts. Not sure what has happened. I have tried to un-install and re-install.. Nothing. Not sure what to do at this point. This texting app has come a long way! I used to have Handcent years ago, and it had a lot of bugs. Decided to try it out again and pleasantly surprised! Still love this app..... However, after using it for about a year, I am unimpressed with the swipe key texting. The app keeps changing my words to irrelevant corrections. I am having to go back through every text and make sure there were no errors. This is frustrating. I am looking for a different app. I would still recommend this app to anyone who asked. But..people who swipe key text will be very disappointed that the apps learning function is so inferior.

I recently switched phones and set up the app the way I had it on my old phone and I noticed the contact pics are now circle instead of square which I don't like and the main issue is having this ad constantly pop up while I'm in the app. I keep clicking the x but it pops up again and again and it's really annoying. I've used this app for several years but the ad is really bothersome. No other issues for now. I might change my review if the ad can go away and I don't wanna pay for it either!

Clean, functional SMS app. I have used Handcent on 3 different phones over a few years and has functioned flawlessly. Lots of features, and they all actually work. It's the best app of its type out there. While not a detriment, the only thing I would like to see is a full-screen option for the pop-up. It's certainly of a readable size now, but full-screen woukd make it easier to see who texted when you're busy with the world outside the phone.

Great texting app. I paid for the opportunity to use more features and it's worth it. I have tried several apps for texting both free and paid. The interface is very simple and easy to use. I have a dual sim phone and it allows me to pick which sim to text from. SMS is easily converted. All the features works well with other programs and o love the preview features. Great SMS text messaging app, been using it for years, back-up/restore are easy to use. Continuing to get better with each update.

Great app. Highly customizable, lightweight, and extremely reliable. Group messaging works flawlessly. If I'm out of the service area it never failes to send the messages as soon as the network became available. I've been using it as my default messaging app on my Notes (8 and 9), and the Pixel, and it just keeps getting better and better. Works great for me.

My favorite texting app! I've been using this app for about 10 years & I love it! I love that I can customize everything for each contact like the notification icon, notification sound & vibration, led notification, background, & pretty much the entire look of each individual person's conversation. There have been a few bugs along the way but isn't that to be expected. The most recent issue I've had is being unable to send a a picture. Hopefully it will be resolved soon.

I have had this app for years! So many that I can't remember how long now, lol. I love the free skin options. The customization of my chat bubbles. I just love this app 💕If I could make a suggestion it would be nice to know when someone is replying. Have the little dots dancing like the standard app that came with the phone does. I've looked but haven't seen that option.

Overall, this is a decent app. Although, one thing that has me frustrated today: Twice now, i have typed out a long text, only to lose it before i hit send. The first time, i wanted to look up the definition of a word, and when i returned to my text, there was nothing there. The second time, i was proofing it before i hit send, and i accidentally opened my notifications...tried to return to my text - GONE! 😡

Favorite texting app, great support. I have to have delayed sending and search, but what really sets this app apart are personalizations and muting conversations. There are many options for icons and sounds to differentiate your contacts. Recently got a new phone and reinstalled the app. When I replied to a group chat, it would send my message twice but only to me. Support emailed the answer within a day or 2 over the weekend. Solved my issue on the first contact.

Handcart Next SMS Messenger has been my default texting app for 10yrs+. I prefer its functions over other text apps. Even when they had issues with Google Play Store, they were very prompt in keeping us updated with the work-around & final fix. This week I asked them how to change the default download path so I could save pictures to my phone. The new phone didn't have an SD card, so they were going into Neverland. The support team responded quickly with simple instructions that worked!
