Description of FairEmail, privacy aware email

FairEmail is easy to set up and works with virtually all email providers, including Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo!

FairEmail might be for you if you value your privacy.

FairEmail is simple to use, but if you are looking for a very simple email app, FairEmail might not be the right choice.

FairEmail is an email client only, so you need to bring your own email address. FairEmail is not a calendar/contact/task/note manager and cannot make you coffee.

FairEmail does not support non-standard protocols, like Microsoft Exchange Web Services and Microsoft ActiveSync.

Almost all features are free to use, but to maintain and support the app in the long term, not every feature can be for free. See below for a list of pro features.

I've been looking for a replacement for K-9 Mail for a while, and I finally found it in FairEmail. This is a well written and full featured app, with ample capability for customization to suit individual users' needs. As others have said, there can be a bit of a learning curve in navigating the various settings for those who wish to customize the app (though not everyone will need or want to do that), but it's worth the effort. In fact, one of my favorite features is the extensive FAQ that makes understanding the various configuration options a breeze. Many of the settings, especially ones that can be confusing or esoteric, have links to the corresponding FAQ entry to explain the purpose and usage. The pro features are worth the cost, even if just to help ensure continued support of the app.

I had been using the Blackberry Hub+ Inbox app for many years but decided to find a replacement. I get 100s of emails per day across three servers so productivity was the key. I tried several email apps but none ticked off all boxes for me. I was frustrated and about to give up when I came across FairEmail. It ticked off all of the boxes and then some... The ability to unify inboxes and handle IMAP IDLE from a Dovecot server was the downfall of many of the other apps I tried. I found it had low battery drain and privacy features like blocking tracking and showing hidden headers were unexpected pluses. Bulk operations like mark all read were quick and easy with a clean and powerful UI. Like other reviewers it only took a couple of days to realize that this was the one I was looking for and purchased the Pro features. It has a lot of customizable features so I'll be digging through the documentation to find hidden goodies. It would be nice if it had the ability to mark an email as read when you delete it so it doesn't show up as unread in the trash but with all of it's options it may be there already.

the App is great. it did not take long for me to get the PRO version. I've got 3 email accounts linked without a hitch. My only request would be to have an option to enable notification previews when the fingerprint feature is active. Update: Thank you for adding the requested feature. I've been using this email app for months now and I have no complaints. This is the best email app on Android without question. Highly recomend the PRO version. Money well spent.

Reliable app that doesn't have all the features that some other email apps do, but FairEmail reliably works all of the time with the features that's implemented. I don't know of any other app that lets you read an email without triggering tracking pixels. That's a gigantic plus. Also, it doesn't intercept your email and sell your data to the highest bidder. I don't need any of the features the Pro version has (they're handy though), but I upgraded the app to support the project. Glad to have it.

Excellent open source choice for an email app. Very easy to use, yet powerful. It may seem rough around the edges if you're used to mainstream apps, but the features it has for your privacy can make it seem so. Email was designed as a text based protocol. Images in emails can be used to exploit weaknesses and hide malicious links. Being able to see the links directly is a bonus for those who are security and privacy minded.

This is an excellent E-mail client, especially if you know something about E-mail as it hides nothing. Errors and problems that other e-mail clients silently ignore that screw-up logins or sending/receiving messages, (are you listening Outlook?), are shown so you can deal with them, though less technical people may find it difficult at first. A bit of a learning curve, but well worth it. Also a solid recommend as a "business/corporate" e-mail client.

FairEmail is a fast, reliable, stable, secure email client that has more key features than most desktop clients. It is highly customizable and has an excellent set of security features. The developer is responsive and has rapidly expanded the feature set while refining the UX in response to user feedback. I feel confident investing time to adjust it to fit my needs. It is one of the first apps I install on a new phone. If email matters to you, I think you'll like it.

I looked through a number of different email apps for my phone while my desktop was more or less unavailable during and after Hurr. Ian. Found this one, and was seriously impressed with the features and NO ADS. The one issue, Aurtorun, I did not figure out on my own, and the developer quickly showed me how. Hard to argue with that kind of fast accurate support. and Thanks.

So far this app has been awesome, I highly recommend it. For the longest time, I had been using the Outlook app to manage all my email accounts. It was doing a pretty good job, but for the past 6 months it (Outlook) had been struggling to keep my IMAP accounts synced. Basically, it stopped showing me new emails. Anyways, I recently found FairEmail, set it up for my IMAP email accounts and it has worked like a champ. If you are looking for a good alternative to Outlook, look no further.

Zoom function is not fully functional. For example I was using outlook before and in there I could zoom in and the image would zoom as well. In here only the text zoom in, the image stays the same. This is the only issue I was able to find so far, otherwise it is a top notch app . Update: Thanks for the clarification. It serves my purpose this way as well.

FairEmail is a good app. I've been testing it over the past few months trying to decide if I wanted to stay with it before purchasing (supporting) the app. The only part I don't like so far is that the message UI takes up way to much of the upper part of the screen. I've looked at settings trying to gain the space back as this hinders the view of the email to me. Other than that FairEmail is very promising.

Oh yeah! I have been looking for something like this where I can filter by sender and then multiple select to delete. Thank you so much. I love the compact and simple design. Plus a ton of options for free. I just found this but if it continues to be is good as it seems I will pay for the upgrade just to support dev. Thank you for a one-off premium option and not a dang recurring fee. So many of these email apps are not very good and restrict to only basic usability. Fingers crossed! P4a & LGG8

Excellent on privacy. Versatile. Maybe just a little complicated to tailor, but Marcel was extremely helpful and patient, and even ultimately improved functionality to make it easier to use. It has its users as its customers--users are not the product being sold to commercial interests! I don't really need the Pro version but I wanted to support this person and the app. I hope you will, too, so that it is worth his while to keep it going! (I have no relationship to anyone involved.)

After Mymail ceased to work properly, I found that FairEmail is the only alternative I was able to find that is able to do push notifications for folders other than the inbox. Its flexibility is impressive, even if it is occasionally a bit challenging, but that’s ok because the developer is wonderfully responsive and helpful with technical questions. I’ve never dealt with anyone better.

I use FairEmail to connect to my organization's 365 email. It does what I need it to do, some of the power user features are more than I'll probably ever touch. I did have an instance where I tried to insert a picture inline but the receiving party claimed they couldn't see it. I can't absolutely verify if that was a failing of the software or simply operator error.

Had a little bit of complication with the app, but contacted support and got it fixed. Learning curve is a little steeper than expected, but seems to be well worth it. I came here from myMail because my msn based accounts kept failing to update and constantly had to re-add them, and recently -cannot- add them, but FairEmail is the only one I've tried that seems to have this issue sorted out. It's very important to me to be able to get email notifications, I'd highly recommend this app :)

Steep learning curve but it works really well. Blocks pointless tracking and makes it easy to manage multiple inboxes. EDIT:. Just to be clear, it is super simple to use once configured, it's just a steep learning curve on setting it up! Having it be massively customizable makes it a bit intimidating at first, but it is great to have the ability to customize it to my exact specifications.

My personal favorite email app. I love the unified inbox, tons of options and features, and it does what I want it to. Another feature I love is its ability to block tracking images in emails. It's surprising that 99% of emails I get from businesses contain a tracking image/pixel. The app does feel secure. Should also mention I haven't even upgraded to pro version yet (will be at some point). Definitely worth checking out.
