Description of Cisco Jabber

Cisco Jabber™ for Android is a collaboration application that provides presence, instant messaging (IM), cloud messaging, voice and video calling, voicemail capabilities on Android phone, tablet and Android Wear devices. Escalate your Jabber calls into multi-party conferencing with Cisco Webex® Meetings. This integrated collaboration experience works with both on premise and cloud-based collaboration architectures.

This application supports the following capabilities:
• High-quality voice and video with interoperability to Cisco TelePresence and other audio/video endpoints
• IM and presence in on-premises, Webex Messenger or team messaging deployment
• Visual voicemail
• One-tap escalation to Webex meetings (cross-launches the Cisco Webex® Meetings application)
• Meeting controls in Cisco Meeting Server(CMS) meetings and Webex CMR meetings

Every single time I use the app it asks me if I want to turn off battery optimization. There should be a way to permanently say no. I do not want Jabber constantly running in the background and I do not want to be asked every single time I use it. If you have WebEx it auto launches with Jabber and keeps opening after you close it.

Cisco Jabber is the best app for voice calls. I have been using it for years now. It helps to reduce costs and very economical.

The Android app does not sync to the desktop/ windows. The desktop app needs to be reset nearly every single day in startup.

Works well enough but keeps trying to launch Webex. Use the app for calls but every time I launch it it then opens Webex which I do not have an account for or need at that time so I close it and it opens Webex up again. This is VERY annoying. Would give it more stars if it were not for that issue. Calls are clear and decent. The PC version which replaced Cisco IP communicator last time I used was not as friendly as the IP comm version. As Jabber is also a chat app that is is default layout.

Not a fan of Cisco or most of the other services my organization has contracts with. Interface is limited and feels like like it's just an adaptation of decades-old tech instead of an innovation that makes things easier. My main compliant is that the shared line option is limited to the desktop app. Please take a note from more modern dialer programs like Dialpad, which do all of the things someone would expect from a modern service.

Newer versions of Jabber are exceptionally unstable and cannot maintain a connection in the background. I have downgraded to 12.5.0 (the latest version I could find that still uses the background process that appears in the notification tray) and my incoming call reliability improved dramatically. Please, Cisco, bring back the background process!

I get disconnected a lot when on work phone calls and meetings, which is extremely frustrating. Also the app turns itself off quite often and I do not know this until someone from works tries to call me and I can see the call on my computer, but it does not come through on my phone. Very disappointed with this app.

It sucks! Never wants to reconnect at the beginning of my work day. I always have to reset jabber and it still takes an hour to connect. Drives me crazy and I am missing calls from patients So they did an update March 1st or so and now I can only use my cell to make calls( only if it decides to connect to the system) in order to answer calls I have to use the computer wifi. This is why I wanted the app as I live rural and wifi calling is not the best option. The app is useless now.

Still no fix for the persistent notification. I'm seeing replies that we should reach out to our server admins which shouldn't be necessary. It's an app on my phone where I have control of the settings. I've completely disabled the call services. Not sure why corporate call server settings should control a notification icon when I'm just using the IM features. This worked perfect for me in June... July updates and onwards has made this extremely unreliable.

It works but not well. Better volume control needed. A lot of times I can't hear the caller even on speaker. No issues with volume on other apps. Also, call does not always come through properly. I will see missed calls and then the next call will come through fine and I haven't left my desk.

Not compatible with Android 11. I use this for work calls while I'm working remote. Each day that I've used this app since installing Android 11, a Jabber call caused the phone to crash. Black screen, unresponsive to buttons, requiring a hard reset. It's occurred during calls and also while a call is incoming and I'm attempting to answer.

Overall, pretty good, but I do have a few issues. The screen *still* stays on all the time, unlike the native phone app when the screen dims and goes dark after a timeout (or immediately, if the prox sensor detects the phone is next to my ear). Would like the ability to download a voicemail. Doesn't interface with my calendar in Outlook--only with the phone's native calendar). Lately, for incoming calls, it only rings once and I have to call the other person back.

Update Jan 2023: still sucks to the sucks. Have been through three different phones over the years with Jabber, and none of them will let me answer just buzzes or rings, and I can't pick up.Still not the only one this does this to. iOS too Won't ring my android. Just buzzes my cell phone with no option to pick up the call. Our IT dept can't figure it out either. I can call out fine. And yes, we've obviously checked all settings. It's an app problem, and I'm not the only one to have this issue.

I have to uninstall and reinstall the app once or twice a week in order to connect to the phone services to dial out. Even when it goes through, a fair amount of people report that my connection is spotty and I usually have to try them back from a more stable phone line. Only earned the second star because I wouldn't be able to connect to my work phone number without it.

When it works, it's good. However, I have had many problems with this app since it was installed on 5/18/20, for work. These include unresponsive touchscreen, error messages of "phone services not available", frequent crashes and need to restart the app or the entire phone after every call, freezes, and poor sound quality (can't be heard by the other party). Every fix seems to be short term.

Behavior during calls is not consistent with other phone apps: screen does not dim/deactivate, notifications and other apps can interrupt and play over calls. The numbers on the dialer take up the entire screen, which is a little unwieldy but usable. Call quality otherwise seems to be pretty good in my environment, both on the network and over the internet. Would like to see scheduling added to automatically control when services are enabled.

When it works it is great. Since working from home I have to use this app for my phone calls. I have to uninstalland reinstall on a daily basis the last two weeks to make it work correctly. It won't let me make calls out, it drops calls when they come in. It is a disaster. I would give it negative stars if I could. Update - I am now to the point that uninstall and reinstall the program at least TWICE a day. Cisco really needs to come up with a fix for this problem.

Undoubtedly the worst app I have ever used. The cell phone versions (both Android and iPhone) only support one line, so if you have multiple phones in your office, you'll have to pick which one you actually care about. The PC version supports 8 line forwarding...but is so unbelievably annoying to set up, it appears to have been intentionally designed to be user-unfriendly. I've literally been back and forth with my IT people for over 24 hours trying to get it to work. 1 star is too many.
