the biggest problem with it is that it doesn't keep your settings, even through a commercial break. You have to go back in and turn the closed captioning back on over and over. It has a save settings option, but of course that doesn't work either. The streaming is very good on the actual programming, but is pretty rough on the commercials, sometimes doubling their length. And then there is no real tech support.

The app's metadata management is atrocious. I have meticulously named all of my media files using the recommended pattern and it utterly fails to recognize huge swathes of the library, tagging them as completely different episodes or movies and WORSE playing those different files instead of the actual correct files. It also continuously puts episodes in the wrong order. Absolutely not worth it at all.

This used to be my go to app for anything streaming videos and movies related. After the last few updates, it seems that the developers no longer care about the portion the users actually use. I bought the lifetime plex pass ages ago so I could steam all my movies and videos from anywhere. Now the functionality is broken on all of my devices and I am unable to use it. I can't even use their horrible streaming services. Off to Jellyfin I go.

I just joined this app and I really hope I'm not the only one who has absolutely no idea how to play the movies. The advertisement described the app as an app where you can watch your favorite movies for free. After I searched up a movie and clicked it, it never gave me the option to watch it on this app. It said I could add it to my watchlist, or see which streaming services (which you have to pay for) have that specific movie available, but there was no option where I could actually watch it.

I really wish this app were a 5 star app, but it is terrible. Crashes frequently. Want to fast forward or rewind a few seconds? Your video will freeze and good luck EVER getting it to restart without force closing the app, clearing the cache, and restarting it from the beginning. The worst part is people have been posting this on their forums for years, so it is clear they don't care at all. Just look at all the reviews they ignore if you needed further evidence. I would gladly pay if it worked.

It works well but has some extremely stupid design elements. The back button actually closes the app instead of going back to the last screen. Offline downloads don't work at all. Everything else is basically "OK" the app has gone downhill dramatically in quality recently while the developer focuses on features no one wants while ignoring major long term bugs.

Can't describe an experience that never happened. I downloaded and opened app to a blank screen. Nothing appeared for me to choose from. I only had access to logging out screen, and when I tried to log back in to see if it worked, said I couldn't be authenticated. There was no option for deleting account that I could find either. So disappointed!

The hallmark of a good app is whether or not it can properly replace the website, and this, unfortunately, the app fails in spectacularly. While I love the plex.tv service itself, the app is barely functioning. It often restarts playback when pausing and playing, which is a nightmare for audiobooks, and the playback speed resets with every track, so good luck listening to slow audiobooks with short chapters. Hoping these features will be fixed—looking forward to updating my review to 5 stars!

Just when I think it couldn't possibly get any worse... Now I can't even see episodes. Just seasons, and when I click on a season, it says how many episodes there are, but they do not appear and there is no way to select anything but the "next episode" button. Now it's pointless. I'm done with Plex and I'm done with worthless Chromecast. You have both spent years ignoring the pleas of your users and this is what happens.

This is the worst player app I've ever used in my 45 years. It currently says my Shield is currently unavailable along with many other problems. Don't buy a Shield unless you have to for some reason. They don't provide any support and haven't fixed problems I've had since I bought it close to 2 years ago. The second best part is that if you're Internet is down, you can't watch anything on your storage. The third best part is having buffering making things unwatchable with wifi 6e and 1 gb speed.

Plex is a good streaming service, but the app is iffy at best. I typically use it to listen to music and it does that fine... For the first few songs. I can make it through the first eight or so songs in an album before it continually says "An error has occured playing this item", which is infuriating. Is there a fix for this?

continues to get slower and less reliable and more bloated with every update. Plex pass money going to features I don't want. All I want is a reliable player that can transcode and send video over the internet. Yet this many years in and it's still far too hard to troubleshoot playback issues and buffering. It is so infuriating how unreliable it is.

Buggiest app ever. Stops playback after a few minutes when watching things on mobile. When casting, it works fine...as long as you never pause the movie. If you do, you'll have to recast plex and play the movie again. Also, after disconnecting, it randomly decides to cast itself again, stopping me from watching whatever else I might be casting. Garbage.

if you are looking to watch streaming TV and movies, there are currently many options. if you are on a budget or just looking to cut the cable, there are also many free streaming. in my experian and opinion, the Plex app is one of the best FREE streaming apps that I have ever used. to date, they have some of the best streaming channels not available anywhere else!

There's a good selection of movies, and you can find some that don't seem to be available elsewhere, but dang, those ad breaks get annoying, and the timer often either goes into the negative or suddenly jumps to a larger number in order to squeeze in more. If you're trying to figure out if you have time for a movie, make sure you add on like half an hour to the runtime for ad breaks

Lord help! Such a great opportunity, but I have never in my lonely, over streaming life experienced the amount of buffering during the playing. Not just with the content but with the EXTREMELY long commercials. A 45-minute episode can take well over an hour to watch. If the content wasn't good enough, I would easily dismiss the option for more stable vendors. Yes, I ha e tried different Wi-Fi, Data only, different browsers, and different locations. Same experience. It is 100% the app.

I've been a long time Plex user. In general, I really do like Plex, but over the past few years, some features that are really important to me have either been removed (the ability to use Chromecast with synced/downloaded content) or replaced with something that works poorly (downloads vs sync). Now, I won't say that Sync was perfect, but it did seem to work a bit more reliably than Downloads (for me, at least). If those 2 features worked well, then I'd give 5 stars for sure.

Far better app than I expected for a platform like Plex. It's VERY good compared to others. However, the app does require frequent closing and re-launching because the UI/UX tends to break down after you've been using it for a while. Things become slow and unresponsive with random error messages. None of this really affects the viewing experience, but the stability and speed could be better.
