Description of Notepad - simple notes

Notepad is a small and fast notetaking app for making notes, memos, or just any plain text content. Features:
* simple interface that most of the users find easy to use
* no limits on note's length or number of notes (of course there's a limit to phone's storage)
* creating and editing text notes
* importing notes from txt files, saving notes as txt files
* sharing notes with other apps (e.g. sending a note by email)
* notes widget allowing to quickly create or edit notes, working like post it notes (stick a memo to home screen)
* backup function for saving and loading notes from a backup file (zip file)
* app password lock
* color themes (including dark theme)
* note categories
* automatic note saving
* undo/redo changes in notes
* lines in background, numbered lines in a note
* technical support
* search function that can quickly find text in notes
* unlock app with biometrics (e.g. fingerprint or face recognition)

It may be obvious, but notes in the app can be used in many ways. For example as a to do list to increase productivity. A sort of digital planner to store shopping list or to organize the day. Notes can be put on the home screen as reminders. Each task could be stored in a seperate note or one big todo note could be used.

** Important **
Please remember to make a backup copy of notes before formatting a phone or buying a new phone. Since the 1.7.0 version the app will also use phone's device copy, if it's turned on in the device's and the app's settings.

* Why do I advise to not install the app on an SD card?
I follow the official advice to block installing on an SD card apps that use widgets. This app uses widgets, which are like icons for the notes, and can be placed on a phone's home screen (for example).

GREAT for a simple app! Very functional with MANY OPTIONS FOR SAVING NOTES!!! I really liked the options for file sharing. I lost 145 crucial memos from a different app on my main phone with a fried mothboard, because there was zero way to save even one note w/o individually copying each line and transferring it to a word doc or pdf! I love this app, I've been using it for years & would be lost without it. Love that I can group all my notes in categories. Recommend backing your notes up regularly on SD card if your notes are important to you to make switching phones easier. When I switched phones, I may have backed it up wrong, As I lost all my categories. Thankfully, I screenshot them b4 I switched. I hope there is no limit on the number of notes because I have hundreds. Ads not bothersome at all. Highly recommend!

Great app for notes, grocery list etc. Also good for something you need to jot down real quick. One click and you can start a new note, then it automatically saves. I've downloaded it on 3 different phones now. If you need to back up a note, you can always do a screen capture. It will back up to a zip file also, if you want to back up all of your notes at once. It is very easy to cut and paste to and from the app, which I do quite often.

So far so good. Previous note app suddenly started displaying full page ads. Some things I liked about the other app were you did not need to save your note. It automatically saved on exit using the first line in the note as a "note name or the file name". It always had ads in the footer which was fine. Full page ads are a deal breaker for me. One other annoyance was you couldn't print the notes. Update: After a year and 1/2 I'm still very happy with this app.

It's fine for just making quick notes. But it's lacking in the fact that you can't easily move it around to other apps or email systems unless you just copy/paste it. It doesn't save on its own sight, so there's no simple transferring if you get a new phone. AND FINALLY, the way it stops and sends the cursor to the bottom of the page is beyond frustrating, if you dare pause while you're proofreading.

I know ads are really annoying, but I actually love the way this app handles them. None of the ads are obtrusive and there's even an option to disable them by watching videos, one video stopping ads for 7 days. The notepad is super easy to use and is perfect if you're just looking for a basic notepad and all in all, this is a very good app. I know it might be silly to care so much about the ads, but I really like how they were handled!

I've used the app for quite a few years now and refer to it for scheduling reminders to supplement a calendar app, grocery lists, serial numbers related to home maintenance, surgery dates frequently asked for on medical forms, car related info, and a number of other categories. The only issue I have is a page jumping back to the top when I don't want it to. I understand Samsung or someone is working to fix that. It doesn't interfere much. That change seemed to work. Thanks a lot!

I do a lot of voice to texting since my vision began to decline. I use this app often for keeping track of errands and also for journaling and making lists of all kinds. It's easy to use and can be exported easily into other apps. It's very good with punctuation as well. I also like the fact that to save it all you have to do is back out of the document. It saves automatically. Responsiveness and support is excellent.

Love the App. Been using it for a couple of years and it's worked great. I do have one issue with it now, When making an edit to a list and I pause for any amount of time it will scroll down to the very bottom of the list Automatically. Not sure if it's my phone that cause it or if it's something in the app. It could be a reason for me to stop using it. it's just a little annoying. I use a Samsung S22+ UPDATE**** Quick response with a quick fix. Thanks! It was a Samsung update issue 5 stars!

Everything I need - nothing I don't (like ads). Recently used it to organize myself for a cross-country drive. I kept lists and a journal. It was of great utility and worked flawlessly. Glad to have it. Update to above about a year and a half later: still like the app a lot - just wish the cursor would stay where I save a document. That way I would be able to pick up editing later without having to scroll down to where I previously left off.

App works great! I would like to see the option to save the notes externally, but that is still being worked upon, I understand. Otherwise an excellent app. Used for almost 6 months. The adds can be turned off by watching a short video, as explained within the app options. Not a huge issue, as I went almost 2 months without realizing why the top of the app looked different! That shows how observant I am! All in all, a great app! Well done!

I don't rate apps often, but this one is great!! It's free, the only adds are small banners (no popups). It does exactly what it says it does. It's a simple notes app. I love that when you close out of it, it automatically saves your note. *Edit* I tried the "turn off ads" feature and it's great! I already didn't mind the banners, but this is a really cool feature. Watch a 7 second video to turn off ads for the next 10 days? Sign me up

Very lightweight, very stable, used for years. Biggest downside is no availability to sync with other devices. But that's fine for what this app is for. At least you can backup everything in it. If you want a note app that syncs across all your devices and to your desktop, I recommend Standard Notes. This app here is just a fast and lightweight way to take notes on your device. It's very fast because of its simplicity. Also, wish there was a folder system

I love this app! The interface is pretty straightforward. When ads are shown it is in an intrusive way, never having to view an ad in order to use! The app helps me daily, keeping track of lists, notes, and other important data I need to save and access quickly. The password lock lends a lot of security to my data as well. On top of that, there is a backup facility, so I'll never lose important data. I have had zero issues since installing.

Edited. Now it needs 6 stars! I would never have found that setting on my own. I'm an old lady, and sometime I'm a bit befuddled. Great app. I've been using it for a couple of years now and it works. I keep doing lists, thought and recipes on it. Nice to have a choice of lined or unlined interface. And the numbering helps, especially when there are a list of items or lists. And I can check off and even delete the entry when I'm done- either partially or fully. Love the info option as well.

Great app! Very user friendly and minimalistic-which I like. I wish I'd thought to look into its settings more than I did (or, at all). If I had, I would've seen the handy import/export feature-would've been super helpful in backing up notes before upgrading my phone. Instead, they weren't exported/backed up and I lost important stuff. My own fault, but if I had known about that awesome feature, I would still have those important notes. Now you know about it and can learn from my mistake.

Clean and simple app. Perfect for taking either quick or detailed notes. Notes can be assigned to multiple categories for easy sorting and organization. There is basic editing (cut/copy/paste, delete) but not formatting like bold or headings. If you want those type of features you should look at word processing app. Notes can also be exported as text file or text files can be imported. While no one really likes ads, the ones in this app are small and generally don't get in the way.

It's exactly as described on the tin: a notepad. It has features beyond what one would normally find, helping you to keep track of your notes when your collection of quickly jotted-down notes grows mountainous. Not to mention other useful options like being able to import/export text files, among many others. It doesn't have any half-assed or poorly-thought-out UI elements or features that are forced on you. The only thing it lacks, I think, is a "Support the Developer" button for me to press.
