The backup options are confusing and not well explained. You just have these switches to turn on vaguely explained things to backup... Multimedia messages? Wait, so not all text messages just ones with pictures and videos? Or is this even talking about text messages at all? And photos... How will this work if you're already using Google photos? Does it throw everything on your drive storage for a second time? Does it...i mean... What does it do? There's no attempt to explain this stuff...

Google One misses the mark. While it comes standard on the Android OS and one has a huge fault of not being able to be mapped to a drive. Microsoft's One Drive and DropBox are capable of that and can be used with other appliances via such. As of this review, I have to download to my device or share it via a phone app (which is hard to read and less capable than my other devices. So far the only reason to keep Google One is because it is the default for Android phones. Even AWS is a better choice

This app is the best. I've read a lot of reviews about people having problems but I've had none what so ever. I actually got a free three month trial for being a Local Guide on Google Maps plus a $5 credit for Google Play. That's a pretty nice perk right there. I'm sure I'll continue using it once my trial is up. I have so much stuff in different cloud drives so I love how it shows the three (Drive, Gmail and Photos) all together. I highly recommend this to anyone.

Not worth it. Spent hours online with Support just transferred back and forth between departments; never addressed issues; lost in the shuffle. Many wasted emails back and forth. They give up at some point after just telling me to reset and reinstall every time, and I'm like, "yea, we have been through this before. Why do you have no record of it." Literally every time I seek Support it's like the first time. It's a Kafkaesque nightmare far worse than any problem I originally saught help for.

I just got my Pixel 6a and was happy with the experience overall. However, Google One is a different story. I don't like my phone using background data, so I have all of that turned off, and to use Wifi as much as possible. The problem with Google One does not follow that policy at all. Despite turning Use Mobile Data off, it still uses a large amount of data without permission, even though I'm home and my phone is connected to WiFi. I hope Google fixes this issue soon.

It used to work up until two months ago when it suddenly blocked my VPN. The app would constantly say that it was reconnecting, then cut off. A week ago it suddenly just stopped allowing me to turn the add-on on at all. Now the VPN won't even say it is connecting, the slider automatically turn off. I checked to see if my country was listed and it was supposed to be supported.

Not exactly overwhelmed with features. Something of a disappointment really. It's functional with all it has, but not impressive. Developer Note Reply: Areas such as the file section are barebones and don't have any means to filter the data to focus on the actual areas they may want to clean up somewhat. Nor is there a option to ignore a set of files in future displays of data suggested to be removed. All of the included applets are basic barebones without any added functionality such as I mentions. This applies to the Photo gallery and every aspect of our data that's shown in the app. Every item shown under 'Free up account storage', must be selected individually. It is literally impossible to selectively remove old data, large files, etc when you are shown 1k+ of choices. These are all barebones options that don't come close to the functionality of my desktop file applications abilities to perform these searches on my local drive. Unfortunately there is not a decent Linux driver to enable solid connection functionality as an alternative to this app. It's simply designed for the lowest common denominator expected to use it. More savvy customers will find it literally useless in it's current form. We expect greatness coming out of Google on par with it's productivity apps. This just doesn't make the grade or cut the mustard. Note: An example is this review process. Everything is jumbled together without having a CR/LF to separate topics such as those I brought up here. This is simply cheesy.

This fairly price service is buggy, lacking in some basic functionalities, and there's basically no tech support. Very disappointed with Google. I switched to Google One and Google Drive to replace the also-buggy Microsoft Drive, and was rather appalled to find out that (1) you cannot select folders for offline access, only specific files, one by one; (2) you can't save files into Google Drive from an Android device, or at least not if the device is from Samsung. Ridiculous!

I've used this service for over a year and although it works as intended, it's most beneficial to those whose tech loyalty is heavily tethered to the Google platform and it's services. Being able to see (in one central place) what's stored/using space in your Gservices is great, but this app isn't the only place to do so and it only gives you an overview. You still have to access each service to see specific files. Not a must-have....yet.

Backups do not work. I tried to restore my data, but received an error. I reached out to Google for support and was told it was a bug that they would work on. There is no way of pausing backups or exporting my backup, so Google One overwrote my backup while I was waiting for them to get back to me. I lost my data, have a useless backup now, and when I complained directly to Google they said they would escalate the issue on two occasions but have so far done nothing. Completely unacceptable.

Great app. Backs up not only my photos and videos but also my phone data and multimedia messages. However, I backed up 3,000 photos and videos but it still stuck saying "370 waiting to back up" and it seems like it only backs everything up when your phone is on, lit up, and you're staring at it basically. But it has perks for more storage, you get YouTube premium free for 3 months, and 40% select hotels which is nice.

So far easy to use, quick clean up of phone, & a couple of extra benefits that I look forward to playing with later. The photo editor perks have peaked my interest. However, when I select face grouping, it shows the oldest picture of me. 😳 Also, probably the least flattering picture as well! I tried to change it but no go. SMH

The app just seems pointless. It consolidates a few various Google features into one place but all of them can be managed within other apps. Storage can be managed in Drive and photo/video backups in Google Photos. Device data backup is managed in your system settings. The only unique feature it adds is MMS backup, which would be nice if it worked, but it doesn't even backup automatically so it just seems kind of worthless.

Useful app for backing up your data. Except there's no way to set the backup frequency so it often goes 5 or 6 days between backups. Also when it backs-up it monopolizes your WiFi bandwidth so you can't do anything else for a while. Would be better if you could set the backup frequency (every day? every few hours?) or else tell it a convenient time to backup (say, 3am?). As is it's useful but the data backup is not well thought out.

Waste of an app - it's the exact information available through your account settings. Worse, it's a massive advertisement to buy more storage. The most obvious thing lacking: a RESTORE button. What's the point of having a backup - and the app has all kinds of backup options - if I can't RESTORE the data??! I wanted to use a backup to transfer data to another phone;. nope, not an option without a hard reset. Huh?!! Even if I wanted to use the backup on the same phone. Nope, hard reset.

It's a decent app, it's not quite all in one as I would like. When I'm trying to clear up space it's hard because I can only see the thumbnail of pictures and I can't watch videos. Also I wish there was more levels to storage. I don't need 50gbs, it took me years to use 15 so to be able to add just about 10 more for a monthly or yearly fee, or even better of one time fee would be great.

So far, I like the this app. It's very easy and simple to navigate with quality graphics and storage options. However, I still have trouble sharing my storage with other family accounts which is why I chose this plan. Until I can straighten this out my rating will remain 3 ★ s. Another problem is the constant emails and notifications to upgrade or buy more storage. I just did and until I need more I won't. Somewhat annoying.

I have a paid account and recently upgraded to 2TB and I still cannot control or see what I can or cannot backup, even when selecting 'see details.' The 'details' are basically turning on or off 3 things: data, multimedia messages or photos/videos. So, if you want to see if a certain folder is being backed up, you can't. If you want to see if your memory card is included in the backup, you cannot. For such a big company with so many geniuses, it is baffling on how little thought is put into so many things.
