This is an easy to use translator. I enjoy using it. I can copy & paste translations into messages or emails easily. The only language where I encountered any problems were Persian. It is great from English to Persian, but there are issues if a person speaks Farsi into the microphone. The translation to English is incomplete.

Of all the live translating apps, this seems to be the best (at least for Japanese). The only thing I'd ask is to use the typical left/right side messaging screen layout. Based on the current design, when doing continuous translation, it clears the screen of the previous translation. By using a messaging format, I can still see the previous while it continues translation and is also be able to scroll back too review. For continuous translation, it should continuously actively translate.

Good Russian English translation. Has image and speech inputs and speech output, history, and a phrasebook. Alternative translation feature is especially helpful. Usage examples would be helpful. It lacks the handwriting recognition (Ink) abilities of the Windows PC version. Handwriting recognition is a faster input method than an on-screen keyboard. Perhaps this is an Android limitation? Bottom line: Microsoft Translator is an excellent app.

Love the ability to translate quickly. I wish I could control how long it stays on for a conversation or if there is mode for conversations would be better. That way I am not constantly pressing and holding the mic on screen. I also find it hard to read when I have to press and hold the button.

While both Google, Microsoft, & Babel have reliable translation services, I think Microsoft's app is the easiest & most practical to use with reliability in it's translation. The camera function has been a huge plus in translating signs on the spot. I also had the opportunity to test out the voice feature while accidentally walking into a wrong conference in a different language. Decided to have some fun and test it out & was surprised how well it kept up and accurate it was!

I've been using this app for ages and it's one of the most diverse, accurate translators ever. I speak fairly fluent German so I tested it out and it was pretty spot on. The range of translatable languages is impressive and having features like voice translation helps remove the language barrier and open communication up for me and my neighbors when needed. Ditch Google Translate and give this a shot.

This is a fantastic translation app! I'm so glad it's available on Android phones--because MS has always owned grammar and language understanding so much more than freaking Google and Apple. I usually use the text-input option, but when I've used camera input, it has been brilliant as well. It feels weird to say this because I resent corporate loyalty, but I miss Windows phones. Oh well. At least we still live in a world where some stellar products can infiltrate others' platforms.

Excellent! Absolutely the best i've tried. I have it on every device. Offers 46 languages and can download any of them for offline use. Love that it can pronounce anything you ask it to when online. Has a dialog mode with the upper panel inverted so that two people can hold the phone between them and converse fluidly, (voice only.) Has messaging translator feature, and a phrasebook and dictionary. Supports Ink, Cortana, and image translation. Voice features only work when online. Good help sys.

This product is horrible for several reasons. First, it doesn't do streaming or realtime content. It is only able to be of use in conversation with two people where each person pauses to read the output. So, if you have a movie or lecture, it will only hear snippets and translate a few sentences at a time. You have to press the microphone again every few seconds, and you will miss half of what is said anyway. Second, the translation is constantly changing. So you cannot know what is new and old. It puts the new content and edits near the start usually with ever word, making it very hard to read since it is always chaning.

It does a solid job of translations. However I have noticed it has a very difficult time picking up regional slang and/or euphemisms. Perhaps an opportunity for one to speak more formally and properly but otherwise a slight annoyance. Context: Being used by my spouse and I so they can learn Spanish. Overall: Definitely worth the download. Happy Learning Everyone!

Very robust app. Everything works as expected. Can you guys add features to help people transcribe? I have times where I need to listen without speaking and using the Single tanslation feature is cumbersome when I have to keep pushing the microphone button while focusing and paying attention to the text. They had a similar feature in Google Translate with their Transcribe feature.

Very good application for language translation. Quickly and easily move back and forth between languages to write correspondence for and incorporate that correspondence into any messaging application. Occasionally has issues with conducting the translation and is not feature rich in terms of paragraphing or scrolling. It is also limited in the amount of content. However, even with theses issues it gets the job done for the most part.

Definitely the best translation app out there. No gimmicks or pop up adds. I like that you can also pick out the different dialects ad well. For example when you choose Spanish it gives you the option to choose which country the Spanish language is from because they are many different versions of Spanish. Mexican, Dominican, Venezuelan, Honduras etc... I highly recommend this app

So far very impressed! It's tough to find a great translator, especially Hungarian! Trying Hungarian, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Japanese, & Simplified Chinese to start. Input by keyboard, pictures, or voice. It reverse translates all languages. So far appears to be pretty accurate (we'll see what Mom thinks of the Hungarian). I've not run into any technical problems yet, other than finding the right security settings to allow the WiFi download of the different offline dictionaries.

I enjoy using it. My favorite feature is when I take a picture of a document and the app translates it instantly. I can now purchase books in any language and read them without a problem. Although sometimes it is a bit difficult for the microphone to detect what's being said, (for that reason I took off one star) I must say I am still able to comunicate with my Korean neighbors and that to me is priceless.

I would definitely recommend this app for people who speak languages not normally translated. I was trying to find a good translation service for my friend who speaks Dari. This is one of the only apps, I have found that has Dari on them. Which is perfect, I just wish there was a bigger space for the app to read texts. It's helpful at times, definitely better than Google Translate sometimes. But I really wish they would update more or improve there app because there is so much potential.

Unreliable Functionality: It seems a more sensitive and well attuned software than Google translate - by far - but it will randomly stop working. The mic becomes unresponsive and renders the app's most convenient function unusable. Having better software doesn't count for much if it can't be reliable. Google may not be the best, but it's there when I need it to at least function. So I can't say I'll take this app as a true alternative.

I needed an English-Mandarin app for travelling. I just installed this app after almost going crazy with frustration using Pleco. It took me only 15 stress-free minutes to test all the features and actually understand how to use them. I mistakenly didn't give the app microphone permission, and had to go to their online help screen, but actually found the answer there, so all is well. The only thing I can fault so far is that it's not really clear if the spoken "Chinese" is Mandarin or Cantonese. If it's not the spoken language I need, I'll just fall back on the written Chinese (which is the same in both Mandarin and Cantonese). I'm still giving this app five stars because it was so simple to get up and functioning well.
