Latest update (June 23, 2023) overrides screen brightness. I have a Pixel 4a (5G), Android 13. Otherwise, awesome App. Hope they brightness issue will be fixed soon.

Echo with what Ashwin said. After the recent update the app is unable to play news in the background. One more news stops as soon as the screen goes blank.

Cannot get into pressreader on my phone via the library ticket. I have it on my I pad but not on my phone and I'm going round and round and round in circles trying to find out how to get in through the library. I've been on Google, on the app, on u tube and I still can't get it .

Started using this week and this app is brilliant. I've tried some other emagazine apps (i.e. RBDigital), and this is way better. I like the text view option for most articles, makes it so much easier to read on a phone screen. So far I haven't found any real snags, apart from a brief 'hang' when I open and it's downloading a publication. My one question is...having made such good app, how did you make the website so slow and cumbersome!

Great app overall and I like the user interface. Negatives: Occasionally glitchy though and has a tendency of killing my phone battery in the background. Even when I don't use the app at all, it can drain my phone battery (which normally lasts several days) in just a few hours, and battery usage in settings shows pressreader as having used >90% of the battery even when I haven't launched the app and only have a single publication set to auto-download.

Good app but let down by functionality that comes and goes at random. The function that gives you a mostly mostly magnified text, shown on Android by a green box around the heading is available sometimes on an article but not always. You open a publication and the green boxes aren't available for articles, some time later, they are. I have an up to date Google Pixel, so I'm sure it's not the phone. Needs fixing.

Perfect for me, too far away from civilisation to get newspaper deliveries. Quite a lot of features to learn about, but worth learning how to use everything. When a regular magazine (paid subscription) wasn't getting delivered through lockdown, i could take a screen shot of the crossword, print and do it. Several months later.... Why does it frequently block me out. I access this through our local library. I follow the correct procedure prompts but can't sign in. Or it wants me to 'go premium'

The best user interface I have seen in such an app. Easy to navigate, easy to zoom in to individual articles, helpful text layout (newspapers layout is really not made for mobiles 😀). Also the list of papers and magazines is extensive! I am missing Süddeutsche Zeitung, though 😉 But I guess I will just stick with both, this app, and the one paper-based newspaper that I do not find here. The built in TTS is not so good, luckily there is an option to use the android system TTS.

I love this app and use it regularly (thanks to our local library system for the free issues through this app). However, I can't tell whether I have read a magazine/newspaper issue without opening it up. A similar app I used made it available to see easily without opening the issue. Also, since the latest update, it constantly says it is downloading issues. It never stops. Update: Pressreader staff, I have just submitted the info via your website at your request.

Fairly easy to use, the main problem is when accessing content as part of a public library plan, the app is so focused on signing you up as an individual customer, it is confusing to get in as a library user. A separate sign in track would be great. The number of publications - available to me from throughout the world - is truly amazing.

The sign-in design could be improved. Every time I install this on a device I need to go to a faster internet connection. Otherwise when I choose 'libraries & groups' the drop down list fails to appear. This is because there is an XHR to fetch the entire list(!) of libraries (including some embedded logos) that needs to complete before the 10 second timeout expires. This list is around 4MB today. This could easily be rectified by separating out the embedded logos.

App is very buggy when accessing using a library card. I won't go into details here but basically I have to clear the storage and cache every time I open the app and want to re-download a specific publication.
