Update app is working perfectly; thank you! Old review: Not sure what's going on with the Android version of CNN. Videos don't work at times, links don't go to matching video from Home page on app. And when I open the app, it takes me back to the same article from weeks ago (even when I close the app, or all my app). I'm on a Note 10+ so not on an Android device. It worked bigger on my iPhone 7. Deleting and reading from there or on a browser. Bummer.

I appreciate the content still, as i have been using CNN as my primary new source for years. However, the new upgrade I was forced to install took away my favorite feature: being able to swipe left or right to move between articles within a topic heading. Not anymore. Now I have to clock a back button, scroll down to the best article, past more ads (key point here) to the next article, click that article, read it, back click when I am done reading, then repeat. What a bummer!

I love CNN's app. It's really easy to use. I like that I can see op-eds &analysis articles along w/breaking news coverage. I can easily scroll down through the articles I wish to read. I often read other news apps to see how the stories are covered. I've seen that many times the "meat" of the story remains the same. I DO wish a little more editing went into the on-line articles. We want them quickly, but not so fast that one more proof before submitting wouldn't help catch some missed words.

CNN is a relic of the 90s, and they're not really fit for this time and place. Their journalism seems to be targeted more towards shaping public opinion than toward informing their audience. CNN isn't providing a service, they're simply giving the establishment viewpoint. (Although if you're consuming their content with a little awareness, I suppose that is a service of sorts.) As far as the app: it's buggy, video content skips, and the ads are too frequent and too intrusive. It feels like a throwback to the web 2.0 era. Much easier to consume CNNs content (such as it is) through another channel, such as youTube.

Poor functionality. Had to use this app since apparently I can't get the CNN Go app on my Samsung smart tv. This app sucks. First of all, there's no "queue", so if you leave a video, you have to start all over with it later (including finding the video you were watching). Also, there's no fast forward button, so you're left to use your finger to slide to find the right spot where you left off. Also, there's no indication in the app of whether you've already viewed something. I could go on.

On the Android platform, this app has some issues. When I click on an article to read, it malfunctions. I can barely see that the article is being displayed in the background, but I cannot ever read it because the glitch doesn't display the article front and center. It's weird. And yes, I always make sure the app is updated. It's frustrating and I've now given up trying to access the articles. I now only use the app for live tv streaming. And even that is unreliable. Contemplating uninstalling.

You have a 5 minute free preview of live tv that I didn't even realize was a preview until over halfway in. It is almost entirely dominated by 11 consecutive ads. It was 3 and a half minutes of ads with 1 minute and 30 seconds of actual news coverage. That can't be on purpose. It's passive aggressive if it is. I don't mind ads. I don't mind if it was a trial, but it was first and foremost completely ridiculous.

The app is okay. But when I initially installed the app, I would get 1 notification at the top of my screen and when I click on it I would be able to see all of the headlines. Now each headline shows up individually. I prefer it the way that it was rather than what looks like about 50 separate CNN notifications across the top of my screen. And as soon as I swipe those away more show up.

Several times a day it will not load. Uninstalling and reinstalling fixes it for a few hours. After finishing an article and backing out, it goes to the top of page rather than staying where you were reading. These and other problems have been reported for a long time, but no fixes. Fox, NYT, WP and others don't have these issues.

Whoever CNN is using for their app and mobile content is really failing. You can barely read CNN articles in mobile browsers without ad content obscuring the text. So that makes their app a sure way to read their articles in entirety. Except recently when they're using graphics to display content, but haven't considered the mobile app can't display all the content on a single page, so the content gets cut off and there's no way to access it because scrolling only switches to the next graphic.

The app usually runs great~ Plenty of stories that are usually unbiased, and the biases can usually be spotted at first glance. The developers for the app have a tendency to break things when there's an update. Last time, the app returned to the top of the feed if you read an article, then returned to the main page. Now, the app automatically bookmarks articles that I don't particularly care about, before I've even scrolled that far. I have to un-check as I go, which is annoying.

Big mistake to take away the photos heading each story on the scroll. But the biggest mistake is that after reading each story, I'm bumped back to the top story, so I have to scroll down to find where I left off. Very frustrating! I have been a longtime CNN reader, but am currently reading on NPR News, which I recommend as much better- there is better editing of writing, thumbnail photos with headlines, and you retain your place in the scroll of stories. I'm deleting CNN until they fix bugs

The only problem I can report, but it IS an annoying one: After reading an article, when I tap the back button it takes a full six seconds to go back to the main page. As opposed to the WaPo or NYT apps, which are instantaneous. Update 11-12-21 The latest problem with horrible app is that after reading an article, hitting the "back" button now brings the reader to the TOP of the news feed and NOT to that article's location within the news feed. Just horrible.

This is a mostly good app. Whatever happened with the last update seems to have broken links from alerts and today's new issue is it won't load at all. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Whenever I am connected to WiFi it won't load. I am not using data just for this app. Also, subtitle the video stories or also provide a story link for what's in it. I don't always have the ability to play videos with sound and it is annoying to not be able to access that information. Fix it please.

I installed the CNN app in order to get Live coverage of the election. The app is excellent for live national and international news , and CNN programming. It's very easy to navigate, even for those who aren't technically savey. Its the same news feed that one gets through their cable or satellite provider, with the added benefit of being able to pause and pick up where you left off. You can easily find clips of previous CNN broadcast etc.. I've encountered no buffering, ad supported. 5 stars!

Don't get me wrong I love CNN, but this is one of the jankiest apps I've ever dealt with. I run into issues with it constantly. When I am casting the app to my tv it will work for about 30-45 minutes then it says "this content is blacked out". When this happens I can't just stop casting, I have to go to my settings and force stop the app. Then my chromecast still thinks it's connected so I have to reboot my tv. I run into issues while trying to watch on my phone also. Endless ad loops. ANNOYING!

This app is very glitchy; it doesn't allow me to read articles or watch videos when I attempt to click on them from the home page. It doesn't send me to the article page; it instead loads as a layer behind the home page, its really bizarre. I've made complaints to the developer, but it's been going on for MONTHS, and nothing has changed. Please provide an app update or something. The app is great aside from this.

I used to love this app, then CNN changed it so the ads would autoplay. I can no longer use this app in a place where it would be inappropriate to have media playing while browsing my phone, such as in a waiting room, while standing in a checkout line, while using public transportation, at work during a break, or while lying in bed (it would wake my husband). In essence, CNN's programmers have just created a situation where a lot of users are going to uninstall the app. I am one of them.
