Developers remove "keep downloads forever" option (-1 star). No mechanism to rate podcasts (-1 star). This would also help with podcast discovery for users. Errors out on multi episode download queue -1. Download for off-line use. Playback speed and skip/rewind options are incredible +1. Integration with Android auto is also working great. Please add support for playlists or different queues (different lists for different times or moods or topics).

Switched to Google Podcasts since stitcher is shutting down. It was very easy to find all my my podcasts and subscriptions. This app is fairly intuitive to use. I'm able to set up auto downloads and auto playback. I love the variable speed options, since I listen to most shows at 1.5x speed. I'm only a few days in, but after 20hr of podcast listening, it is working perfectly so far.

Only complaint: After an episode plays from the queue, it is removed. I like to fall asleep to my episodes but when I wake up, I have to go back and reload episodes I slept through. If it was done as a non-deleting playlist instead, I could just pull it up, pick about where I left off and wouldn't have to manually "Mark as Unplayed" every episode i slept through and re-add them to the queue. Otherwise the app is fantastic. Fix that and 5/5.

I like it when it works. But 1) does not play at my preferred playback speed (1.2x) when plugged into Android Auto nor does it allow me to change the sped on the car display. When I open the app on the phone (Pixel 7 Pro) it shows 1.2x, but playback is actually 1x. When I attempt to update in app, the audio goes silent (or faint hum). Closing and relaunching app doesn't fix the issue. Need to restart my phone.

Will give more starts once the problem is fixed. Now, this has already happened twice, but new podcast episodes are not showing up at all until days or even almost a week later after they have been released. I find them on other podcast streaming sites, but not this one. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Other shows i listen to have no problem updating now episodes, but certain ones do, and i dont know why

I've used Google Podcasts in the past but switched because at the time it didn't support rss imports. I'm thankful it does now because I may be switching back to it. One feature I would like to request is the support of OPML files to import all my current podcasts as well as the progress on them. That would be a very helpful feature and one that would made transitioning much easier.

Worst thing about this so is 2-3 times per 1 hour episodes the player skips either forward or back anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Not sure why/how but has gotten to the point where I can't stand it and will be switching. Decent ability to navigate to find/play podcasts to listen to. Pretty poor organization and episode navigation options. No home screen widgets. Poor execution on Google's part here. Do not recommend.

Technology must have advanced enough that all ads on this platform could have the volume made lower. This app is great and I want to stick with it BUT when I'm listening to podcasts at night and falling asleep, the ads are much louder than the podcast playing. I'll have to switch to another app if this is not resolved.

App is extremely buggy. I have to reset the app to the dark theme daily, the history no longer records my actual history (for the last 6+ months), the playback will randomly stop or replay the last 15 seconds or so, and it's just overall clunky to use and lacks the features other podcast apps have. Been on here for years, now looking for something smoother with less issues.

Due to the eventual demise of Stitcher, I've been forced to find a new podcast app. Unhappily, I tried Sirius, Spotify and a few others before I found Google podcasts. I'm more than satisfied. It has everything I liked about Stitcher and more. I love the fact I can make my own play lists. As someone that works with their hands, I constantly listen to podcasts and audio. My podcast app is very important to me. Please don't discontinue this app!

Good app, but missing features like searching descriptions inside a specific podcast. Also I uninstalled the app for a while and after reinstalling it forgot every episode I ever listened to before. Google's strength is supposed to be in the cloud and never losing anything. Really surprising and disappointing. Still a good reliable app otherwise.

Update I still love the app.,and I would love to see an eaiser way to search for new podcasts. love using this app! It is very easy to navigate. They could improve a bit on the categories. It can be tough to figure out where they sort some of the more obscure podcasts. There are some podcasts that don't fit nicely in any one category.

I think this app is awesome. I use it every day. It is integrated with my Nest Hub and work perfectly . My only request is please: make a smartwatch version available. When I go out to exercise, I have to use spotifi on the smartwatch. My desire is to use a single podcast platform, in this case, I prefer the google Podcast app. I will change it to 5 stars when the smartwatch version is released.

It's very simple & straightforward. I do, however wish that it would play the next podcast in the series, after the one you're listening to ends; instead of jumping to a completely different unfinished podcast in your history. I'd rather it autoplay the same channel, rather than jump around.

this app is terrible, constant playback errors cause pieces of episodes to either repeat or skip. like sometimes you'll be getting to the end of an episode and suddenly it will skip back to the middle of the episode and play a few minutes you already heard and then just end. and it's not like you can just skip back to the part you missed, the audio file itself has missing or repeat sections.

It's okay, but there's a glitch where it will often skip forward or backwards, often by a significant amount, and it can cause large portions of the podcast to be cut out entirely unless I take my phone out to re-buffer it. I often can't do that, as I listen to podcasts when I am driving or working. If not for this I would give it 4 or 5 stars easily.

I've used the app for several years. It consistently fails to download subscribed casts. Sometimes even if I have downloaded a cast it fails to play it bc something got messed up with the file. I love the simplicity of the app, but it really sucks. Need to find a different app. DO NOT invest your time with this if you listen to a lot of podcasts offline.

Simply put, the app will just stop playing a file and soft-exit itself. I'll listen to one or two minutes, then have to reopen the app and download another instance of the show. It's genuinely infuriating, especially as it seems to get worse when using wifi. So if I want less interruptions, I have to use mobile data, which has a limit for decent speed. So this app is definitely working my nerves.

Google Podcasts now supports adding podcasts by RSS feed! Open the app and navigate to Activity, and then to the Subscriptions tab. Select the three dots in the top right corner and then "Add by RSS Feed." Once added, the podcast will appear along with your other subscribed shows, including at the top of the Home tab.
