Description of Open Radio

Open Radio is an internet-based radio streaming application that lets you listen to radio stations from around the world on your:
- mobile device running Jelly Bean (4.2.x) or newer;
- Android Automotive OS (https://developers.google.com/cars/design/automotive-os);
- Android Auto (http://android.com/auto);
- Android TV (with limited support) (https://www.android.com/tv).

Open Radio is an ad-free app, but some radio stations may include advertisements in their streams, which the app cannot control.

If you want to add a radio station to Open Radio, you can do so via:
- Radio Browser (https://www.radio-browser.info/add);
- Web Radio (https://jcorporation.github.io/webradiodb).

It's important to note that:
- Open Radio is a community-driven effort, and the databases used by the app are free and open to everyone;
- Me and the database owners are not responsible for the content of the radio stations;
- The databases are community-driven, which means anyone can contribute to them, and everyone is encouraged to respect the work put in by the app creator and the database owners.

To exit Open Radio, you can simply press the Back button until you leave the app.

Fantastic app. Buffers very quickly, starts playing faster than any radio app I've tried so far, very simple interface but still manages to have everything you need and most things that other apps have. Really good radio app. Won't ever need to look elsewhere now. This is a keeper. Highly recommended!

Wonderful app. Using on phone to chromecast speakers. Unfortunately, it loses the connection to the speakers after 30 - 40 minutes. Hopefully, developer will be able to fix this in future. ----- Thanks for the reply. Hey, even Spotify has buggy chromecast implementation, and let's not talk about the pitiful interface of Google Home. Your app is great. Big thank you. 👍🏼 For those who might be misled by silly reviewers: This app is free of adds, and there are wonderful ad-free radio streams out there - to name but a few: FIP, Radio Paradise, SuperStereo, Fréquence 3 (many with lossless streams). Best internet radio app available so far on the Polestar, but some important issues are letting down the user experience: 1 - You can only browse through countries when you install the app. This option is gone afterwards, which seems more like a bug 2 - The country listings seem to have a limitation on how many stations are listed. This means that you sometimes cannot choose the station you want (try getting to "W" in UK) 3 - Please introduce search! It would make it so much easier...

Simple interface, works great on android TV (NVidia Shield TV), provides information on stream quality which I've not found on other radio interfaces I tried so far, it is easy to add favorites stations and it eve provides an audio equalizer!. If possible, I'd like to recommend to develop a sort of screen saver function to protect LED TVs and use more the art library that some stations provide (e.g. snapshot of the album that is playing).

Hello. It is a very good application that can install all the frequencies manually and more importantly, it has no ads. If you modify the sleep timer as a graph and countdown, it will be much easier and better. The way you set the time is very difficult and sometimes it doesn't work. Thankful

I tried lots of radio streaming apps for Google TV. All had issues such as stopping after a few mins, favourite stations not all accessable via their quick change memu, or in my case having only one stream of a station available when several different local feeds were available. (Just luck if you got your cities local feed!) This app solves all those issues, and even better, you can input your own stream, meaning you are not limited to just radio stations only. For me, it's just perfect.

Finally! An app that I can add radio stations too on Android TV! I love it! Also the ability to download the favorites and import them on my phone is amazing. Only downside is it won't keep the order I put them in and I can't arrange the favorites on my phone app. If that would be fixed this would be the best app ever for radio.

Open Radio was IMHO the best free radio out there. It's simple interface, large database of stations, ease of use and NO adverts makes it the best. The developer is highly proactive in providing feedback and implementing suggestions which as his hobby is carried out when time permits. However, I've noticed with the latest update Open Radio stops working, it won't clear from memory every time and restarts 5 or 10 sec later, it's just getting more frustrating to use with every day, unfortunately.

This is a top radio app (and I have tested many) for playing content from all over the world. Thanks and congratulations to the developer. I would enjoy an inbuilt slide show so that on my Android TV I would not need to run a separate slideshow. The ability to add a background slide would also be nice. Last, an option to move favourites in the list or bring the most used to the top. Kindest regards, Rob.

On my Chromecast Android TV 10: 1. Always stops when playing. Usually after 40-60 minutes. No timer is on. 2. When I'm trying to navigate, the choosen option is completely invisible. The level contrast of marked or not marked item is too low. . EDIT: The application is mainly for mobile, where it works without problems. Google TV or Chromecast - for a little improvement .

Great radio app that does exactly what a radio app should, play radio stations reliably and well without a lot of unnecessary bloat. The absence of advertising is another huge plus. Although the interface is pretty basic it gets the job done, and when favourite radio stations are selected and stored in the favourites section it is quick and easy to find them. I've noticed it is no longer possible to sort favourite stations (by long pressing on them) but that's a minor issue. Five stars!

It works and has no ads. I love ad-free apps. This is a service to the worldwide community. Thanks to the developer! ❤️ Edit: it stopped working. It plays the last station I had playing, but it cannot find any new stations. Nothing happens when I search for any keyword. This happened on multiple devices. Edit: thanks for your quick response: uninstalling and reinstalling did the trick! 💰 ...yet it still is dead upon re-installation on my Nexus 7 with Android 6.01 ... 🙁

good app but favorites export to a file is needed to be able to share with other people. Backup to google drive is not useful as it stores favorites somewhere in hidden storage...
