Sound quality is great, but the app and software are infuriating. I can't play all the music and podcasts from my phone unless it's an app that is supported. It also won't continue playing if my phone screen is off. Without Bluetooth support, this speaker is practically useless to me. EDIT: Removing the ability to play music directly from my phone has made this speaker completely obsolete. Will not be returning to this company.

The whole Sonos system idea is great but I can never get all the speakers to play consistently with out at least 2 or 3 cutting in and out and it's very frustrating. I have 7 Sonos setups downstairs, one in each room and it never fails that some of them are always cutting in and out. It's rare that all of them will stay on together let alone when I turn up the volume.

The app is frustrating! It randomly stops playing music or skips ahead songs when listening to my playlist. It is disappointing that this is the only way to use the speakers, because I love the sound, but had I known the app was going to be so glitchy I would not have bought them. Update: I have already felt extremely frustrated with this app, but now I no longer have the ability to play music saved on my device, which is what I listen to more than anything. So disappointing!

Sonos recently removed the ability to play music stored on your own device from the app. I have a huge section of music downloaded, so I don't pay for streaming services. Sonos devices are also not Bluetooth compatible out of the box. So why remove this useful functionality from the app you might ask? Well, you can still stream music files, but you need to buy roam speakers ($200 purchase) to do so. Make the app less functional, then sell an overpriced solution. Scummy behavior Sonos.

DO NOT UPDATE!!! Sonos makes its user's life miserable. It won't allow playing music from our local device: I'm forced to ALWAYS have my computer on!!!! How is that intuitive or helpful? Tech support is likewise a waste of time since they'll hang up after you spend a lot of time waiting and troubleshooting on non-relevant issues. Userer-friendly? NO!!! Backwards? YES!! While other companies respond to complaints, Sonos never will. An expensive system with cheap service. Plus, more ads on app.

Doesn't work well with Android. No cast option. You're forced to use their terrible app to play music instead of directly casting from better apps. Can't streaming directly from other apps like YouTube. The app is so terrible, all the developers need to be fired. Expensive devices, terrible software. Can't play artist radio or playlists well because you'll end up with a bad mix of songs. Not integrated with other apps and they are promoting their own music service over others. Unbelievable!

The mobile app doesn't resolve IP addresses well and is essentially useless. However, I am able to use the PC app just fine. I'm uninstalling the mobile app. Maybe someday I'll reserve an IP address for Sonos use to eliminate the problems I get when a storm knocks out my internet or something. For now, I'm just going to stick with using either the PC app or Sonostube (not the same functionality). Edit: I believe my VPN was interfering with the discovery process. I should be able to run again.

The speaker itself puts out great quality sound. We loved Sonos... when it worked. But the app has been buggy and troublesome all along, and with the recent update in July we haven't been able to use the speaker at all since, either wired or wireless. The in-app troubleshooting is unhelpful and takes you in circles, to "try again later".

When it works, it's magical. But there are enough glitches that I'm worried Sonos is heading down the same path as the big tech companies -- outsourcing development and losing focus on their product roadmap. For example, when setting up services, I reliably get an unhelpful error. But if I wait just long enough but not too long between step 4 and 5 before it works fine. I really hope it's not headed downhill because it's amazing having music Just Work, or syncing TV sound to the kitchen.

The app is HORRIBLE!! It rarely works as it should, it's very glitchy, speakers will unconnect for no reason, restarting the system often doesn't help! I've been embarrassed by the system in front of guests cause the system will just stop responding while in the middle of playing! I've spent thousands on their products but the app that controls everything is a joke! And it doesn't appear that anything's being done to fix the problems! I may go back to Bose.

8.14.23 update: The issues continue. After an app update 8 months ago, Spotify stops playback when it goes to an ad break. Every time. Sonos says it's a known issue with their system, but they don't care enough to fix it. Frequently experience issues with app & system. Hard to exit once you have bought into their ecosystem. If you haven't already taken the plunge, think twice... it's wonderful when it works, but maddening and simply not worth the premium for the amount of times it doesn't work.

Sonos....$#*!+& you suck! We have invested in a lot of Sonos over the years. It has never ever worked consistently. I have my router rebooting every night. My network is run like a ship. Everything works perfect... Except Sonos. Slow to connect...doesn't connect. Or just cuts out all the time while playing music. 😔

For the cost of Sonos equipment I'd expect the WiFi connection to be stable. Will play with no problems, then it can't find the network. Reset everything, works fine for a few days, then it can't find the network. Strong signal throughout the house. Nothing else can't find the network.

Whoever designed the app should be put in jail. After several years it's probably only gotten worse. For the price of the hardware this is criminal. Chromecast is being built into some very nice speakers now. I would stay away from Sonos for anyone thinking about it. I'm about to cut my losses and move on.

Honestly I've never had a good experience. You never know if the speakers are going to show up, constantly have to force stop the app or unplug and plug your speakers back in hoping they'll show up. I love the speakers so it's a real bummer there's very little consistency in the app.

I have used Sonos for many years, and have four speakers covering my entire house. When I bought in to the system I coyld play music that was stored on my phone, some of which is not available on streaming services, and Sonos randomly decided to remove that feature in May 2023 without warning. I am annoyed that the company did that without getting feedback from customers who have already spent thousands of dollars on their speakers!

The hardware is great. Not having to tie your phone up to keep the music playing and being able to modify the playing queue is great. The S1 version of the software was much better than the S2 version. Immediate connection and refresh difficulties after upgrade and NO useful new features. Love the S1 version and regret upgrading.

This app has absolutely sucked since I got my Sonos speaker a few years ago. It has a full-time job to get speakers activated and paired with your network. Adding services constantly throws errors and it will randomly disconnect speakers from your account. It's a mess and Sonos can do better. Outstanding hardware, horrible app and software.
