This app is a data hog. I have turned off all background data options within the app and I've changed my phone settings to not allow it to use mobile data, but it constantly has ads running on the screen while I listen to downloaded episodes, which I believe to be the culprit for the data usage. As far as functionality, I enjoy the app. It can automatically download new episodes of my subscribed to podcasts, & intuitively deletes them when finished. Great if you have an unlimited data plan.

It functions and navigates pretty well. Many times, however, it takes forever to load episode descriptions and that can be very frustrating. It doesn't sync well between devices, which means I have to manually keep track of which episodes I've listened to to stay up to date on both of my devices. Often, the app will not keep track of specific episodes being played from one device to another. a few times, I've had it not recognize that I subscribed or unsubscribed from a podcast between them.

I'll change the review when it starts working. I downloaded a bunch of stuff I really want to listen to, but when I try to play any of it, nothing happens. It just repeatedly goes from pause to play, and right back to pause without ever playing. Super frustrating! ---. A developer from sent me a message to contact them through the app. I opened it, and it worked! I even turned off wifi and data, and tried a different podcast. So, now I can give a normal review. Im just out of space now...

Great selection. User friendly and intuitive. Rarely but every now and then a podcast will stop playing in the middle of an episode and will resort to an endless loading circle. No matter what I do I can't get past that point in the episode until several days later, for some unknown reason, it will just all of a sudden play past that point in the episode. Again, it doesn't happen often, just every once in awhile. Update: I have no longer experienced any playing errors in a while. It seems to have fixed itself or been updated.

Almost perfect. The things I had a major issue with is the fact that even when you close the app, the audio continues to play. When you turn on your phone to the lock screen and try to pause the podcast, it won't pause. It pops up with an error which doesn't even tell you what the error is. When the video ad runs, it doesn't pop up on its own, it plays over the audio of the podcast and makes the audio skip including when you lock your phone. That is why I uninstalled this app.

this app was great for a little while. Great sound quality, good controls, and relatively easy to learn how to use the features. However the app started to not work correctly. Anytime the app is playing and the screen of my phone is not actively on, the app would stop. Turn the screen back on or unlock the phone and it would instantly start playing again with no further input. Wasn't able to figure it out so I eventually had to uninstall. Hopefully this gets resolved. Was great initially.

I have a few issues with Castbox. 1) figuring out how to work the "playlist" vs the "up next" list is very difficult. I'm young and addicted to my phone, I shouldn't have this much trouble. 2) about 50% of the time I take my headphones out, my podcast will keep playing through my phone speakers. No fun at work, especially if I'm listening to something crass. 3) the Castbox notification bar sometimes chooses not to exist. This, when combined with the above issue, can lead to fun times.

First, I like to be able to see only my unplayed episodes, to make it easy to find the next one to play. Castbox does this, except when there's an update - you lose that benefit. It wouldn't too bad if you could select a bunch to 'mark as played', but you can't - you have to select each one ( I'm into podcasts with hundreds). Second, I chose to ad version. I'm not against ads, but recently they have started putting full-page ads up where the close button is hard to find. Imagine driving down th

Stuff to like, stuff to improve. I like the continuous playback (wish for an off/on option). The playlist feature doesn't make sense to me for podcast format; I'd rather have the ability to queue items. It's a decent app, but it frustrates me. If it is paused or stopped, it has a startling and semi-consistent habit of turning itself back on after a seemingly random amount of time. Occasionally it just skips around or ends the podcast abruptly, advancing to the next episode. The free version ads are annoying, obtrusive and frequent. If things were improved, I would consider paying for a one-time purchase, but I could never consider a recurring fee for it as a service.

I gave this app the 'ol college try. First the positive. The playlists are nice and the search functions work well. That's where it ends. First major complaint is that there is no "now playing" feature. To get to the now playing button to pause, play, skip, rewind, etc, you have to go into your downloads, find the episode you are listening to and then click on it to see it's current status. Next complaint, there are very few universal settings. You can set things like "delete listened episodes," but if you want to keep more than one episode of a show you have to go through the settings of each subscription. As someone who listens to many shows and likes to bing a few episodes at a time when I'm in the mood for that type of show this is incredibly frustrating. Lots of other little complaints like you can't prioritize the download queue and such. Finally, the functions just don't work well. I've had to exit the app and restart it just to get basic functionality back, like pausing the download queue.

The amount of shows available is absoutely wonderful! Having said that, the app can be difficult to navigate and is impossible to use if you have a slow data connection. Like many people, my data speed is throttled after so much data is used. Spotify runs fine. But Castbox can't play an episode for more than 5 seconds on a slow connection. What a joke.

App does not advance automatically to the next episode in a playlist, or delete played episode, even though I have specified that in Settings. Instead it replays the current episode with no sound! Tried to notify tech support, even sent them a video to demonstrate, but no response. Two months later, Castbox still doesn't work properly. Otherwise, the app is well designed and has a great library. I put a lot of work into choosing subscriptions and my playlist, so I am reluctant to quit it. At the same time, it is very annoying to have to manually advance to the next episode in a playlist. Perhaps this is specific to my platform (Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini), but still this seems like a fixable problem. I didn't appreciate the complete abandonment by tech support and failure to respond to follow-up messages after I went to the trouble to make a video documenting the problem.

I am ambivalent on this app. I have used many different podcast apps and feel that I know what I am looking for. From a podcast management standpoint, this is one of the best apps I have used. Podcasts are easy to find and subscription management is intuitive and simple. The interface, whether on mobile or the web, works fine (although the web interface has some annoyances). Now for my two main issues: 1. The app does not seem to play nice with Bluetooth connections. It has been my experience that audio apps will stop when a Bluetooth device is disconnected. Castbox does this (both when I leave my car and when I turn off headphones) but restarts shortly after. Many times I do not realize this until later, and I lose my place in the pod. To be fair, this may be my phone, but I never really found the issue happening before I started using Castbox. My second issue is the ridiculous notifications. I realize I can turn them off (and will) but don't send me a notification saying "Long time no see" when I literally use your app daily. I don't mind the occasional notification to check out a new pod, but trying to be cute and failing is annoying.

+2⭐: I should've updated this *months* ago, but they've fixed the high RAM issue and now Castbox runs like a champ! (Cons) Playlist mgmt needs *a lot* of work: You can't duplicate playlists, copy episodes from one to another, or even rename them. There's also no convenient way to delete multiple episodes without deleting All or selecting them one-by-one; 2) I can't understand why there's still no Previous button for the notification drawer controls. I shouldn't need to open the app to relisten.

I've used this app for several years, but recently it has been so glitchy and unreliable that I feel I have to switch to a different service. Audio skips around, often to the point where I'm unable to listen to a complete episode. More recently it has begun having a glitch where it stops playing and soft-closes the app mid-episode. The final straw for me today was discovering that an entire episode of a podcast had glitched and duplicated the audio from the previous episode. No more!

I used this app for a few years now and have been very happy with it until recently when I checked out ZEN mode and quickly realized it wasn't for me. Well now I can't turn off so every time my bluetooth connects to a device zen start playing instead of the last episode I was listening to like in the past. Hopefully they will add a way to turn it off until then I will deal with it because like I said Castbox is a great app. Thanks! Update: Castbox had a fix for my issue within 24hrs love it!

Am I going to pay for another year of Castbox? It’s a great app, but it keeps quitting on me. It quits while I’m listening on a bluetooth speaker in the shower. Or, it quits in the middle of a two hour drive. A big inconvenience. Not easy to restart in either situation. This happens multiple times a day. Not just while driving or showering. The problem has extended across multiple phones, so I think Castbox is the problem. Anybody else have this experience? Solutions?

This app has my podcasts and plays them well. Unfortunately, even after the app has been closed, it will randomly start playing. There's only one real thing wrong with it, but it's really inconvenient to be at work, and randomly, a podcast starts playing from your purse when you haven't opened the app in a few days!
