This app on mobile devices is egregious. At times it simply refuses to buffer more than 10 seconds before you are forced to manually close and reopen the app. There have been instances where I've had to close and reopen it 30+ times in a single episode. The dev team cares none to little about performance on mobile. As much revenue as Funimation generates, one would think they could have a video player that functions at least half the time.

I would give it half a star, but I can't. It was one of the best apps I had, but ever since they merged with crunchyroll, it seems they are not putting in as much effort to funimation as they once were. It keeps freezing, not loading, and the customer service is not very good. It just suck's because they could be earning more money if they put more effort into both apps.

It's trash, but if you want to stay up to date, you have to have it. Every time I leave and the screen to text or check something and come back, the app freezes and doesn't respond. I always have to hard reset it. Same thing. If I try to skip a part or intro, it just freezes, and I have to reset the app. This is pathetic.

I love watching the shows but I hate that it freezes a LOT! Half the time I'm waiting on it to load, doesn't matter if I'm on wifi or using my phone data on 5g network or using my Fire TV. I should not have to pay for an app that I can't watch due to constant freezing and loading. Sooooo Frustrating! I contacted customer support they said they'd look into it haven't gotten an email back in 5 days. I want a refund for this month as that's how long I've not been able to watch. Fix and I will redo

The app takes a long time to load, doesn't have a skip intro button, half the time it doesn't save where I left off in a show, and in general has a lot worse buffering speed and fewer features than comparable apps. I understand that FUNimation is switching over to Crunchyroll and will phase out, I guess they're just not investing any more in this app.

It's an ok app.. I have it on my phone and TV.. it glitches pretty bad. I was watching a show on my tv, and half way through it stopped, then we had to close out of it, turn the TV off and then back on, then when we tried watching it again it was subbed and in japanese only? On my phone too. It doesn't make sense. We started out watching it dubbed in english, then it just stopped and now we can't finish the episode dubbed in English? Any ways. It does just stop randomly ALOT!!

I thought this would be a good app to try but... it takes 2 hrs to watch a 30 minute episode. Constantly having to restart the app and the first thing I see is unable to connect. Video will sit for a good 5 minutes before it'll try to play AND then it's 3 ads back to back even tho I have a premium subscription. Dub doesn't work for most episodes and captions lag like crazy. Such a waste. Im canceling and uninstalling.

This app is complete junk if you use it on a phone, regardless of connection type or phone make. And it's consistent across multiple customers and phones as you can see by the reviews. The ONLY reason I gave it the 2nd star, is because it actually does an alright job on my XBOX ONE. But THATS the ONLY medium that works with this app with few glitches and CONSTANT freezes, skips, and crashes.

Every single time I load into this app it is constantly buffering. I have to back out over and over and over to refresh it because it will never stop buffering. Eventually it will finally play the show, but it is very annoying to deal with. And it is not my connection because everything else on my phone works great but every time I wanna watch funimation it will not load for minutes of refreshing. Also it was very difficult to cancel my subscription which led to a couple months unwanted payments

This app works for me about 30-40% of the time. The problem with it is that the videos don't load in a reasonable amount of time... if at all. I would blame my device and/or my internet connection, but I don't have issues when I stream on the browser instead. It also works fine on the TV app and on desktop.

Honestly this app is super buggy. If I pause it and navigate away to do something else and come back to it, it never will play again. I have to close the app open it back up and then sometimes it will play the episode. Occasionally I have to close and open and try to play an episode three times before it plays. Sometimes it will randomly skip to the next episode of the show I am watching during this whole process of trying to get it to play.

To be clear the choice of content is good and the app's user interface is fine and easy enough to use. Unfortunately none of that matters if the app freezes every other minute. I cannot watch a single episode uninterrupted even on a stable Wi-Fi Network. Heaven help you if you're on-the-go you will not be able to watch a single episode without having to go in and out five times to keep it going. If you can find your show on any other service use it instead.

Used to be my favorite app. Ever since the Crunchyroll merger it barely works. Stops working on Google TV after a few episodes. Constant connection problems on my other devices, despite a strong wifi signal. Crunchyroll won't just shut it down. They want people to move over to their app that costs more first. This is rapidly becoming abandonware.

This app is so frustrating. Why will it only play 14 seconds of a video? You have to kill the app, reopen it, go through the menu, find the episode you're on, and attempt to replay it 50 million times before it'll actually play. This is ridiculous 😒 some videos will not play at all. And don't say it's my internet connection. It's not. The issue is absolutely on your end. Fix it.

The amount of commercials is sickening. I understand the need to make money, but it really has gotten to the point that the customer is absolutely irrelevant to the equation. Especially when you consider how completely unstable the app is. It forces you to watch 5-6 commercials in a row... then freezes magically AFTER the last commercial causing you to back out. And when you replay... you guessed it. Every commercial repeats. Funimation should be ashamed. Another medium destroyed by greed.

I download the app and decide to try the premium option for $7.99 with a 14 day free trial. The free trial was skipped and I was charged around $8.50. Also, after I was charged, the ad free part of the subscription I bought doesn't work. It pisses me off and I want my money back. One of the worst streaming apps I've used. I'm gonna go back to Hulu for me anime.

The ads are EXTREME. I don't mean like they pop up every now and then. EVERY TIME you open literally anything you get a 30 second unskippable ad. Changed the language of your video? Ad. Exited out because it was lagging? Ad. Not only do they have the annoying unskippable ads every time you open a video, there are like 4 ad breaks in a 20 minute video. 2-4 unskippable 30 second ads every single time. Before they respond with something like "buy premium" then maybe they shouldn't spike the prices.

This app is glitchy The ads repeat over and over and over sometimes you will get less than 1 second between ads. Even when I bought premium the shows would jump strangely between episodes. Sometimes it refuses to change languages. For $10/ month this app needs a ton of work. It's even worse if you're unfortunate enough to try and use it on a smart TV.
