Description of Nintendo Switch Online

The Nintendo Switch Online app enhances your online gameplay experience on your Nintendo Switch™ system. With this app, you can access game-specific services, view your online friends, and use voice chat during online play—all of which allow you to get even more out of online play.

Note: A Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately) is required to use certain features of this app.

◆ View your online friends
You can see which of your friends are online from your smartphone—and which games they're playing. You can even send friend requests right from the app!

Note: Some friend features, like adding friends, can only be accessed from a Nintendo Switch system.

◆ Use voice chat during online play
From this app, you can join in on voice chat while playing supported software online. By using the app, your voice-chat status will be automatically synced with the game status—and in games that support team battles, like Splatoon 3, you can choose to chat with just the players who are on your team.

Can't hide services (eg. for games you don't own). Not able to redeem points for rewards in this app or customize your profile icon. Cannot message friends both in (as alternative to voice chat) and out of game. No support for game notifciations (eg. stage/rotation updates), download status, or to view patch notes. Can't see hours spent on games. Not able to export replays (eg. if you want to keep post-update). It's handy, but pretty barebones.

It has signed me out forcefully and is not letting me sign back in. I am trying to connect my account, but it refuses to do anything after clicking the button multiple times. That app before works fine, but I've been signed out for about 2 weeks now and still no luck. Hope this can be fixed.

Animal crossing content STILL isn't working. If I reinstall the app it works briefly, then breaks again. Sits at the spinning dots loading screen forever. Y old Samsung S8 seems to work fine but I'm not booting an old phone everytime I want to use this app. DO BETTER!

I use this almost everyday, it's really helpful if I'm playing Splatoon. I don't use any other games, nor have friends on them. But If I'm bored, I'll join a private match and vc with my friends! It's a great way to communicate with your teammates. Ex: you get killed and you wanna tell them to avoid that area. Which is super helpful. Vc also works for animal crossing, super smash bros, etc. Though, I kind of wish there was a chat box feature! But I do suggest getting if you wanna vc!!

After some Updates and a time of waiting the Qr Code reader for the Animal crossing new Leaf Designs is finally doing his job. It reads every Code perfect. Now this is a good App ty for Fixing this.

I only really use this app for splatoon but it really good at its job. For splatoon, it shows what the new maps are and rotations without opening splatoon on the switch. Really handy

Great app!! Only thing is that I wish there was a widget for the Splatoon 3 app to check your catalog level from the home screen like you can for map and mode rotations!

The voice chat is horrible. First you have to xhoose from talking with your friends or hearing the game. Second you have to carry another device if you do want to talk. You can no longer here through the loud speakers on the phone. Instead you have to hold it up to your ear now like you are talking on a phone and hear it through that ear piece now.

App keeps loading so I can't use it at all. It's up to date and so is my phone, my internet connection is also good (I tested it and also on different networks). Please help still happening

Got this for the extra animal crossing items but other than that it's useless to me. If u like to chat with friends while playing, I've heard it's good but not as efficient as discord. Does it have many features at all

Nintendo, I am rating your company as a whole. Your games are top quality. I especially love totk. However, games with tine-limited events like Splatoon 3 and switch sports are terrible! Animal crossing new horizons is good because the events repeat yearly, every year! Now please just stop doing time-limited events! I don't care about buying digital games, as long as backwards compatibility is available! I just want more good games that don't have events! P.s: looking forward to Mario wonder.

I downloaded on my phone and I still could not get voice chat to work. Why are you so difficult compared to other systems that cost just as much? I can at least download movie platforms like Netflix, prime, etc. on the other systems. I would love to be able to use this system to communicate with my children like I can on the other systems.

This app is worthless for most people. No messaging. No eShop. I cannot even see some gaming stats, like hours played on a game. The Switch is great on its own. This app does not enhance the Switch experience. The PS app is a much better mobile app. The only games that benefit are Splatoon, super smash Bros, and animal Crossing.

Quite good for 'enhancing your experience' in 4 games (Animal Crossing, Splatoon 2+3 and Super Smash bros). The functions in AC's Nooklink is useful and cute as a bonus, and Splatnet 3 is very useful for buying gear, seeing battle info and more. There was a BIG missed opportunity to add it for other games like mainline Pokémon (like Sword/Shield, Scarlet/Violet), maybe Mario Kart and some other games as well. Otherwise, this is great!

The app is fine, helpful and all, but there is one huge issue which really bothers me. In the splatfest section of splatnet 3, it currently shows that I have voted ( for example ) team 1, while I actually voted team 3. I've seen other people complain about that too, and I don't know how to fix it. Please get back to me soon, thanks

I wish this app offered more in functionality. I also assume the decision to use voice chat with the app instead of the Switch was a way to save battery life, but it still makes things awkward. It just seems like this app was an afterthought. The dedicated game sections are neat, I suppose, but they need to support more of them, like Super Mario Maker 2. It has potential, just poor execution.

To say the least, it's worked for me. It can be slow and not all too fun to use, but for simple things, it does the job. Not many people use voice chat because it feels so tedious for reasons already mentioned, but the few times you meet people in a public match of Mario Kart, it can be enjoyable. The Animal Crossing portion of the app is what most people are using this for, and while I haven't used it much, the QR Scanner and Chat worked fine. Worth a shot, but not required for Switch users.
