DEACTIVATED ACCOUNT
A lot of the more intuitive features are locked behind a paywall, as well as actually helping real forests, which was the main appeal for me. The basic version gives you some cute trees, basic analytics and white noise options, and it works pretty well to keep you from looking at your phone and guiding you back to the app. It's a fine app if you're looking for a basic focus timer.

I loved this app and it really helped me but there is now a problem with the notification when the time is up. THERE IS NO SOUND! This creates a big problem for me especially since I have ADHD. I can hyperfocus on a project and never notice until an hour after. I tried all day going through my settings and nothing works! I cannot get a sound to notify me that my time is up and as someone who bought into this app, its extremely frustrating. If this does not get resolved, Ill have to uninstall

I really love this app! It's very cute and simple and let's me stay focused while I study. However, the one thing I really don't like about it is that, while it let's me open certain apps, I can't choose what apps I want to be allowed to open or not. For example, I listen to Spotify while I study because music helps me focus. But I can't open Spotify, even though I can open apps like Google play or SMS or whatever. If the developers would allow either Spotify to be in use while I use the app or if we can choose what apps to block, it would be greatly appreciated by me!

Everytime my phone auto shuts off and I get a notification, it kills the tree. It's annoying. I like the concept but I cant stand that I have to reset the timer everytime. Including the fact that I'll watch an ad so it doesnt kill the tree and after those 10 secs, the tree is still dead. Plus, I have to watch another ad to reset the timer.

Staying focus is a decision. I work hard and want to be 100% productive. But, when things are extra hard, it's easier to get busy. I found this app in the book Indistractable by Nir Eyal. I was skeptical but the more I use it, the more I find it useful. The hidden idea that I'm planting trees while doing the hardest work, its becoming unexpectedly motivating. The app is always giving you nuggets of encouragement to stay on task. I would add some motivational quotes.

I really enjoy using this app. Not only is it user friendly, the creative types of plants you can unlock add another incentive to being productive. it's quite effective. my only real issues with the app is that 1) the prices go up as you unlock more things, and 2) the trees and bushes cost the same amount to unlock but do not give you the same amount of coins in return. Trees and bushes should obviously be differently priced.

-1 It's messed up that we have to buy the app again if we switch from iphone to Android and vice-versa. Especially since after I purchase the app, you can just sync the previous account. If you can sync the previous account anyway, why not just do that from the start instead of making us pay for it twice? It's upsetting. However, I do love the concept of the app, so it still gets a 4. I hope others are aware, though, before they make the purchase.

I've set the app to not treat notifications as a disruption, and it still does. I respond to the warning that I need to "return to Forest as soon as possible or the tree will wither," it looks like it's going fine, and suddenly a minute later I have a withered tree. A bit of a slap in the face to be going along for 55 minutes and have something wither on me in the last 5 minutes of a decent run. Where are the instructions on how exactly the notification disruption setting works? What's there right now is vague, unhelpful, and flat out doesn't work. It's a waste of money and a giant irritation if they can't get this to ignore certain apps properly. I'm ignoring my notifications to let the app continue running, and then I'm being punished. Very frustrating.

A really cute little app that really helps keep me off of the stuff that distracts me the most. I'm not sure if it's accessible in the standard version, but I love being able to choose which apps are still okay for me to navigate to, like texting apps. And I like being able to change that when I need to (in between times of planting trees, not during the planting). Highly recommend if you're like me and tend to dissociate into your phone for hours when you have stuff to do.

I like this app for holding me accountable when I'm trying to unplug and focus. It can even guide you back to the app when you try and wander to a distracting app. I really don't buy Pro versions of things, but honestly I think it's worth it. It's such a handy tool, and there are options to grow real trees just by focusing with the pro version, as well as more trees to plant! Very cute. I'm also trying out their "WaterDo" To-Do App, which is also handy and cute. 10/10 useful and fun challenge!

The idea is great. I've used it many times to stay focused and stay on task. I enjoy the fact that you can write lil bios of on your trees. However, the app would be tremendously more useful if I were able to restrict certain apps for a period of time rather than not using my phone at all. I still want to use certain apps, like music and reading apps, rather than not having access to my phone at all.

It's not very different from a timer but it does let you keep track of progress in different areas if you use all the features like tags or different trees. Side note the alarm only works if you are not in "deep focus". I do think it helps me focus when I pick my phone up and those reminders pop up, like a good accountability-buddy.

This is a good app and I've been using it without problem for a couple of months. However, like it's been stated in recent reviews, since the last update, the trees are not dying when you use other apps and no notification appears to remind you that the trees are still growing. The problem seems to be with the Whitelist feature. When I turn Whitelist off, the app works perfectly, but with Whitelist on, I can access apps that are not on the Whitelist. Hope the team fixes this. Thanks.

Love the app, hate the system. Purchased the Pro version and loved it! It is a very effective app and was working perfectly fine on my old phone. I got a new phone and was hoping I would be able to sync my progress seamless through the cloud, but the restore was unsuccessful. Contacted support and they told me my Google Play was defective, and after troubleshooting I was still unable to sync my progress to the new phone. Was forced to purchase Pro again in order to login and sync.

Regret purchasing premium... Most of the time, my phone usage doesn't record even though I keep it running in the background. Other times it will say I have been on my phone ALL DAY, when I haven't. It doesn't record how many times I pick up the phone. The only thing that works on my premium app version are the free features. I've had this app for about two weeks after purchase. At this point, I wish the developers would just give me a refund.

UPDATE: changed to 5 stars due to the price changes in the store. The pop up ads are still a little annoying but it's still not too much of q problem. I love the variety in plants you can buy! It's a really cute app. Occasionally an ad would pop up outta nowhere but it's not too much of a problem. I think it'd be nice for the bushes to cost lower than the trees, due to them not needing as much time off to grow, but that's just my opinion. 😊

I really like this all. It let's you quantify your focused time, and theres something so rewarding about it. Not only that, but the aesthetic of having a "digital" forest is simply beautiful. I may even consider getting the premium version. At least for me, a timer is not enough when I do homework; I need to see something that tracks my progress in a more creative way, and this is exactly it.

The concept is great and would work to keep me focused. I uninstalled it after reading the privacy agreement and felt uncomfortable with the depth of tracking for advertising and things like accessing contacts but I don't think Forest is unusual in this. I would love and pay for a simplified version that lives on my phone, has a greater focus on privacy and security, and tracks only whether an app is being used, not what I'm doing on it.
