The voice recognition seems to work when it wants to. Might be tied to the security updates for Android. One week I was able to set reminders without unlocking my phone which was great, then it stopped working. The settings in the options don't change so I never know when a feature stops working. Annoying as hell. I might need to make a call, or get some quick directions but I can't unlock while driving, so really sucks when it stops working.

Really enjoy the Google Assistant, and it has become integral for work and home. After about two years, the Google Assistant stopped responding to voice, which was frustrating. I tried looking up the issue and tried many different suggestions at a solution. When I had exhausted all options, I came to the conclusion that it was probably my phone and not necessarily the app. This was to expected as malicious software is bound to get through. Did a factory reset and Google works fine now.

Used to be able to easily and reliably wake my s7 with my voice, locked or not. Phone used to know when I was driving, and would announce calls and texts automatically. Been about 4 months now. None of that works anymore, no matter how I setup permissions, train and retrain, etc. It's actually gotten dangerous having to fiddle around with this instead of just talking to it while driving. So I don't rely on it anymore. Was very helpful and safe while it lasted.

I really like the app when it works. it seems the more I've been using it the stupider it gets. I changed the voice from female to male and it can't remember which one it's supposed to use it switches back and forth in a conversation. It is also having trouble understanding commands, and often times it will start to send and text for me and then not registered what I want to send and delete the whole thing. so frustrating! please fix these glitches!

One of the most promising,and most frustrating and unreliable apps in history, combining a never-quite-finished interface, that magically does not work when you most need it to. I have seen hundreds of other complaints like mine, but for the record here is mine. 1: stops responding randomly, requiring a restart of the phone, gboard (another app, I know) will only let me dictate a few sentences using voice before stopping forcing me to type in text, NOTE: just like the voice text dictation, stopping after a few sentences, the app stops the same way, leading me to believe that there is some limit to how much data they will process before stopping, or that the problem is somehow accumulative. This would be the greatest app if it only worked reliably.

It had to start with the last update, but the app doesn't open at all, not even from the play store open button... It does respond to me, no problem with voice recognition, but I have to navigate all over just to to adjust settings now. Am I doing something wrong or misunderstanding the intention of having the Google Assistant app installed on the phone? (BTW, installed the snapshot shortcut on the home screen, and it operates fine.) Little help here, please... Thanks for your time and efforts!

Voice recognition is very inconsistent. It's either too sensitive and opens no matter what you say or do, or you're shouting at it with no response. I've retrained it twice and had wildly different results (see above). Would prefer if I could control the sensitivity somehow. Also, it records everything I say to it, but Assistant still gets my notes and reminders wrong. It never opens my morning routine no matter how many times I attempt to trigger it. In short, not great for hands free.

Somehow Google assistant keeps getting worse and worse. It can't answer questions it used to have no problem with, it sends you a list of search results instead of answering basic questions, it's suddenly very particular about the exact wording of your questions with no ability to respond how it used to, and they've completely eliminated 3rd party integrations. You're SOL if you bought the speakers, they're paperweights now. Congrats on the incompetence Google!

Used to be great but with each update this app has steadily gone downhill. Works sporadically or not at all. I ask it to play ambient sounds on the bedroom speaker and the app crashes every time. Used to work flawlessly. This is one of many features that no long functions as before. This seems to be a trend for Google lately.

All in all I like the app and it's amount of settings, features and how much that can be done with the information it provides. The problems I have are. When opening the app with the icon it works except trying to get into settings from 3 lines menu. It just keeps circling. The only way to get into settings is by using "hey Google" "open assistant settings". The other issue is when adding family into "your people" it will add duplicates and triplicates.

Excellent at some things - googling, sending messages, and playing music. Terrible at others - changing pronunciation, punctuating messages, and opening apps. The pronunciation of my contacts is my biggest annoyance. I went through and updated a pronunciation and my assistant continues to pronounce it wrong. Maybe it's just a delay? But it's 2023 and I don't want to have to switch back to Apple. Please fix Google apps' delays. It's really annoying.

Assistant is handy and fantastic. But I've tried every trick I can find online, and still can't hear the Assistant's voice on my new Pixel 7 Pro. I should be hearing it confirm, for example, that it's just set an alarm for 7 AM. It works ... it sets the requested alarm ...but it's silent. I want to hear the voice!

Assistant does not work automatically (by voice command) after using Android Auto in vehicle (both wired and Bluetooth). Very inconvenient. 7/7: I cannot do what you asked at this time as when I do an error (502) keeps occurring on the assistant app when trying to access three dot menu add requested. I'm sure I'll try again. I did manage to temporarily fix the issue, but then it came back today after using Android Auto again. 🤦‍♂️

Used to be able to say, take a screenshot, and it would. Now wheel of death, then a quick message saying something about changing my settings. I didn't change anything and don't see anything in the settings to "change" back even if I had. Very frustrated as I used to use this feature a lot.

Works pretty well with maps but everything else is almost worthless. I've set up my Google home and more often than not it messes up directions I give it switching lights on or off. I've been trying all morning to get it to add something to my shopping list which it says it does but then the list is empty. I am at the point to where I really wish I would not have invested in this system.

Every time you guys do an upgrade, it never truly is an upgrade!!! Ninety-nine percent of the time just generally and All electronics, (with the exception of a few) the upgrades are mostly downgrades!!! These days... Not just with Google assistant, but pretty much consistently every upgrade, on my computer, on my phone and/or any other electronic piece of piece of, equipment, industry wide!!!

Routines / Automations produce fail errors for basic actions. The Assistant has been unable to perform tasks like changing phone volume, turning off wi-fi, and other simple toggles. This was an issue the entire two years I had the pixel 6 pro. I just got the pixel 8 pro, and it shockingly remains unfixed. It's bizarre & unsatisfactory that Google's own Assistant is unable to execute very basic commands in operating correctly on Google's own flagship device.

It's nice all round but takes a while to start up and usually ends up affecting whatever else was going on on my screen. I feel like the pop up bar that shows up when it's used can be minimized and made to look a little better and at the same time allow you to do other things in the back ground while it's up. Then your done with it it can ask "is that all" and then you respond and it goes away or you close the pop up
