$40/year to be able to organize podcasts into folders is comically insane. Edit in response to developer's reply: None of the other Plus features are useful to me, and even if they were, $40/year would still be far too expensive. I *was* a Plus subscriber at the previous price just for the folders, but I will not be renewing my plus subscription with the price increase, and once I lose my folders as a result I will likely be moving to another app altogether.

UPDATE: 10/26 added back a fourth star - Stable and back to working very well. UPDATE: 9/26 Seems to be working again! Will revist in a couple weeks. UPDATE: weeks later and still not fixed. UPDATE: dropped another star. Now the app won't play at all. I have loved this app, but since the recent update it seems to be really glitchy. Some apps won't download automatically, others won't delete after playing. Have to force stop and relaunch repeatedly to get it to work correctly.

Rewriting my review of earlier this week signing the apps praises as I just got notified the annual subscription is going from $9.99 to $39.99. This app is not worth forty bucks a year, better off with free or reasonably priced apps.

After a very frustrating month it seems all is well again with the Pocket Casts services. This still remains the best podcast app, but the slow pace to fix the bad updates from August/September keeps a star docked. If you're looking for a robust service with strong automations, features, and cloud syncing podcast queues and progress this the best place to listen to your podcasts.

Player won't play. Works fine one day, the next I have to kill app, clear cache, and even then it might not start playing my playlist. Looks like it has something to do with multiple episodes on podcasts that are set to only keep one episode, as it only starts playing after getting down to one episode, which doesn't seem to happen reliably.

Used reliably for years but as of a few days ago it's having a lot of issues where the audio will continue but the app itself is frozen and requires a force quit and won't sync progress. App can't refresh and requires a phone restart without fixing issue. Avoid for now if this is a widespread issue. Edit: Going on the second week or so of it just being completely unusable. For something that's used constantly and regularly as a podcast app that's a pretty direct way to lose users.

Over 10 years ago, I paid $3.99 to access this great platform. Some years later, I was told if I were to pay another cash sum in order to not get stuck with the "free version". Really? I paid money when less folks would have somehow I'm the economy version. You guys should've honored the original funding base of your platform. This said, I'm contemplating switching to some other paid platform. This one has far to much glitch to remain in that "free subscription" zone. Thanks and why.

not liking this at all. very disorienting. hard to fight muscle memory and not sure why or if i should even try. not an improvement. 2023-09-05: app was completely unusable when I left work. Nothing would play. A new notice on screen about battery life. killed, restarted. several times. finally uninstalled and reinstalled. seems to be working now. so much for a lifetime membership. time to go.

I don't think I have any other app that has consistently survived with me through so many phone changes over the last 10 years like this app. This year, they take it upon themselves to make political statements with icon coloring (I'm not pro or anti, I just find the level of entitlement to be galling), and a few weeks later the whole thing just stops working at a fundamental level. Truly a tragedy... up there with the fall of Rome.

After hearing that Google Podcasts app is being discontinued in 2024 I was frustrated with my options. This is very disappointing as it functions very well for a basic podcast player. Spotify, Amazon Music and YouTube Music are bloated and made for music. Spotify doesn't even have basic features like sorting your up next queue. Pocket Casts only wants to be a great podcast app and it nails the fundamentals. I am very pleased with this app. It does it all in a minimalist and user friendly way.

Used this app for years and liked it. Now within the past few days it's completely unresponsive. I can't refresh my feed, the play button doesn't work, can't start any downloaded podcasts or search. Tried clearing the cache and forcing closed, tried on different networks (mobile, home WiFi, and work WiFi), no luck. I reinstalled and now it won't log in. It just hangs with no error message.

Best podcast app on all platforms. It syncs listened to, in progress, and favorite podcast episodes between devices. It allows podcasts to stream or download for offline play. They even have a web version that works for most podcasts. I subscribed to hundreds of podcasts and it's really nice to have Pocket casts track them for me as I listen to them between devices. Only negative since Android's update: no way to export the mp3s to sd card. I highly recommend this app for podcasts.

A while ago, when Google announced it would be dropping its podcast app, I switched to Pocket Cast. It was working without any issues. This week I physically broke my Pixel 6a, and switched to another, which I set up as a new phone vs. backup/restore. Now no podcasts are updating. Tried deleting, rebooting and reinstalling, but no joy. Sad :(

Most recent update completely broke the app. None of the buttons work can't start or stop or download anything. Basically can't interact at all with the app. Restarting and clearing cache does not help. Yikes! Had previously never had an issue but now everything is broken. Edit: after several weeks seems to have been fixed in the 7.47 update so giving a few stars back.

This app is useless now. Opening a podcast page renders an empty screen. I have noticed the other low reviews, and the response from the developers, yet the problem persists. I understand that bugs can sometimes get released. But this problem has been happening for well over a month, which is inexcusable. Do not install this app as your podcast player.

Stability has cratered within the last couple of updates. The app has become almost completely unusable. Constant freezing, play/pause button is unresponsive almost all the time, can't add or remove episodes from Up Next. I literally have to go into app settings and force close the app just to resume playback after pausing. Disappointing. Edit: after 4 years of using this app, I finally gave up and un-installed.

Last update needs to be rolled back, it's garbage. Acted weird for the first few days, especially with Android Auto, continuing to play in the background when getting out of the car and when reconnecting it would restart the podcast from a earlier position (like 30 minutes earlier). Now the app is completely broken and useless, it's locked on a podcast, can't play it, can't mark as read, can't archive it, and won't start a different podcast.

Edit 9/22: We're back, baby! Latest update seems to have restored the app to full functionality. .... 9/18: Echoing all of the longtime users who are reporting that the most recent update completely broke the app. It's been reliable for years, so I've been hoping for a quick resolution, but after more than two weeks, I'm starting to worry a fix isn't coming.

Ever get the impression we slipped into the Bad Timeline sometime around 2020? Anyone here work at the TVA and can get on that? We'd be forever indebted to you, don't even care if you're the god of mischief or a gator, whatevs! K thx. In the meantime:- Fixed some crashes- Improved localizations- Fixed an issue where playback could jump back after a refresh- Fixed some issues with account screens and auto-fill (eg: password managers)
