I've been a guardian reader for a long time, but the recent pay wall changes have made it unusable for me so I'll be deleting it and moving elsewhere. I get that we should be paying for high quality journalism, and I want to, but >€120 per year is far too much for me.

The latest accurate news before the others but as many articles are updated there is often repetition of details, sometimes within only two paragraphs. This is common on news sites lately due to the fast paced environment so no points lost. Great job! This review was first written in 2020 but still holds true today. The best!

The app makes it easy to navigate to the news I want. Reporting and analysis is strong and fair. I have read the Guardian every morning for several years and continue to value it highly for keeping me informed with a greater understanding of local and world events. Plus the podcasts! While the fantastic cartoons of First Dog on the Moon help keep me somewhat sane in a clearly mad world.

Ad free, constantly updated, well written and with enough articles that I would not normally read, but which I skim and then get absorbed in. Some apps provide distraction. The Guardian is far far more.

Overall, a decent app, with some nice recent updates. I would prefer better control over notifications. For example, I have zero interest in sport, and even with the sports notifications switched off, I still seem to always receive breaking news about sport. It is really very irritating. So, greater granularity there would be helpful.

The app doesn't stay on the last opened article if you exit it and come back to it after a while. This was fixed in earlier versions, but now this error is back again. Please fix ASAP. Apart from that, I've been a longtime user of this stellar app, and I certainly couldn't have any qualms about the quality of journalism being published here (and it's well worth mentioning, that there isn't a paywall to contend with, so here's hoping that the user-supported model continues to thrive).

Most news apps are clickbait mixed with opinionated drivel pushed by misanthropic billionaire proprietors. Guardian, while it still occasionally publishes overly left wing views, is on the whole remarkably well balanced and factual. This isnt just my view, its academically researched. If you want to be informed rather than read a bilious comic, there are few other serious contenders in the UK.

Love it. Easy to use. It's worth signing up to become a regular supporter if you can afford it, to avoid the adverts. Seems to be quite intelligent at sending me relevant notifications. Good links to archived material. Addictive reading!

This is a shambles. I use both my phone and PC to read and comment on articles and have done so for years. I thought moving to this subscription would help. It has not so how do I cancel? I don't want to give it any stars but I can't post a comment with ZERO stars it appears. Well they have sorted the problems so I am happy now!

Brilliant. I wouldn't be without my online Guardian. I love having The Guardian at my fingertips. The facility to save articles for later is great & the access to archived articles is excellent. Constantly updating. And so portable. Fantastic

This is my one stop shop for news. It gives me a wide range of voices, including intelligent, well-informed Conservative commentators. Great coverage of the climate crisis, and the best way of following the England cricket team outside of TMS! Robert Kitson's rugby writing is a pleasure to read; it makes England's poor performances almost worthwhile.

Beware The Guardian's subscription scam! I paid the pricey subscription fee in the Play Store as the app suggested. But although it says you will unlock the full experience "on all your devices", this is not true. I logged in with the same Guardian account on the web and on my iPad, and neither recognise the subscription - both expect me to pay again! I spoke on the phone to their help desk and apparently this is intended behaviour. Unbelievable.

Links from Guardian emailed newsletter do not open the app. I am a Guardian subscriber and get daily and weekly emails from The Guardian. However clicking through to the stories doesn't automatically open them in the app and I get sign in or subscribe flags when I am already subscribed and it should just automatically open the app. Also searching for the specific stories in the app by title, author and/ or subject did not find the story that I specifically clicked through to read.

I've been using the Guardian App for a long time, going back to the days when I had a Windows phone. Top-notch reporting, deep dives (long reads), football updates, and recipes for food and drink. You cannot find a better app out there; it runs smooth and in the info is presented in a clean, sleek manner. I've even been a paying customer (approx. $7/mo) for about two and a half years because I greatly value the Guardian. Highly, highly, highly recommend.

I like nearly all the content, from politics to culture to sport. Most of the opinion pieces.. Only downside for me, is I'm currently restricted to my use of the app. It's very frustrating, as I've explained to the Guardian, I buy the Saturday and Sunday papers every weekend and I can't afford to pay for the app as well. This issue when raised by me with Guardian has not been acknowledged.

It's no doubt a great app, and guardian do some of the best and most impartial reporting, but I think they have shot for the sky when deciding to monetize the app. It's maybe double the price out should be, and the article limit without paying is far too low, so the app becomes unusable

News well presented. Excellent insights & comments on stories, and more. My first choice to read the news on my 8" tablet, especially after the BBC app new version. A good newspaper doing a great job on-line. Too expensive for the ad-free option, too many reminders, hence only 4 stars.

Great way to read news, and easy to set up which regional edition you want to see. Also which topics, and in which order The new Europe edition is really interesting, but you can choose IS, UK, International, Australian, or now Europe, then add other content easily.
