This app is good. Not great. Not poor. But just good. The camera works fine in the app. It just does not always catch the color of the stones good enough to identify them correctly. Even when the picture turns out perfect it still does not identify my stones or rocks correctly sometimes. But it gets it right more times than it gets it wrong. I ain't found a better rock identifier app yet so overall it's pretty good I reckon.

Thought this rock ID app was exactly what I needed,since I'm starting to really get into crystals,and wanted to use it with the grandkids while we're out exploring.I tested it 1st to make sure it was at least mostly accurate,otherwise what a waste of time. I took pics of some rocks outside,as well as some crystals I have.Out of 10 photos of each rock,it gave a different answer each time.Like I said,waste of time! Going to look for a better one.

I paid for the premium version because the only negative reviews are die to ads on the free version. this app is fast, accurate, and can ID ANYTHING you have! it's been so helpful. I tested it on a few I knew what they were so I know this app is accurate. just get the premium version, it's well worth it. runs smoothly and fast, and no ads in premium!

The only reason I'm giving it four stars is because I'm still learning to use it and haven't used it to its full potential. So far it's a great app and very easy to use, I have spent the better half of the past day taking photos of my collection to figure out what the heck they are. There have been a few times that I have had to take multiple photos because the identifier thinks the rock is something else... And I wish on the identification part it had a weight spot for each rock.

this app allows you to take a photo of any rock, stone, Crystal or mineral and gives you three different options to choose from and multiple examples of each so that you can better identify the specimen. of course each rock is one-hundred-percent indict and no two are alike so there are times where none of the options that it offers match what you have. therefore it's not 100% accurate but it has helped me identify many many stones. I still think that it deserves a 5 ⭐ rating.

Really?? An ad at every button push! While it seems to be good at identifying rocks correctly (which is the only reason for the 2), having to look at an ad with every tap on the screen is too much. I get that it's a free version but too many ads, too much wasted time. Removed from my device.

You are NOT required to start the trial, there is a small X at the top right to bypass that. Anyway, very cool app considering you can use it for free or pay the subscription. I think it could benefit from having a way to compare 2 similar types that it could be to help determine which it is. I also noticed green jasper and aventurine each had the same photo? Regardless I get beach and river rocks for fun and find this app enjoyable, will likely pay purely out of principal.

SUGGESTIONS: 1] After taking a photo, offer the ability/option (toggled via setting, for those who don't need it?) that allows the user to input the location the rock was found, to further refine and provide better (more accurate) results. 2] Also offer a "Don't Know" choice instead of just "NO" & "YES" for the question popup about if it was the correct result ~~~~ My geo knowledge is nill, so I have no idea if the results are correctly identifying my rock; all mine look QUITE different 😔

There is obviously room for error and to some extent you still have to use your best judgement when deciding between the suggestions, but the amount of information on the minerals is fantastic! Photo quality will greatly effect the outcome and I like to take a pic or two to test it. I'm not a geologist but I this app does a lot of the work well enough!

Amazed at this app!! It is pretty darn accurate most of the time. I first tested the app on some KNOWN specimens, both tumbled/polished and raw. It correctly ID'd those ones 100% of the time. Other I've found randomly outside, is 8/10 times correct. Sometimes, the error in identifying a stone is because of the lighting the pic is taken in, which can slightly change the color of the stone. (Tip: take the photo in natural light). I am fairly new to rockhounding, so this is helping so much!

Some are right on point and some are pretty far off. I think the more people who use it, and the more minerals scanned it could get a lot more accurate. It's no Dean Shafer but it's helped. There are SO MANY types of Agate and Jasper and a lot of them look very similar. Basic crystals and minerals that are polished it does well. Definitely needs improvement, but I feel it has potential.

Obviously it is an application so I expect some varying results.. but I love the format and it allows me to log all of my stones accordingly and sift through available knowledge. One may have to focus on the lighting and picture angle to allow for a clear shot... but my experience is about 70 to 90 percent success.. and usually 98 percent of the time I have overall success with the available info that is displayed with each potential specimen. Awesome time using this app so far. Super fun.

I really enjoy the app. It's nice being able to track the record of what I have found, easily document the location and day of find. My only feedback would be that it typically wants to show that even diamond registers as quartz. That is the only flaw I found so far. It is nice having a well detailed description of all the different types of Fossil, rock, and minerals.

This app is AMAZING! Please don't listen to negative reviews... They just don't know how to use it! Identifications are spot on! While it does have trouble identifying some rocks... The AI learns from you. You can identify it manually if you know what it is. If it does not match correctly you can hit the back arrow and will get a prompt "was the rock identified?" To which you can select yes or no. Selecting no will tell the AI that all choices were wrong, therefore learning! Best rock app!!

The best rock identifying app around!!! You can actually take a photo of the rock in question,and it shows you 3 different possible types. And gives you different photos to compare and all sorts of information about the type. My only "meerrr" I have with the app is that if the possible types it suggests are not the same rock you have, you can't just rescan the photo or retake the photo and try it again. You have to go back and it automatically saves it as one of the suggestions.

The idea of this app is great, but it doesn't seem to be very accurate. If you take a picture from 3 angles, you are going to get 9 different possible answers. For the ones it was actually able to identify, it does help that the correct ID was 1st more times than not. With these issues, it is totally not worth paying for. If there was a way to make it more accurate, I would consider $20/year. Plus, I am not sure if you have the ability to search the stone names, but that would be helpful too.

I really enjoy this app, and I think it so deserves 5 stars. However, after photographing about 2 or 3 rocks and adding them to my collection, it starts showing a wifi error and says reconnected. It won't be disconnected but wants me to think it is. It get very aggravating. It keeps showing this over & over when I click the button to take photo. I always have to close everything I have opened to get it back taking photos, but after 2 or 3 photos it's starts again with the wifi issues. AGGRAVATED

This app is amazing! The premium membership is completely worth it! When I was looking for advise for an app that included my long list of wants I was told that there wasn't an app that came close to meeting my criteria... but they were wrong! This one does! Only 2 minor things I wish I could change 1) the ability to make separate lists for the different members of my family for "owned" & "want" items; it can be hard keeping track 4 collections. 2) the appearance is very basic but does its job.
