Description of LG ThinQ

Connect your washer, air conditioner, TV, and other appliances to the ThinQ app.
Get away from the busy routine and enjoy a relaxing home life with smart ThinQ. ☕

■ Get immediate notifications
The ThinQ app will keep you informed with all notifications you need so that your laundry will not smell musty or your pizza in the oven will not get overcooked. ThinQ will periodically diagnose the state of your products by itself.

■ Control your home from anywhere
You can check the indoor temperature of your house and turn on your air conditioner even while you are out. You can also remotely run your washer from outside and proceed with the drying process right after coming back home.

■ TV remote control in my smartphone
Change TV channels and adjust the sounds with the ThinQ app. You can enjoy your mobile content in your smartphone gallery on a TV screen. You can also use the Magic Remote feature with your app.
※ The availability of products and services may vary depending on the models you own or the region/country you reside in.

■ ThinQ will automatically access the current state of your products
Get the state of your products smartly assessed in detail. Smart Diagnosis will catch problems and help you troubleshoot them.

The LG ThinQ app supports Android OS 7.0 and higher versions.
If you are using an Android OS version older than 7.0, we recommend that you contact the smartphone manufacturer to upgrade the OS.

The accessibility API is used only to transmit the signal that users input to the TV remote control to the smartphone when using the ‘View Phone Screen on TV's Larger Screen’ function in the LG ThinQ app. We do not collect or use your information except for the minimum information necessary to operate your smartphone.

To provide service, optional access permissions are required as shown below. Even if you do not allow optional access permissions, you can still use the basic functions of the service.

- To attach and set my profile picture in Photos.

• Microphone
- To check product status via Smart Diagnosis

• Notifications
- Notifications are essential for receiving updates on product status, important notices, benefits, and information.

I'm using this app with the lg lp1419ivsm portable air conditioner. So far connecting it to my Wifi and running my AC unit remotely has worked perfectly. I'm not a fan of all the ad's placed in the main screen of the app, but whatever. My main complaint about this is the lack of scheduling for the ac unit. I have the unit in my bedroom and there's no way to have the sleep mode function (where the unit run's a lot quieter) on a repeatable daily schedule or time frame. Nor can I select to have the lights on the unit turned off with the schedule. I have to press and hold a button for 3 seconds, 2 times, to turn off the display every time the unit turns on is not ideal. The few things the app can do it does them well though.

Everything works pretty good except for the one thing I want this for. Mirror Casting. I did get the app to do it. It mirror's my screen perfectly. The problem is when I use Chrome the video plays but I get no sound. Edit: Come on guys it's been a year now. This should have been fixed by now. When I'm casting video from the Chrome browser I don't get any Sound!!

You click on the app then wait ~10 seconds for it to connect to our 3 ac devices. Only then can tell one of then to turn on. Not sure what the deal but I seem to have to hover a bit to activate the on/off button. The remote has different settings, so if you both remote and phone then you the user has to manually sync them. Frequent "upgrades" means you have to login in again, and data loss (3x) of my preferences for Celsius. Weather gadget takes 40% of screen and only shows Fahrenheit. Ugh.

Not sure when this issue began but the app no longer detects my TV or makes any attempts to connect to it. I've reinstalled the app, reset the app, deleted my TV and re-added it and it continues to not work. An update later and the issues I listed before have been fixed and the app is working flawlessly. It finds and connects to my tv quickly. I'd give it 5 stars if there was a way to remove or hide the advertisements on the main screen.

UPDATE: Reinstalled, OK again Blank screen. I've been using this with a LG window air conditioner and it worked fine. Then came the surprisingly annoying animation of clipart images delaying the start, but it still worked fine. Now all I get is a blank white screen. Go back, it lists the air conditioner in a box, very limited ability to control it there. Force close, no help. Now I have to actually walk over to the air conditioner and use the buttons on it (what?!) or use the regular remote :-)

I love both of my LG OLED TVs, but this app needs to go back to the drawing board. 95% of the time it says my TVs are disconnected (they aren't) and the other 5% of the time I can only turn on one of the TVs with the app, but no other remote control features are available (including the off button). This app seriously needs to go back to the developers, especially since LG TVs are so brilliant.

This app doesn't have any functionality (screen mirroring, menu navigation, program information, viewing guide, episode/program selection, playback controls, etc). Its only purpose is to send notification ads to your device with information about upcoming sales and product launches. That's all it does. So if you don't want ads, you don't need this.

I never leave reviews for apps, but this app is terrible and glitchy. I got it to replace a remote after it went missing and it is a terrible replacement. It usually will not turn the TV on even though it says it is. The TV apps won't load half the time when you select them from the phone app. And the phone app buttons often are super unresponsive, like trying to turn the sound down on the tv and it will suddenly go down 5 minutes later. We have high speed internet 10 feet from our TV.

The remote interface for the tv was awesome at first by allowing us to watch content from the phone on the tv while still being able to use the remote interface... but the interface won't allow us to watch media and back out to use the other functions on the remote without shutting off the media were watching. The screen share and video interface could use a little more work as far as accessibility and customization. And a dark mode would be great also. It's very bright at night.

I have 2 air conditioners. The app worked great for a year, now it see's both air conditioners, but not the data/settings within. Removing and re-adding didn't help. Update: Thanks for your response LG. The reinstall didn't help initially, but a few days later the data within the air conditioners started showing up. Now I have access to all the settings, except temperature. I'll reach out to tech support, and update accordingly.

Pretty good app for my late-model LG TV. No big complaints. The most difficult thing has to do with running YouTube. When the TV first turns on all the streaming services (YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, etc.) appear for a short time across the bottom of the screen. But afterwatds, I cannot find a way to pull the list back up. There are four buttons on the physical remote allowing easy access to four streaming services (not YouTube though) and that is it. I must be missing something???

Useless. Painful to setup. Non-intuitive at every step. Best of all? After wasting an hour setting up this piece of garbage, the "screen cast" feature is just a lie. You can't put your screen up on your tv, you can browse photos and stored video on your phone. So, useless if you want to, for example, quickly stream something from a web page on your tv that isn't available on the streaming services. This is a waste of time. If you want this functionality to work properly, get an iPhone.

The app wants your location so that it can connect to an appliance via Bluetooth. Please explain why, LG, you think that my precise GPS location is important for Bluetooth functionality. This app has the inability to function normally without permissions that are unnecessary - if I remember correctly this is against Google's own TOS. *based on their response it appears LG doesn't know that you can still connect to Bluetooth or WiFi without a GPS signal. Crazy right?

Hope you change your "total control" slogan because it's a lie. This app is no better than a news feed for washers. You can't create a custom cycle to download. There's ZERO information about, or control over water level. I shouldn't have to run the bedding setting and THEN put on an extra spin mode just to get it to spin it on high. I SHOULD be able to make a cycle to download with the bedding water level and a high spin. Useless for no reason. Like a fancy car missing an engine.

The app doesn't inform if the firmware is up-to-date. It asks for not needed permissions. Suspicious!! 🚩🚩🚩 EDIT: You can determine the country via GPS. You use phone permission to get the phone number. You don't need to determine storage space, the app can work without it. You don't need access to user's contacts unless you are collecting more phone numbers. The app can access location while in the background. 🚩🚩🚩

Worst app ever! We've had this LG TV for 2 years. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to connect to the LG ThinQ app. I ALWAYS get a "registration error" message. At this point, it's not even worth the hassle, and it's making me rethink having LG products altogether. What's the point if they're not going to function together, or even individually, under the app as advertised?

I'm not sure why it needed my precise location at all times. I just need to wash my dishes. It didn't have many useful features beyond the initial preference settings. I could have used it to know when to run a Machine Clean, but after the first time it told me it was due the counter did not reset, and attempting to update the status only made it crash back to the home screen. The NFC connection was a buggy mess that took me way too many tries. So, now it's just a homing beacon.

Works only when tv is already on. Explai. To me the point of having a television remote app in your phone if you can't turn on the TV with it. Nonsense. We have busy household with people moving the remote around constantly. Especially the kids. It used to be able to turn on the TV but someone had the bright idea of taking that feature off. Thank you for that. Useless. Two stars cus it works when tv is on. Vizio and samsung are a step above.
