Usually streams the NHL feed I want (outside the Blackout restrictions). Occasionally, it won't play the feed without trying extra steps to clear the app cache and force close - even after a phone restart. Also, notifications for unwanted topics keep popping up even though they're off in the app. Annoying. Update- I contacted support and never received a reply. I'm sure fixing the app is high on their priority list... Update 2 - Still worthless notifications even though they're all turned off.

I have used this app and have had espn+ for well over a year now and the quality has gone from just tolerable to unreasonable to use. All videos for me do not play after a 30-40 second ad. It's been this way for over a month. I can't read articles because if I am not perfectly swiping vertically it slides over to a different page. Side note: The sports commentators are unsavory and I do not enjoy their content delivered by just yelling stupidly over each other or at you. It's repulsive.

Almost complete trash. The UI is designed very badly, and the ESPN+ integration is half-baked, and feels like it is just slapped on carelessly to the existing service. Navigation does not feel intuitive. Purchases are frequently lost, and fail to get restored. This forces me to log out and log back in. And oh, I can't use my saved password in Google to log in, so I have to type it out manually every time. No Player-in-Player, no options to control resolution, and I could go on for days. UGHH.

Anytime I get a notification and try to open it, I just get a loading screen that goes nowhere. Other sports apps are quicker on notifying me of changes in scores, breaking news, and highlight videos. When there is a "highlight video" of a match, it's always an unrelated video of some interview. The idea of having a monthly subscription to this app is RIDICULOUS.

App constantly crashes. It takes literally 2 full minutes to load, along with 4-5 "this app isn't responding" alerts asking me to close the app or wait it out. I've turned off all notifications, but I still get notifications. I only need it to watch ESPN+ because they don't let you do that in a browser for no good reason.

Update 2023: Ads load fine, short videos still don't most of the time. It's getting embarrassing. Breaking News Videos NEVER work if launched from the notification. It endless loads, unless you navigate to the same video by scrolling through it's feed. Absolute garbage. This app is far too bloated, featured stories don't load all the time. Use bleacher report if you value your sanity or data plan. ESPN app became total garbage when they combined watch ESPN and the regular ESPN app.

Update: 4/28/23 - Once again, going to stream an event and the results are displayed to me before I get to watch it. Its not that hard. This app has one of the worst user experiences of any app that I've ever used. To navigate to different sports is a challenge, you generally are shown the results of the sport you're trying to watch while trying to find what you're trying to watch. This is incredibly frustrating.

Espn coverage is decent, but this app is horrible. Really bad ui, and glitchy on top of that. It can't seem to remember where I left off in any on demand video. Also, It can't seem to figure out that I only want to watch one sport. So when it crashes or freezes, which happens frequently, I have to search through everything to find the video again and then search through the video to find my spot again. Ridiculous waste of time.

The amount of money and viewership that ESPN has and then to have an app that doesn't work is absolutely preposterous. It was buggy, video highlights are usually terrible quality, adds out the wazoo, the list goes on. Now I have installed and reinstalled this app multiple times because it simply will not load anything. It does not work at all, does not go past the the logo screen.

Horrible live streaming. Trying to watch the Monaco Grand Prix right now, but the video quality is ridiculous. Just for comparison, I'm going back and forth to YouTube TVs local ABC station and I'm getting great video. Also every time I do go to YouTube TV and come back to ESPN plus it takes me to the live feed instead of where I left off. So I have to track back to figure out where I last watched without any kind of time stamp on the video player. I cancel if it wasn't part of my Hulu.

This is where sports happen, but this is the worst app. I have to resign everytime to want to watch something and it's just frustrating. Then it won't let me watch if I close the app. Every other app open a little box on the side of my phone and let's me continue but espn thinks it's above that. Also, why so many adds? I'll get my sports else where, where they want users to have a good experience!

Horrible!!!! I have a google phone and this has not worked properly on my device for 3 upgrades. I been trying to give this app a chance because I'm a big sports head, but in 3 years this app has not worked on my Google devices. I have a subscription and everything. This app just keeps loading and loading for literally 10 minutes( that's as long as I was willing to wait) and still nothing but loading page. All the while, this app is still sending me notifications the whole time!! Such a scam!!

This app is garbage. The world wide leader in trash. Terrible load times. The app will hijack your audio even if you just open it to check scores real quick. And do you want to watch 2 different one minute ads you can't skip to watch a 20 second highlight video? If so, then this is the app you've been waiting for! Complete garbage

Update to my previous 1 star review because I can search for ESPN+ shows on the app and find them now, but there's still no way to create a list of the shows I like to watch as you can on Netflix (or literally any other platform that streams shows). Also, I still get notifications for other sports, not only the sport I've listed as a favorite. I don't want my phone notifying me about random sports. It's annoying af and I'll likely get annoyed enough to uninstall the app again.

I use this app all the time, accept for watching videas clipd and highlights. Because every freaking 10-15 second clip you try to watch is preceded by a 30-40 second long ad you can't skip. It's egregious for obvious reasons. Even when your clip is done and the next one starts to auto play you're immediately greated by another 30-40 second non skippable ad. Gross

I clicked a video. I watched an ad for the Navy. After that, nothing played. I refreshed and clicked the same video. I watched the same ad for the Navy. Then... the wrong video played! So, waste of my time. For a thirty second clip. I guess... shame on me. That's what a media company wants, right? To make their viewers feel stupid for attempting ( and failing) to interact with its platform? Fine. I give up. also, reviews are stupid.

I seriously cannot tell if perhaps I accidentally downloaded a Chinese knock off app or the real ESPN app. It has SO many problems, it is borderline criminal that they charge for this! On top of all the bugs, You cannot find anything you're trying to find on it! Thenonly search doesn't take you to anything you can watch. The app doesn't keep history, which is worse because if you switch out and back to the current stream it starts over or goes to live (random), even when casting to Chromecast 🤬

This by far the worst media app I HAVE EVER USED. Constantly have issues while casting, errors freeze ups. Switching to consoles to avoid the absolute trash casting aspect and I get menu problems the fast forward bar won't leave the screen it just pops back up on the screen. The most frustration I have ever had attempting to use an app. Just watch the highlights on YouTube because this app is total trash. Always had been, and always will be.
