Works great, thanks. Found the Ikea Smart Home app wouldn't connect over VPN when away from home. Not smart at all huh? On the Tradfri Reddit I found a recommendation for Hue Essentials, so I installed it, and it picked up my whole set-up without fault. Everything works at it should. Does not seem to have picked up the names of timers. That's my only critique, and it's basically a nothing-burger.

Issues with the Tap Dial Switch. 1: After adjusting the settings for the Dial of the Tap Dial Switch, app crashed and can no longer edit that switch's settings at all. Had to reconnect it. 2: On a separate Tap Dial, the battery became "unknown". 3: Using Dial to decrease brightness does now allow it to "Decrease to Off". // Will uninstall for now, but will keep an eye on updates.

It's good once you get it set up. Setting up the outdoor motion detector was complicated and made more difficult than it needed to be really. I was so close to returning it and giving up. I think there should be some online tutorials on some of the settings for certain hue accessories.

It really unlocks a lot of Hue's potential. Configuring dimmer switch, motion sensor the way I want them to behave is so nice. It allows me to activate dynamic effects using the switch or sensor. I love that with "Dance Sensation" it can monitor sound from within the system (not the mic, but also available ;D), I just wish we could choose sound frequency ranges. I would also love to create my own palettes for dynamic effects instead of using the predefined ones or creating a bunch of scenes.

Fantastic app. The widgets and notification bar settings are THE BEST. It's super responsive too. ... I just wish it had Spotify Integration instead of just listening to the microphone, as this has far better settings than the official Hue App. ONE THING: on my smart tv, using the 'hue sync' entertainment option with my Google TV, the app picks up the colours off the menu interfaces, but not video colours. SO close to working there!

The official Hue app is fine, and I can see why certain limitations exist. However, anybody wanting finer control over their Hue setup, especially if they use the motion sensors, should use Hue Essentials. It's a game changer in terms of flexibility in defining rules. Whilst there are some powerful features, the standard control UI is still initiative and easy to use.

Fantastic app! Discovered it when I was looking for a way to customise the functionality of my Hue Dimmer remotes. Hue Essentials is very well designed, easy to use, and provides a ton more functionality over the standard Hue app, allowing you to do so much more. The develop is also incredibly friendly and helpful - I requested a feature on the community forum, and within a couple of weeks he'd implemented it and rolled it out via a new update!

Absolutely phenomenal little app. Gives much better control over the system than any other app I've used in the decade or more that I've been amassing my hue collection. It allows you to set complex rules that can control various things, and even set all of the lights to turn on to their last state! So your light switches are back in business!

Great for the normal stuff but some of the extra features aren't entirely stable. The sync feature for example lags a lot when something like a quicker video is being synced, and should have a feature to not turn the light of, and to make the sync speed slower, which might even reduce lag. But my tv is going on it's knees when trying to sync videos. Under development I know but feedback should be shared.

I bought the premium version of Hue Essentials on my Sony Android TV to see my Hue lights sync with on-screen content. I felt compelled to by the premium version because the trial is an absurdly short 30 seconds - barely enough to launch any kind of media. It doesn’t sync with Netflix or Amazon Prime, and it doesn’t sync to my Xbox via HDMI so it’s pretty useless to me. I understand that there are content control issues, but this isn’t made clear in the Play Store or when you try to run the Entertainment sync. You need to signpost to potential users the limitations imposed by the major content providers, so that we can make informed decisions.

Great app but I am having trouble with setting a schedule for a scene. I want to set the Christmas scene in a schedule but under the scene drop down menu nothing is listed, it just says none. EDIT: You are correct and I am very happy to hear that you are working on implementing this feature. Great work, love the app.

Absolutely love it!👌 Easy as a brease to set up and the features are just amazing. Although it would be nice to give Tasker the functionality to read the current light setting and save it. I set it up to blink when I get a notification. Edit: With today's update I can create scenes and restore the original value after the scene has been played. Although it was disappointing, that after buying all the pro stuff, I need to buy the recently added effects too.

I like the idea for this app. It's got a number of improvements above the normal Hue app, like conditions and scheduling. However it's unstable, and I has crashed on me several times. Sometimes when it crashes, it erases what ever device or group of devices I was working on in the process. Very frustrating. I always cringe when I use the app in fear of the next crash.

The picture palette creator thing sucks now, It only picks random colours instead of giving you a colour wheel to choose from. Goofy change.

No way to remove a LIFX cloud account/resync. Besides that, the app is rather basic but I do love that it's Material 3. Shame no Material You auto theme support though.
