Description of Windy.app: Windy Weather Map

Windy.app - wind, waves and weather forecast app for surfers, kitesurfers, windsurfers, sailors, fishermen and other wind sports.

FEATURES:
✔ Wind report, forecast and statistics: wind map, accurate wind compass, wind meter, wind gusts and wind directions. It’s very useful for extreme wind sports.

The latest update does not seem to work on my phone, ot keeps telling me there is no wifi, even though it is on! Update: App is working again, it's an excellent App and I enjoy using it daily.

Having played with the transparency when looking at the weather map, the map behind the wind has difficulty loading - is currently just flashing up small squares of map at a time. Making it virtually unreadable. - I've paid for the full version as well!

I have been using the free version of this app for about 12 months and have been recommending it to all my swimming friends as the most accurate for checking wind and swell conditions. But with each update we lose a bit more functionality. I now only get one forecast model, GFS27, which is a USA one (previously I had a choice of 3 or 4, including at least one European). But it is still the best app for seeing all the important data in one place.

The only thing I would like to see different is the ability to change the colors. This app can be a challenge of your color blind. I often have to ask friends to look at it for me to get a more specific speed forecast. Other than that, it's a fantastic app.

I'm new to the Windy app but so far I like it! I have had it for about 3 weeks and really enjoy all the features and the accuracy that it has!! I only have the free version so I can only imagine how well the paid version is if you're thinking about it I would definitely do it. Hope this helps

I find the Windy app very useful, I'm a Home Repair pro. and knowing the weather is critical to my projects. wind, humidity, atmospheric pressure play a critical role in the way products cure and how fast,and the strength. and it helps when I go fishing also.

I've had it five minutes and so far it's ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I got the app specifically for wind alerts. There was NO GUIDANCE on how to set one up. So I had to get instructions from Bard. Strike one. Then, I follow those directions and the app tells me, AFTER I JUST DOWNLOADED IT AND IT HAD FOUND LOCATIONS, that there was no Internet connection. Strike two If you'll help me fix this I'll change my review. Otherwise, I'll uninstall it before the trial and leave the review as is.

The only weather app with offline hourly tracking and amazing customer service. When I couldn't save a spot to download offline data for my AT trek in Maine someone worked overtime just to make sure I wouldn't be caught in bad weather the next day! Very awesome, earned my money for the pro version.

A complete waste of money. Getting wind alerts is what was important to me, and the only option is to pay a year in advance. I went ahead, and never received one notification. Weather Centers are way too spread out to be of much use, anyway, and the alerts are literally nonexistent. If they had any Integrity they would refund my money. Update: Am waiting for promised refund... Will revise Rating then. Update: Did promptly refund my money as promised, so adjusting to 3 stars.

Interesting app, but very hard to use. UI is complicated and sometimes is very hard to achieve what you want. At the same time application can provide a lot of info Update: reduce to 1 star, the app constantly removing private spots

At first I didn't really think much of it, but it's almost become indispensable now for me. I own pontoon boat on a lake and knowing when I'm supposed to be tying this boat up and securing it depending upon the wind and the waves and the direction of the wind is vital. I can't say enough about this app. It is totally stable and the free version is amazing

great info. best details of any app I have seen, presented in clear and understandable interfaces. GREAT JOB! I use it for cycling and the predictions are very helpful to gage when best to head out and the direction info is most helpful in choosing my route. (Always best to head out against the wind and return with the wind, when I am more tired.)

Customer service is definitely alive with this outfit. I originally went to sign up for the 7-Day free trial but was unable as it wanted to charge my card so I left an unfavorable review. The developer reached out to me nearly immediately and allowed me to get in to evaluate the software. Very responsive customer service. That goes an extremely long way with me! Once I got in the software I found out that I have some learning to do. Have yet to spend any real time with the software. To be cont.

Do NOT sign up for the trial pro account. They state that they will email you a reminder two days before the trial period ends, they don't. The email link on their F.A.Q. page does not work so you can not email them. If you sign up for a trial period. You are stuck and will be charged. In addition the free version works better then the pro version anyway.

*Edit 2* Still love the app, but had to drop one star due to the constant push to upgrade to pro. *Edit* After the dev being awesome enough to respond, I was able to figure out where the wave(swell) information was located. I was looking under the Fish setting, which doesn't show swell info, instead of something like the Foil setting. I would recommend adding the swell info as an option under the fish setting. We use the swell info to determine if we are going offshore or not

Never had a problem, I just pray that they don't try to force me to pay. I'll F'n walk outside and check myself after uninstalling, if they do. Nice to have an hourly estimate on what the wind is going to be like for the day. I cycle semi-professionally, and it's a super handy to know if I'm planning ultra-distance rides that the wind is going to completely switch directions over the day!

This app is brilliant! A once per year payment with no monthly subscription at a great price! This will be my only surf app for life if the price remains reasonable with only annual payment 🙏 Highly recommend! A very easy to use interface with basic info as well as super detailed information.

Map bug fixed and moreNow the map zooms to the spot you were searching for as it should. We know it was annoying, our apologies. Also, the phone widget is fixed -- for a little while, you couldn’t add it to your screen. Try it now - it's great for keeping an eye on the wind forecast for your favorite spots.
