I've been using the Weather Underground app for more than a decade. For a long time the app suffered from long load times, but that seems to have been resolved. The is now consistently fast and, I believe, provides the best forecasts you can find. The app design still seems a little dated, but the quality of the information therein makes up for it. Altogether, I'm pretty happy with Weather Underground.

7/07/2023 App is running, do I really need to see IBM splash screen every time I access it. Constant audio notifications, but no clue what for. Sometimes it will sound 3+ notices within seconds of each other multiple times an hour. Have no clue what they are for. Had to turn off notifications for the app due to constant mystery notices, which means no Temp display in notification area. Only reason I use is so I can see my own station.

lately,, what was once a useful radar depiction, is almost always more than 10 minutes behind and intermittently fragmented 😾 above is what I posted some time ago, and since I liked the apps day-by-day or hour-by-hour forecasting ability, I decided to reinstall the app and simply not use the radar. But I was pleased to find the radar now working beautifully. I don't know if the program was buggy or if I simply had to reinstall the app. regardless it's working fine so, 4 stars 🙂

UPDATE: the latest update FINALLY fixed the status bar. It took 5 months but am happy it's fixed as I do enjoy this app. After the last update, the notification status bar is broken. Doesn't show anything other than temperature and when clicked, does nothing. When I click on the notification bar, it does not open the app like it used to. I'm waiting to uninstall the app in hopes the next update resolves the issues.

The daily and weekly forecast graphs are unmatched by any other weather app, they're extremely intuitive and helpful, please don't change that ever. That being said, the notification bar and widget are both awful, poor quality or straight up nonfunctional depending on the update. It's really disappointing when the app itself is so fantastic. Fix those and you'll have the best overall weather app BY FAR. Edit 7/17/23: Notification bar is fixed! Nothing special but it works!! 5 stars now

8/6/20 - Good app. Works well on Samsung, but not compatible with Amazon Fire Tablet. 10/28/21 - Just updated to latest version on Samsung tablet, seems to still be working well. Ads are annoying, but I can see the data I need around them. Only works in portrait mode....won't rotate to landscape.....I think it had landscape in older versions.....I really wish it had landscape mode. Otherwise, still a good app. 9/16/2023 - Still using this app for forcasts. Still no rotate and ads still annoy.

This WAS a great app. But, the quality has slipped heavily since the The Weather Channel/IBM acquisition. The app was very accurate, prior. Now, it's about 50/50, like most others. The app was very intuitive, but now is not. The current devs should be terminated for incompetence and mediocrity. The subscription based model for full feature is a scam, especially with the loss in quality. (I paid the one time fee, years ago, but that was not honored in the acquisition. )

It's a miracle! It only took them a year to figure out how to fix the broken notification display that had previously worked just fine! Snarkiness aside, this is nice weather app, especially with the ability to choose multiple PWS. Things that still bug me: splash screen shouldn't persist for so long; temperature shown in the favorites sidebar doesn't always match the temp for the chosen location; can't rearrange or hide cards; can't look up PWS IDs directly in the app. Minor issues, still good.

I prefer the interface to all other weather apps I have tried. The reliability is abysmal. The radar reliably is NOT. I walk a lot. Having the update when I need it is a must. Today there are thunderstorms and the radar picture is over 10 minutes late. Weather Underground has not delivered. Also the very long IBM splash screen on opening the app does nothing to increase my desire to pursue other IBM products.

This app used to be based on personal weather stations, and it was great. Neighbors would tune in to see the weather from my station...what the temp is, how much rainfall. This app dropped support of personal weather stations. It wasn't immediate, but slowly became useless. Every place is in a different microclimate. My microclimate is not the same as the airport, 30 miles from here. The rainfall where I live is different from 1/4 mile away, either on the other side of the hill or in the flats.

No customisable alerts. I been using this app for several years but the past couple of weeks I get certain weather alerts I don't want, like small craft alerts, which frankly I don't need to know so I should be able to disable that. ...Edit 07/26/2023... The last 4 months the app does not allow me to click it where the temp display when I pull down the bar. I have to actually tap on the app itself. A bit of an inconvenience when all other apps let you tab on the temp bar to bring the app up.

Needs improvement. Future radar is a major one and needs to have a location pin on radar for location without gps/location having to be on. Also, the app widget is extremely bland and needs to be more intuitive/have more options. It'd be awesome if there was a little more geo data like for earthquake activity, but that's more of a want than need. I do really like the fact of being able to multilayer the radar and ads not too intrusive, but they do take up a lot of the home screen. As of now, 3⭐s

Not overwhelmed with ads. Adaptable. Lots of info and ways to view it. And first time I had a feature break, when I went to send feedback, it was already flagged as being fixed, saving me time of writing it. Widget trouble here and there, but options are there for notification feed instead. Making it work if you play with settings. +1 for dark modes! Helped me travel 48 states with less stress.

Forecast is very good and that is what's important. List of locations frequently checked is ugh ! Persistent problem - the app won't save the closest reporting station, my choice, as the default. It will be there when I go back to the app, but if it relodes, I must go back to the map to select it again.

This used to be my go-to weather app but I have to say that this has become the *worst* app that I have used over the last 6 months. Constantly trying to delete and reinstall does not fix what it does...freezing, innacurate information, incomplete information. Even though I have been using it for years I'm afraid that the honeymoon is over and I'm getting a divorce Update: just downloaded and reinstalled after the last review. Still 1 star junk. Widget gives you one option that doesn't work.

Up until yesterday, everything was working normally. Today, if I pull down my notification bar instead of seeing the temperature and weather conditions that I can click on to open the app, I see a white bar with the temperature and "wunderground". If I tap the bar, nothing happens. I have to go into my apps and click the icon to open the full app. Why make a change that decreases function? Update 7/12/23: It looks like they FINALLY fixed the pull-down notification so it works like it did before.

Final edit: deleting this app. If I switch locations in the app, it still shows the forecast from the previous location but with the new city name at the top, a horribly confusing bug. UX went downhill and never recovered. What happened? Why does the app take so long to load? How many inches of snow are we going to get? Used to be easy to find out. Not anymore. The "Weather Forecast" screen is now an unreadable mess. Tired of waiting for this app to get better again.

Used to be my favorite. The best weather app available. Not any longer. It is frustratingly glitchy and doesn't have the weather stations that were previously available. Wish they would go back to the old version. Update: I use this only for work as required. After recent Android updates the app quit opening from notification. I have to open it directly from the app icon. WU says they know about the glitch but after months it is still not fixed. More frustrating now then even before.
