By summarising the weather in plain-spoken & user-friendly language via its one-of-a-kind Timeline screen, Appy Weather sets itself apart from all other weather apps — no more scrolling long lists to figure out the weather as it's now summarised for you in a few lines and makes checking the weather fast, easy and actually fun! Appy Weather is privacy-first. It doesn’t collect or process any user data.

If location permission is granted, your location will be stored locally on your device – it’s never shared with a third party.

Your location enables hyper-local forecasting when the app is run. Widgets & notifications check your location in the background when they’re updated/sent.

Dark Sky is on its way out and I was on the hunt for a replacement. Weather apps are a dime a dozen, only a few are really great and only one gets a subscription. Appy is the one. I've tried so many over the past week my head was spinning. Stop your search. This is the weather app you're looking. It's got all the same functionality as Dark Sky (with a sub) with a fantastic clean Twitter like look. It's flexible, adaptable and customizable . The Appy Dev is always updating as well. S Tier app.

Overall pretty good, but not at the level of a paid weather app (like dark sky), if you ask me. The radar map in particular lacks the resolution and functionality to actually make it useful. Update RE Plus vs Pro: I still say that the Plus radar (which costs money) is worse than what you can get from a free app. The existence of the even more expensive Pro level is irrelevant when comparing Plus to free weather apps.

I purchased a subscription to support the app since I really liked the nice clean UI. The current weather is typically spot on. That being said once there is any prediction required, especially in the immediate future this app does not perform. For instance, the app will tell me it is going to start raining in 15 minutes, but there is not a cloud in the sky. I might end up cancelling my subscription if this apps accuracy isn't improved. What good is a weather app if it can't predict the weather?

This is a solid app for weather with a nice clean and minimal interface. It's clear the app is still missing features, but updates are regular and it's clear the developer is committed to constant improvements. About the only thing that could make this a better app is Android Auto support for displaying weather at a glance.

A beautiful weather app, which really scratches my design itch for my weather app. One thing that I'd love is a trial period for the subscription so that users can experience the benefits of the very affordable subscription before committing to it. As is, it's hard to tell exactly how much I'd make use of the added functionality.

One thing about this app bugs me. Let's say on a Tuesday the temperature will reach a high of 40 at 3pm but it was still 59 degrees for an hour at midnight before the cold front moves in. This app will say it's a high of 59 for the day on the 7 day forecast. That is misleading and can lead to an uncomfortable day because you brought a light jacket instead of the heavy one that you actually needed. Edit: thanks for the update! Looking forward to it

I was just another Dark Sky user, frustrated and unsure of what could ever replace it... Luckily, I found AppyWeather. It is a WONDERFUL app - visually stimulating yet minimalist, intuitive and easy to navigate, and full of features that I thought I would lose without Dark Sky, like notifications about upcoming precipitation all the way down to the street you live on. I'm thrilled with this app, it does every I ask of it and more, and the developer is very helpful and open to feedback. A+!

Dark Sky/WU users, look no further! This is your new weather app! The layout and design is super easy to comprehend. It gets you the highlights in a perfect way, but you can "dig in" if needed. Widgets are plentiful and great. Best of all, the dev is super responsive, cares about and acts on feedback! There is a lot in the works for this app in terms of enhancements as well. Check this app out for a day or so and you'll be hooked. After 1 day I subscribed. Totally worth it!

A nice android Dark Sky replacement. I installed and uninstalled quite a few weather apps before resting here. I found myself coming back to this one. If the accuracy holds up after the Dark Sky API expires, it should be your go to weather app. Would hope to see some weather animations like lightning, thunder, rain drops, wind, snow like with other apps but, not a deal breaker. Also, I advise the developer to offer a free trial subscription to see what features you'd be getting for a paid commitment.

I've been using this app for 2 years now. I do like the information presented by this app, and the in-app format is quite streamlined. The use of cards is a good use of some Material Design-ish elements while having its own personality. Highly recommend trying it out. My favorite view is the Precipitation Intensity forecast graph, as I live in a high precipitation climate. Looking forward to the planned widget integration for the graphs!

It's a good looking app. Simple, but informative. The biggest problem has to do with the widgets and the fact that they're terrible at updating. Many times I have to open the app to effect a change in what the widgets show. Also, on many occasions it'll show only 3 or 4 of the days in the 5-day forecast I have configured. Again, opening the app fixes it, but that defeats the purpose. I've let it run in the background and have disabled battery optimization, but no dice.

I am another castoff from Dark Sky, and over the past weeks, I have tried all manner of weather apps (including the butchered revamp of WU). Overall, this has the closest functionality to DS, and the developer is obviously listening to feedback and is making improvements. It would be nice to change the temp displayed between actual and 'feels like', but that can get added later on.

The layout of this app was great, but I won't be renewing my subscription b/c I found the actual weather information presented via this app was almost always inaccurate, when compared to multiple other reliable weather sources. I tried calibrating different settings many times but sadly it was just not accurate for me. Anyway, this app was easy to use and had great design, but yeah I need something else for now.

My Dark Sky replacement. Quick access to accurate info and good customization. For example, wind gusts are important where I live and many apps gloss over that but Appy makes it clear and even lets you add it to your notification. Developer is responsive and actively engaged in continual improvements. I do wish the persistent notification restarted itself after app updates. I have to manually open the app to trigger the current conditions notification.

I really enjoy this minimal but highly functional app. It gives me exactly the info I need on the forecast as fast as it can, no more or less. No distractions and several weather sources. The only thing I'd add is a tablet UI. The three paned view would spread really nicely across a tablet screen! But for phones it is perfect!

It's Ok. I went pro for a little bit because knowing when rain is on the way as it is critical to my work. Dark Sky used to do this reliably and Appy could not, the interface was oversimplified, and also too much useless info with no way that I could find to adjust. Its good, and I may circle back but right now it doesn't seem to be what I need.

I'm really enjoying this app so far! I like that it has the option to do some customization without overwhelming me with the ability to change every single detail! I bought the app to get the widgets and status bar temp, and both are really nicely designed and not in your face. I love that there are no ads even on the free version, in the future I'd love to see more widget designs but other than that to me this is a perfect weather app, thank you and great job to the developer!

I love this app! I've been looking for a new weather app for awhile. Appy is accurate, easy to use, customizable, and has all of the information I want without any of the fluff I don't. The layout is intuitive and easy to navigate. You can tell a lot of thought and consideration went into every aspect of Appy. The basic version impressed me enough that I paid for the yearly upgrade. This is the only app I've liked enough to do so.

Google in an un-announced summer security update removed the ability for Android developers to use custom fonts for widgets. Fortunately, I identified a workaround that seems to be recommended best practice at this point. This should restore widgets’ intended appearance (and if you hadn’t seen this issue, then it will make sure you don’t after you upgrade to Android 12).
