The app itself is amazing. It has helped me improve in chess for the last few years but an issue I have started to have is when I start a game or when I leave the app (if I send a text midgame) it will not load the next moves meaning that end up running out of time. I have lost a few games because of this so just thought I should mention it.

Amazing reaction and controls. A breeze to play chess on. This is great. But the level 1 AI is the only level I can beat regularly. The AIs are not suited for absolute beginners. And it irritates me that there is not more to do here as I don't like to play 1400+ elo players and get destroyed. Also, the calculations don't show everything the browser version does so I can't learn much from my games in this app.

The current version is extremely bugged on my phone. Several issues like not being able to view your profile, some puzzles not counting towards your puzzle rating, not being able to start a game against the engine, some buttons not working at all, etc., keeps this from being an otherwise easy 5-star rating. It would definitely the best free chess platform if it was not so damn bugged.

Absolutely great app and the website itself. I've never seen such a great platform for mastering your skills in other areas. Easy to find suitable opponent, intetesting ranking system, different modes, tournaments, tutorials, puzzles and a lot more. Amazing tools for learning from your mistakes! And it is free.

With the new update, i can no longer see the backward and forward arrows in Analysis mode... they get cut off at the bottom of the screen :( please fix this. Another problem is the timer keeps counting down after i make my move, causing me to lose so much time per game and sometimes lose as a result.

Hello lichess team! I love this app so much! All the unique features, the option for following others, challenging them and chatting with them! But three things are recommended. First, please make sounds for check, castling, en passant, mate, etc. Second, I will like it being a little more colourful. Thirdly, please make analysis for good, excellent, best, missed wins and brilliant moves. Thank you for reading this, and these are just suggestions 😊

Free A+ site & app . 3 points I'd like to see implemented. 1 - regarding the algebraic notation the last move played should be highlighted in a user chosen colour not an unchangeable default colour. 2 - the board should be made bigger somehow 🤔. I think the overall layout of the board & notations could be improved on mobile phones. 3 - when playing annonomosly certain functionalities such as 'auto promote to queen' or 'analysis' should not be missing.

This app worked perfectly until the new update. I am using it on a Samsung S8 It crashes often, signs me in and out on a whim, and does not allow me to click on the chessboard icon at the top right to access my active games. I also cannot use the function to start a match to play with a friend. I will happily change to 5 stars if the bugs get fixed.

Hi, Team Lichess! Recently, I am experiencing some problems with your app. I already messaged you on Twitter re this issue. At times, when promoting, THE OPTIONS FOR PROMOTION SUDDENLY DISAPPEAR. As it happened, I CANNOT DO ANYTHING, my time expired, and I lost on time in a much better position. This is very frustrating on my part. Also, this isn't the first occassion this issue has inconvenienced me in recent months. I am hoping that you may be able to address this issue. Thanks and kudos!

Lichess is a great free piece of chess software, however the app is extremely buggy. One example is when the board reverts to a previous state, making it impossible to play on. Sometimes opponent's moves do not appear until several seconds later - the entire while your clock is ticking. Occasionally the board will be stuck so that you cannot move until you switch in and out of the app and select a different piece. This makes playing shorter time controls quite frustrating.

It's a good app and I have enjoyed many hours on it. Most of the time it works well. Unfortunately I have to take away one star for freezing and flagging at the end of games sometimes. For example, I have 5 seconds left and already made my move and am waiting for my opponent. All of a sudden it says my time is up and I lost. The other issue is many of the features on the website aren't available on the app. I would rank it 5 stars if both these issues were resolved.

Please improve the app. It causes a lot of problems. Firstly, even though I have a stable internet connection, the game suddenly freezes for a few seconds and then resumes. Since I play bullet, my time becomes low and I lose the match. Secondly, when I play the first move, sometimes it shows that the opponent has not made the move. But when I refresh the page, I find out that my opponent has already made his first move against my move and my time is running because of which I lose on time.

Hey lichess, an old user here. The issue of "blunder and go afk" is just wasting my time. In classical format, when my opponents blunder, they don't even ask for a takeback they just go offline. I suggest you to add some sort of a button and when one of the two players press that button, the other has to respond within a minute or something like that(or else the other player wins). This is just an idea. Thank you.

The app is basically perfect chess app. It has all the features that a premium app offers, plus unlimited online games, analysis of moves, practice with computer, daily puzzle etc. and many more. Offline play is also good. One minor inconvenience I encountered is that when you press back button while a game is in progress, the screen shifts to previous game or menu. Whereas when playing a game, pressing back button should at least give one prompt..

It's great. Thank you for making such an amazing quality product, and making it free and open-source. You have my support. I'd just suggest adding the analysis button on the bar directly for correspondence chess; I use it quite a lot and it'd remove a click. I don't personally use the notes or turn board options. Ah and maybe extend the chatbox message length limit. Keep it up!

Absolutely wonderful chess app. It's free with no ads. It uses a rating system so you are always playing against players your own ability. You can review your game and there is a stockfish anyltics engine which shows you where you made mistakes and what the best move was. There are puzzle tools to help with situations. There is a study section that goes into details about different aspects of the game. It is simply a brilliant chess app.

This new update has done something that makes me misclick moves on a regular basis. I go to place a piece on a square and it places it one square ahead. It's bloody annoying! This wasnt happening prior to the update or EVER! This is my first experience with this on any app/site. I don't know if it's a bug but it needs to be fixed or you've just lost a 3 year member.

Have been using this app for nearly a year now. Everything was fine until the last update, which, to be fair, is an absolute disgrace. Half of the time the app does not connect to the internet, even though my connection is fine. Switching between games is impossible unless you restart the app. Accepting challenges is impossible too as the button is unresponsive. Stellar example of rolling out an "update" with insufficient testing, causing a lot of players issues. Needs a fix!
