I'm still pretty new to the app but, it's so full of features. My expectations were pretty low but, seriously, this app has everything. Really good lessons, a great rating system for how much you know, the ability to practice with real native speakers, translation, everything you'd need. I would definitely recommend this app to anyone trying to strengthen their skills in another language.

Very very happy with this app. Not only are you exposed to the correct way to speak your chosen language, but also the way that native speakers talk, by chatting with native speakers from whatever country uses the language as it's principal method of communication. You may chose the country as well. It's also a great way to make new friends and share experiences while learning. Thank you Hello Talk!

This app is a wonderful way and idea to help talk to native speakers, a great way to learn a language. However, they lock half of the app behind an overpriced paywall that must be repaid monthly. I would purchase the premium version if it was made a one-time purchase, or if some more of the premium features were available to free users. However the idea is great and the app itself has a food interface, and many users.

This is apparently the best language exchange app out there, but the unfortunate thing is that it's also a privacy invasion nightmare. You can't even use the app without giving access to things like call/log access, contacts, etc. It's apparently possible other people can see your exact GPS location if you forgot to turn that option off! If it weren't for all the unnecessarily required permissions, I'd love to use this app.

The most annoying part is no dark mode. Some users, seems mostly outside the US, have dark mode. Please add dark mode. Other than that, the notifications only seem to work at night. Annoying ads you can't click out of. Some ads are for some gross questionable apps and games. You can find a lot of people to talk to though so that helps if you already know enough of a language.

The good: if I could only download one app to study any language on, this would be my recommendation. Heck, I actually do recommend this app to people ALL THE TIME. The reason being that you can actually talk to actual people, unlike something like Duolingo that is so irritatingly slow and you don't get to use it. Took off 1 star because they just copied Drops (a different app) into their design but it doesn't work very well. For Chinese, the audio did not match up with the words at all.

Bad point, while calling, once you change the diaplay from calling place to chat box, headphones turns to speaker phone and annoys you. While calling when you go to a different app, the connection was hold but you can't speak or hear, you have to give heads up before you do it. While calling, you cannot sleep your diaplay, because it makes your connection sort of out of line. Good point, there are many people you can interact with.

I really like this app, but there are many issues with translating posts. When I tap on a word to see its meaning, it often doesn't load, or shows the wrong word. Similarly, with entire sentence translation, it doesn't load over half of the time. I really, really want to use this app more, but that alone makes it very frustrating.

Used to be a pretty cool app to make new friends but now theyve stripped away all good features into a premium monthly service. It went from one of the best language exchange apps to pay to play garbage. One of the best aspects was finding groups of people near you looking for exchanges and having meetups. Now its just random people from across the world that you have no connection with.

Great service but terribly optimized. At best the app is slow to respond. In daily use notifications don't work, the app is slow and awful to navigate. The worst problem i have is that after a few minutes or if switching between apps messages fail to send. This is a constant struggle where several times a day i have to force close and reopen the app to get it to send messages. Also, when navigating back between chats it's so cumbersome and broken that it's easier to force close and reopen.

While this is a nice app for regular language partner use in a variety of languages, there is a MAJOR issue regarding synchronizing with the web version. Messages regularly delete themselves, and are wiped from the phone and the computer, despite being normal conversation that does that violate any rules. It's purely a matter of synchronizing messages, which fails more often than not. Makes keeping track of conversations incredibly frustrating. Both phone and computer connections are good.

One of the best apps to learn and meet people, major problem here though is when you make a mistake posting stuff you can't edit, which is frustrating. Either copy and paste then fix or use the correction tab but that's a waste, a simple edit button will make things tremendously smoother. Also talking using the voice feature can drop at times, not too bad but after a solid 30+ it starts to drop. Other than that a very solid app, highly recommended.

I think this app is well written. The only slight hang up is I've tried to share photos, yet they never appeared in the app. And as of lately this app has been acting real weird. Phone calls aren't connecting to people I normally talk to. It says DISCONNECTED at the top of the screen and messages just buffer and won't send. Within the last 6 months this app has been messing up, bad. I've been here at least two years.

HelloTalk is a great app, but I ran into a few issues. I have a Chromebook, so I went to the play store and this app isn't compatible with x86. I'd like to access every feature on the desktop site, so that's why I tried to get the app. Also, I saw an emergency on this app and I contacted too many new people to check in on this one person. Other than that everything is fine.

It's pretty good overall for meeting new people for language exchange and friendships from all around the world. Easy to use and it's kind of like Facebook where you post "moments" instead of statuses and people can comment on them or private message you. There's more features and languages available to you when you upgrade to the yearly subscription which I have and I recommend it if you want to talk to more people.

No other app has given me access to native speakers of a target language! It's so easy to correct someone's writing in the app but I'm most interested in practicing my speaking, but unfortunately, HelloTalk doesn't have a great option for this. You can send voice messages, but they can only be 60 seconds and it's very difficult to have a conversation like that. I hope they update the app so you can make phone calls so I don't have to go to a different app to do this!

Very nice environment for learning, since everyone is ready to talk in whatever language you want. Only thing is that the premium membership is blocking off what are ostensibly a set of convenience features, like translations and transliterations, and you can accidentally consume your free uses by tapping any word on the screen. On top of this, your ability to select words is very limited, which is likely to prevent you from using another app for the translations.

Great app - you can easily correct someone's sentence and they can do the same for you. Also just press on the message and get an instant translation. Lots of options for studying your language - some free , some Premium. And of course you can meet people from all over the world; send each other short videos a photos AND send voice messages to practice pronunciation and get feedback from native speakers.And if that isn't enough, you can also talk live to your new friends within the app. Отличпо!
