I just downloaded the app and paid for a 3 month subscription. I do like the way it teaches and all the extras that is offers, however unless a few things are fixed, I won't be renewing my subscription. First, the microphone feature does not work. I have adjusted settings time and time again, so I'm sure it is not me. Second, a lot of the times I cannot get the keyboard to come up when I'm in an excersise that requires typing. I have to exit the lesson and go back. Multiple times.

A good app I like it a lot better then Duolingo. But it's not with out it's issue. For being a subscription based app with a high premium it's a bit feature light and it's voice recognition is awful especially for one syllable words. Not to mention a recent bug that prevented progress, but they did add time to subscription in recognition of the inability to use the app, but I was on a roll and habit of doing this and the time off caused a lot of catch up and trying to re-establish the habit

Great learning app. The lessons (so long as you're taking notes) are good for learning language. The lesson plan reminds me of when I would learn in school. The UI is a little finicky. Sometimes the speaking portion freezes up and doesnt comprehend that I'm speaking. Kinda wonky and gotta restart the app at that point. But overall a good teacher.

I really love this app. It helps you feel like you are learning and making progress right away. There's a great mix of conversations, culture, vocab, and grammar. My biggest complaint is that the speech recognition on mobile is absolutely atrocious. I refuse to use Babbel on mobile for this reason because I cannot progress the lesson without incorrect errors. I only use this on my computer and it's much better. I also wish I could see the literal translation for each line during the lessons.

App is serving its' purpose: teaching a language. Vocabulary is okay, except some random things (paragliding, really?) are emphasized to the neglect of more useful, everyday words. Grammar lessons are opaque, not intuitive. Voice recognition is essentially non-functional (Android) despite adjusting phone settings. All that said, it is better than alternatives I've tried. Edit: Also, skipping through some dialogue lessons now, not particularly useful or relevant.

Great so far! I am relearning French after many years out from high school. I really like the interactive app platform with combinations of listening, speaking, and typing. My only complaint is that the beginner dialogs with native speakers are sometimes way too fast to hear and comprehend. I can only tell what they are saying by looking at the English translations, which doesn't give me the benefit of understanding the spoken dialect. Save the fast speaking for advanced courses.

Babble has always been my favorite language learning app. However recently it has been persistently buggy. It says "Oops something went wrong" over and over and over again, a few seconds into a lesson or a review, non stop. I tried restarting phone, clear cache, clear data, uninstall, give it all permissions I can possibly find, no luck, still errors every time I take a lesson, and it just Oops in the middle. Can someone from babble help?

I came back to the app over a year later, and the voice recognition doesn't work at all anymore. Very disappointing. Here's my previous review: Keeps crashing. Voice recognition doesn't work more than 5/6 of the time. This app is bunk. Do yourself a favor, if you want to use this language learning course, do it on a laptop or computer. This app is a giant waste of time.

It's ok, but not very clear dialogue. Especially with the female voices. They almost slur the pronunciations to the point you can not understand what they are saying. For example: spanish lesson 7/ Letters 2: first constants the female voice in the last dialogue you can not understand which letter she is saying in every sentence. I didn't have this issue on other language apps. Please fix this issue.

I needed to learn Spanish for my career, I am on lesson 6 of the introduction. It's very easy to learn the way each lesson is set up. There's about 8 additional classes with 7-10 lessons in each class. Lots to learn, I appreciate how easy it is to use, and I am learning at an improved pace at my own discretion. I love this app, and Babbel has done a great job, I look forward to learning another language in the future as well. 👍👍

Super predatory payment structure. Can't unsubscribe from inside the app, have to hunt around on the website. If you get billed, can't cancel before the next payment cycle (yearly) without losing your profile, data etc so "sunk cost remorse". Basically relies on people forgetting to cancel after the trial, auto-billing 80 bucks(!) then "might as well use it for a year, then cancel"... forget to do so and get billed again, etc. It's a fine language app but it's so scammy I'm too annoyed to use it

Wasn't happy with Duolingo so thought I would try this. The sample lesson is one of the most basic lessons even though I said I already knew some Spanish. Doesn't seem to be a way to change that to sample a more difficult level. I'm uninsalling the app. I do like that they don't share info with 3rd parties. I don't like they collect data for advertising. I thought if you were paying there would be no ads.

Not a huge fan. You learn each grammatical rule only once, so be prepared to take screenshots if you need to see things more than once to learn. It also doesn't hear shorter words and counts them incorrect. Additionally, the expectations of tasks aren't always explained. You just get a series of empty boxes and it's anyone's guess what's supposed to go in them. I do like that it shows you what it thinks you said so you can see where you went wrong. Update - there is no grammar course, but thx

I really like the learning style of this app. It's much more practical than others and actually provides information about grammar rather than depending on me to get it through osmosis only. I really really hate that you can't test out of sections. I'm already at intermediate low in my selected language to learn but there's no way for me to test out of learning things like how to pronounce each letter or introducing myself. The app greatly fails in comparison to others in this area.

This makes learning new languages really fun and easy. It allows you to schedule notifications so that you always get reminders when you need them. if you make a typo when answering, it recognizes it and doesn't count it as wrong. It lets you practice saying the words so you can work on getting your pronunciation correct. Most importantly, it focuses on teaching you to speak the new language as if it were your native language rather than teaching you to translate it to your native language.

It's really unfortunate this app can't eliminate the annoying chime sounds. You get chimed to death. It's loud. It's has to be loud so you can hear the rest of the app. Supposedly you can choose to turn off the teeth-grating pings but I've tried. Daily. Due to a supposed "fix" released 7/3/23. I really liked everything else about this app but it's a full stop. Now I just want my money back.

It's okay at reinforcing what I knew but I didn't find it useful to really learn the language. Also, be aware they make it as difficult as they can to turn off auto renewal which is automatically turned on when you sign up. You have to cancel your subscription in a browser and lose access even if you had just paid. They won't allow you to simply toggle off auto renewal.

It has been really fun and engaging, however the oral response system seems lacking. Whenever it prompts you to speak a word, it only says it one way. There should be other speakers pronouncing the word when you get it wrong. Additionally, it's voice recognition is rather poor. You will say a word correctly and it will still mark you incorrect. A few great examples are: Ohr, öl, and bar.
