Description of AnkiDroid Flashcards

Memorize anything with AnkiDroid!

AnkiDroid lets you learn flashcards very efficiently by showing them just before you would forget. It is fully compatible with the spaced repetition software Anki (including synchronization), which is available for Windows/Mac/Linux/ChromeOS/iOS.

Study all sorts of things wherever and whenever you want. Make good use of idle times on bus trips, in supermarket queues or any other waiting situation!

Create your own flashcard decks or download free decks compiled for many languages and topics (thousands available).

Add material through the desktop application Anki or directly through Ankidroid. The application even supports adding material automatically from a dictionary!

This app is great for studying. The amount of customization is immense and is the largest selling point of this app. I would only say that it can be a little daunting and difficult to understand when starting out. The explanations in the manual online are generally good, but sometimes not detailed enough for someone with absolutely no experience with a program like this before. However, this kind of difficulty is the price one pays for the amount of depth and customization.

Fantastic app. A simple concept done well - I use it every day to study languages. Its ease of use and customability allow me to add flashcards on the fly in the field with consultants, find them again easily, and edit them with images, explanations, or audio files. By far the best flashcard app I've found so far.

Wow! I can flip cards now! Thanks for the help. Old review: The settings are kind of tedious and hard to understand but it works really well and I use it for japanese learning. The main problem I have is I cant flip a deck and be shown the english first and then the japanese. The only way to to this is to manually remake the cards one at a time. Please add the feature.

My main critique is the back button should be in the button right somewhere (slightly above "show answer"). When you are flying through your cards getting in the zone, you may accidentally hit one of the buttons for correct answer mistakenly. It is disruptive to reposition to click the back button. It is also very small and requires a very precise tap, else you then get the flag drop down menu. I would change both position and size of the back button for better UX.

Decent app but the companion app for the computer (which could be a significant contributor to success) is a nightmare. For example, you can mark cards with a star in the app, and pull them out in browse mode to make adjustments or changes. I've spent the last hour trying to find a way to filter marked on the laptop and it's hidden at the bottom of allllll other tags ever used, and then doesn't actually pull up the marked cards - just a random subset of them. Not helpful.

Helpful when it works, troubleshooting difficult to research. I'm pretty handy with looking up issues and reading articles on troubleshooting, but finding specifics are time consuming, even using the "find on page" option using my browser settings. I love the app though. 98% of the app functions perfectly. It's the other 2% that is bothersome.

It's an open source Anki client for Android, all the good, and bad of Anki. No ads, no weirdness, mostly just good at doing the things Anki does. Definitely recommended. It is really slow at syncing and importing decks with lots of media though, and also has some issues with html tags being visible when editing cards, that aren't an issue on the desktop version (specifically with line beaks, you get little tags everywhere, which should be invisible like on desktop)

I'm of two minds about Anki. It saved me in grad school, because once configured it's fast and the repetition algorithm is solid. But it's a perplexing UI w/ a labyrinth of menu options & no in-app documentation to speak of. Wondering what a "Leech threshold" is, or what "Steps (in minutes) = 1.0 10.0" means? *The bundled manual is no help here,* and user forum has a very limited search feature. I suggest they look to Podcast Addict as an example of an app with deep controls + documentation.

Very nice flash card program, with a wide variety of pre-existing cards, as well as a sophisticated templating system for designing and adding your own card decks. Also, the "spaced repetition" memory techniques employed by the app are the best I've seen! (Just don't get tempted to do more than 20 cards on your first day!)

Thanks for creating this android app! The PC version has been very useful for studying in med school. I am having a problem with the AnkiDroid, however: none of my images are displaying (i am getting broken image icons). I do use a lot of image occlusion as well as .png screen clips or images copy-pasted from the internet, and everything works and is displayed beautifully on the PC app, but the images do not cross over after syncing. My cards are rendered useless this way. Not sure what is causing this issue but I have probably a few thousand cards that I would like to continue reviewing. Have others encountered this issue? Do you have any fixes or suggestions? Thank you.

Great little app! It comes across as simple, but the way the flashcards are shown, marked are designed in a thoughtful way. Not too many cards are shown at once until you get one right, then it adds more cards until you get them all right. Labeling them as "easy", "hard", "show again" is a cinch. Some card customizations are not terribly intuitive (eg. flipping a deck to reverse) and require some navigation, but the ability to sync progress across devices and view past progress is useful.

I like the app and idea of it, but it needs to be much more intuitive to use, I can look up information on how to use the app fine but would prefer to have clearer labels like a pencil icon on a deck to edit it. Make it easier to edit decks, provide the option to flip the front of back of the cards in the app when studying, and maybe down the line add features like study games. Benefits though, the app is very light weight, native dark mode is nice, and customization is excellent.

My #1 study resource. Many of my classmates and I can attest that Anki has gotten us through many med school exams. There are some features that require a bit of a learning curve to master, but overall it's a great and effective way to do flashcards at any time. Stable, customizable, free without ads - I'd recommend AnkiDroid to anyone looking to up their study game.

Not your ordinary flash card app. The possibility of what it can be used to "keep things in mind". I have tried several options out there this is by far the most powerful, flexible and compatible app. Both desktop/mobile all checks. It's not just the med students but any curious soul who isn't making use of it might be missing one heck of a gem. Best of all its free and open source - what a time to live.

As a language student, I've been using Anki for my flashcards for the past three months. As much as I like how organized and easy to use this is, I am frequently having to completely redo my cards because the image and audio files I attach to the cards are constantly being corrupted- where the was once an image or an audio clip, there will suddenly just be a blank thumbnail. It's making the app very tedious to use.

This is the app I have been waiting for all of my life. To be honest, I downloaded this app a year ago and immediately deleted it because I didn't fully understand it. However, while searching for an easier way to learn Japanese pitch-accent and I finally found it again. There is an add-on you can download for this app that automatically takes the kanji terms + hirigana readings and turns them into pitch-accent diagrams. It even places the diagrams under each term it corresponds with. Amazing!

The greatest thing to happen to my education. Even past my board exams I'm still using this because it's perfect anything I want to learn. I love to use it to review later too; even if I haven't seen a card/note for a while, I can search for keywords and then I review everything on that subject in minutes because I have tons of information in "extra" sections.

Incredible aid for spaced repetition. It's not the friendliest -- it takes a lot of reading and study (and a few add-ons) to really make the most of it -- but community support is excellent, and it integrates with laptop and web versions so you can practice and update from anywhere if you sync regularly.
