Description of Reddit

Welcome to Reddit, the heart of the internet.

Reddit is a social network with something for everyone: trending topics, diverse discussions, and engaging communities and comment threads.

Redditors have authentic and interesting conversations around all sorts of curated content. You’ll find gaming communities, bloggers, meme-makers, fandoms, travel enthusiasts, support groups, AI forums, news junkies, artists, and creators of all types.

Reddit has over 100,000 online communities (forums where members post and comment) dedicated to specific topics. Some of the most popular communities are:
■ r/AskReddit, where users can ask and answer questions
■ r/funny, which is full of humorous content
■ r/science, for scientific discussions and news
■ r/gifs, with funny animated gifs for your viewing pleasure

On Reddit you’ll find:
■ Thousands of community groups
Breaking news, social media trends, sports highlights, TV fan theories, open AI discussions and personalized content, there's a community for everyone.

■ Loads of laughs
Find memes, oddly satisfying videos, funny cat videos, and more to help you lose track of time.

■ AMAs, or "Ask Me Anything"
Celebrities, politicians, and experts answer questions from users.

■ The best discussions on any topic
Reddit’s discussion threads are where community members jump in with humor and insights for just about anything; pop culture, sports, entertainment, or financial advice.

■ Get answers to anonymous questions
Ask communities anything you want. Ask questions on relationships, mental health, parenting, career help, fitness plans, and more.

■ Anonymous profiles so you can do YOU
Connect with people about any topic, join interactive community groups or threads, and chat with other redditors, all anonymously.

Voting and Karma:

Instead of likes and hearts, Reddit’s social network runs on upvotes or downvotes. Voting on posts and comments increase or decrease the creator’s karma, and helps popular and relevant posts rise to the top, while filtering out low-quality or irrelevant posts.

While karma doesn't directly impact your ability to use Reddit, more karma can increase posts’ visibility and help you get noticed. Some communities require karma to post or comment, which helps prevent spam or low-quality content.

Reddit Premium:

Purchase Reddit Premium to enjoy an ads-free experience and access to premium avatar gear, r/lounge, custom app icons, and more.

Payment will be charged on a recurring monthly or annual basis to your Google Play account. Your monthly or annual Premium subscription will automatically renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before your subscription ends. Cancel anytime in your device’s Account Settings. No partial refunds.

UI is driving me nuts. Random crashes, glitches, randomly scrolls all the way to the top when I'm browsing... super annoying. Now when I click on a thread, it automatically scrolls to the top of the body, cutting off the title and details. If I scroll up, it refreshes. Why would I want the screen to move on its own randomly? Who thinks of these things?

The more I use it, the more I hate it. Very mediocre, especially in light of the lack of other available options. Virtually no customization. You can't preview where links go. Random stupid notifications that are hard to turn off. You can't select text from within a post (if you want to Google something mentioned in a post, you have to copy the entire post). Many quality of life features from other apps (like RiF) are not present. It's better than the website but not by much.

This app is nearly non-functional. It randomly goes to communities, and when you go back, it forces you to the top of the feed. Randomly, when im scrolling, it will lag and again return to the top. Often, the app "forgets" how smooth scrolling works and won't let you "fling" the feed to scroll. Not only did the 3rd party app i was using not have a SINGLE one of these issues... it was customizable, so i could make it easier to read with my vision problems.

The phone app feels like some poor rip off of the real thing, I can't even post or edit my posts from it. Any time I try I just get an "unknown error." I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app, still no go. So pretty much all my posting/editing has to be done from my PC. When you can't even get your app to run basic essential functions, you done screwed up. Fix it or give me back my 3rd part apps that actually worked. Don't care witch!

I have used this app for a long time and it recently became almost unusable. Video player doesn't work half the time, and when you click on a post in your feed to read it/read comments, it takes several minutes to open. Can't really scroll Reddit to kill time on my breaks anymore because everything takes so long to load, even on my work's high-speed wi-fi. Especially frustrating since they recently killed 3rd party apps by overcharging for their API.

I loved this app until the recent update. Everything was changed from the UI to the "swipe gestures". On posts with multiple photos, you could click to fullscreen and swipe left and right to see the other photos. But now swiping left or right goes to the next post??? Why?? What was wrong with the original?
David Barnes
App is very slow. Takes a long time to open anything. Used to be that I could tap a thread, and keep scrolling while it loaded. That was cool. After a recent update, it just cuts to black for a couple of minutes while it loads. That's not so cool. Optimize the app so it loads faster or bring back the background loading, this thing is a miserable experience otherwise.
James Turner
Notifications break often, giving you an error telling you to try again later. Videos will randomly stop playing, or won't stop playing, and you have to restart the app to fix it. Oftentimes, videos and posts don't want to load; instead, you get to look at the reddit mascot instead of what you wanted. Needs some serious performance enchantments.

I have never left a review for an app before but I have to make an exception. This is one of the most poorly designed, stupidly built, insanely buggy and overall unusable POS apps I've ever installed. The UI is atrocious, videos through redgifs won't play sound when they have sound, the ads take up a hilarious amount of space, you're prompted to turn on notifications roughly 4 times a day, and it hardly tracks if you've already seen a post or not. Embarrassing.

A cheap imitation of the great apps that came before, that were developed by much smaller teams than one of the world's more visited sites. Button and text sizes are very cramped and it's easy to misclick, gifs will autoplay with sound, and you can't just view comments without viewing the entire post. Inconvenient to switch from post to comments and back due to the app just going to the next post instead. The recommendation algorithm is awful, and rarely has anything new. Thank God for mute.
Ben Nottelling
The app is actually just garbage. It's normal to tap on a post and then be stuck waiting 15 seconds for I to load. You can think it didn't pick up on your two and then try to open a post multiple times, which the app will happily let you do. Then when you try to leave the post, you have to hit the back button however many times you has tapped on it. Videos are slow to load, thr icon to indicate there are more than 1 pictures often don't appear, it logs me out occasionally. Absolutely awful.
Reese
You cannot copy text in posts for some reason, which greatly reduces speed and utility when trying to fix an issue. There are many small, but nice missing features compared to the browser version. Links are loaded in their own custom browser-thing. Half the time it doesn't work. This also becomes a privacy issue, among other things.
Dong
I miss reddit is fun. The official app has so many unnecessary features that you can't turn off. And if you do turn it off, it still bothers you every now and then. I don't want notifications or to connect my other accounts to reddit. It's also inconsistent. The audio of a video is sometimes on and sometimes off. And when I go to the comments, the video is still playing so I have to manually stop it. And when I long press a post to save it, sometimes the menu appears, and sometimes it doesn't?
David Moffitt
It's ok I guess but I preferred rif. The official app doesn't have landscape mode, which is a very basic feature, because sometimes it's more comfortable to scroll in landscape mode and sometimes it's better to scroll in portrait. Rif had both 10 years ago, so it's kind of disappointing that it's not in the official app now that the third party options are unavailable.
Chris Laprade
Bloated and full of ads. The interface is a chore and the UX is exceedingly unintuitive. You won't have time to get accustomed to the layout anyway as it changes frequently. I feel for the poor clearly overwhelmed devs responsible for this mess. It doesn't even compare to the third-party options that were available. Which is probably why they aren't anymore. Look elsewhere.
Michael Grant
Half the experience it should be. The myraid of bugs make this app a terrible experience, and they dont have half the convenience that third party apps had. Hell, i cant even look at a video without being taken back to the top of the page, and theres no indications anywhere that they'll fix that, or any of the other problems.
Kyler “KyDawGG” Endicott
The only consistent thing about this app is that it keeps getting worse and worse. Now I can hardly engage with the app at all without it showing me a black screen as it slows to a crawl and sucks down battery life. I miss the 3rd party apps. They at least tried to make a good experience and took feedback.
Zack B
This app has way too many pop-ups and random navigation. No I don't want alerts or to add my email. Quit asking. Everything about this app is just a mess. Too many menus in different formats for the same things. Extremely weird post navigation and it seems like you had multiple different dev teams building this monstrosity and not talking to each other. Switched to one star for forcing you to use the in-app browser for external links.
